#1 tf2c bans guy for a year for mentioning tf2stadium in TF2 General Discussion

http://forums.tf2center.com/topic/7362-year-long-chat-ban-for-trolling/

Gotta love it. I mean I get it, you don't like TF2Stadium because it's a competing project, but is quelling all talk of it really necessary? A year long ban is a bit excessive.

#8 TSU's issues with the fall classic in TF2 General Discussion

Not commenting about what went wrong/right here, just would like to point out that the job of tournament admin is often a thankless and incredibly stressful task. Remember there's a person behind it, who no matter the outcome of the tournament, he poured his heart and soul into it.

Tournament admins know when things have gone wrong, and already feel horrible for it. We are gutted when things don't go to plan.

#4 Fallout 4 in Other Games

Pretty freaking excited, but considering it comes out on like the day after my first exam and I don't want to fail, I'm going to have to drop off the internet until the Saturday when everything is over. :(

#486 /r/tf2 posts that make you cringe in The Dumpster

lol this old argument.

Don't even bother. When I was on board I tried to get them to implement sensible rules/guidelines for dealing with offclassing but I was just shouted down from my position. And it leads to stuff like this where people get banned for !reping someone who's shitting up a lobby.

Dance if you can make a difference hats off to you.

#6 Possibility as e_sports as an Olympic event? in Esports

Chess would probably come first, but it's unlikely to happen at all. Olympics are really about physical sports, mental sports (such as chess) have never really properly been on the table.

Our first goal would be to get esports recognised by the IOC, however this is not a guarantee to ever be in the games; chess is currently in there, and so are motor sports which will never be let in (olympics specifically bans motorised sports)

E-Sports are a totally different beast. We can do our own thing and be successful with it. No need to bring corrupt old men into the equation.

#23 Wallbanging in TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

TF2 at it's core is a team based quake descendant, wall banging doesn't make any sense with that context.

#2 FPS drop when spies are semi-invis in Q/A Help

Could you post your system details and pastebin configs used?

Also it's a great anti spy measure had a guy on my team once who had this issue but me as med was pretty happy cause we always knew when there were spies on the field lmao.

#12 CS:GO update for 9/24/15 (9/25/15 UTC, 1.35.0.3) in CS2 General Discussion
M4TTWhen we ask for 128 tick
-nothing happens
Some kid makes a stattrak music kit meme on reddit
-stattrak music kits added

smh

Not really smh. 128 tick is certainly nice, but they don't want to pay for it, and I don't blame them. 128 does cost a lot more to run per user playing, and that's not trivial when you're talking about the scale we have here. Most people don't even really care and won't notice, so valve arent rushing to spend millions of dollars a year more (not an exageration) to provide an experience that will only really be noticed by a few.

When you put everything in a buisness context it makes sense.

Also the effort required to make a few music kits is far less effor than the massive network engineering upgrade required to instantly double the processing power required for every single server you run in the world.

#12 TeaF2 - A Project For Rookie British Players in Projects

This is great. NZFortress did a similar thing a while ago called fresh meat league and it went really well, heaps of those players hung around for 3-4 years plus and quite a few still play today. ozfortress ran icebreakers, structured differently but similar idea, and same story, very high retention rate.

More power to you, with the small bracket size, you can easily do score reporting on challonge. Servers would be a concern, you can look at encouraging the use of serveme.tf, or you can look at getting a sponsorship from a server provider (potentially they could provide 3-6 months of server for the winner as well).

Keep it small and it should be manageable.

#7 tf2statr: Compile and aggregate TF2 stats in R in Projects

btw you don't have to webscrape logs.tf, if you put json in the path it will give you a json response of the compiled stats.

example: http://logs.tf/json/1027894

Sounds like the way this is doing it is more accurate anyway but just a thought.
