#15 Deathadder 2013 vs G402 in Hardware

If my option was limited to just the 2 I'd pick the G402. But honestly you should consider the wired version of the G403 if you're considering any Logitech vs a Deathadder

also if mouse feet is an issue check and see if someone else makes them

http://www.hyperglide.net/?hg=paypal-na

hyperglide makes pretty good mouse feet, and they cover a large range of gaming mice both old and new, only downside it can take a week or 2 for the feet to get to you at least in NA.

-edit-

MarxistThe mouse feet are indeed very small, and they will wear down after 2-3 years, I assume it would be worse on a "control" type mouse pad surface that is more abrasive. The easiest replacement is to experiment with different kinds of tape - duct tape and masking tape give you more control, whereas scotch, packing, or electric tape gives you more glide. You don't have to do that straight away, but after a few years you'll want to, especially if you have to take the mouse apart to clean it (you have to take the feet off to accomplish this).

PTFE mouse tape can be got for about $5-15 depending on thickness and amount, also heating up the mouse feet before removing them makes the process a lot easier and typically you can put them back in place with no problem.

MarxistEventually your m1 will die due to wear, just sand down the plunger with a nail file and it will work again - like new.

This is the point where you should consider getting a new mouse lol.

MarxistThe Synapse software they want you to use is not very stable, and I would recommend against having it turn on on start up if you aren't using an SSD because it likes to hang on start up a lot and lag up your computer's startup routine - at least for me, perhaps it's because I was using a legacy mouse.

Synapse is a nightmare, most people setup their mouse and uninstall it...

MarxistThe only real flaw in the design of the mouse though, is the very smooth sides of the mouse, if you play for an exceedingly long time it gets pretty slippery - I used fine grit sandpaper to correct this so that it would be a little more rough. The downside is it collects dirt better when it's no longer smooth so you end up cleaning the mouse more.

Most mice end up being like this, my G400s after a few years of use has a really smoothed out/slippery area where the thumb usually is

If the PC version of TF2 was like the PS3 version in terms of support I would've quit the game before I even tried competitive.

#4 What political party is batman most aligned with in Off Topic
rocketslayComangliawhile not doing much to actually help the city fight crime all on its owni don't read the comics but from the movie trilogy this isn't true at all, and i'm pretty sure he operates charities in the comics

I could be wrong on that, but from my impression Batman err Bruce doesn't do much to improve the actual police force, other than taking out certain corrupt individuals.

Corporate Billionaire who likes to fight crime via vigilante justice, while not doing much to actually help the city fight crime all on its own. Sounds like a Conservative Libertarian to me. I definitely wouldn't call Batman a fascist though period.

#19 internet question in Off Topic

Just don't do downloads/uploads while playing. Sounds like you're going to be on DSL/VDSL. Make sure you check what upload speed you're getting cause if it isn't VDSL you're looking at 1Mbps Upload which is a nightmare if anyone tries to upload anything.

#616 Comanglia's Config / FPS Guide in Customization
SmAKDoes a 2 core hyper-threaded cpu count as a quad core?

In this case yes, but if you crash within 30minutes of starting tf2 then you might want to switch to the stability one.

huelesswhat commands should i change from the dx 81 config for more fps in dx 9
and which dx lvl 9 is best? 90, 91, 92

The config is setup for best fps regardless of DxLevel most commands are turned off or on even though they have no effect at one of the dxlevels.

Tholestarting around late january, myself and all my friends that play TF2 noticed a huge decrease in the FPS on TF2. Does anyone know why this is? (I didnt think this question deserved its own thread in case its just handful of people having this issue...)

I need to update the config but the jist of it is cl_threaded_bone_setup is no longer a usable command in tf2 and was replaced by a couple other settings.

cl_setup_allbones (or something close that) set that to 0 ; there's a couple other commands I need to add but that's probably the biggest one and I don't remember the others off the top of my head.

#5 Light vs Heavy Mice in Hardware

Guess I forgot to put in my own preference or at least how I've felt about this.

I've been a long time use of the G400 and G400s both of which are 104g and 109g respectively, and every time I've tried a lighter mouse it's felt so weird but usually not because of the weight but the shape, or horribly click latency, or overally smoothed out sensors etc. Having just got a G403 about 2 weeks ago now I've been playing without the added weights and I even removed the magnets to hold the bottom weight holder in place I have it weighing roughly 87g now, and honestly I can't say a lighter mouse is better then again I've only been using it for 2 weeks.

#1 Light vs Heavy Mice in Hardware

Was going through some old spreadsheets I made and found one where I found the mouse weight of most/all of the CSGO pro players. I pulled the data in April 2016 so it's not 100% up to date, but it did make me thing about mouse preferences for players and was curious about how TF.TV felt about it.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yzx9GpLQ1PmIlb86CrsOJlCu0_Dv7kmRLmSVyjcy0RU/edit#gid=0

I had to make some rough estimates here or there and looking over it it looks like for some of the guess work I typically chose the lighter version of a mouse ex. "for the Zowie-EC?-A I used the EC2-A weight" which is the lighter version of the EC series mice so this likely brought my overall average mouse weight down a bit.

Average Mouse Weight 94.84g

Users over 105g-------------------------16.58%
Users over 100g-------------------------32.62% (includes users over 105g)
Users between 90g and 100g------33.69%
Users under 90g-------------------------27.27% (includes users under 85g)
Users under 85g-------------------------12.83%

The common convention I've seen is that lighter mice are typically considered "better" but the average weight and considering how large the number of users over 100g is it makes me reconsider if that statement is actually true, or perhaps my data is to narrow or only reflective of games where the vast majority of users have 14+ inches per 360 and there isn't exactly insane movement going on.

What's your preference or thoughts?
