#11 SteamOS released in Off Topic

#8, that's basically what I meant, not wanting the average user who doesn't know what they're doing is the same as not wanting very many people to use it yet considering the average user who doesn't know what they are doing is by far the vast majority of people using a personal computer.

it's pretty obviously set up as a system restore image so that only enthusiasts who know what they are doing (and much more likely to provide actual feedback) try it out.

rays can you tell me how to srink the damage text numbers, it's too big it makes Ambassador sniping someone consistently harder cause it often covers up their head.

#14 UGC hosting community fundraiser to provide prizes in TF2 General Discussion
SnowyThe UGC steam group is a sham. They spam invite that to anyone who remotely touches UGC.

Then again, it's not like I'm opposed to the prize pool. Hope it works out like you seem to have in mind!

Oh I agree, but there's still a lot of people who play Highlander and care about it, I think it's kind of silly to think it won't hit the 5k pretty fast considering how fast 6s stuff gets funded tbh.

We'll see though! I still think they should add donator medals.

It's 5,000, it's larger than ESEA-M (and even with 9 player 1st in UGC Platinum will award more than ESEA-M), but still smaller than Invite yeah.

They are intentionally limiting it to only 5,000$ for the first season to try it out though.
I think Snowy meant he believes that it will be difficult to raise 5000 dollars in community donations. I'd agree, but I of course hope I'm proven wrong.

According to Infinite, if 10% of the Steam UGC group donated 5$ they'd get 10,000$. I think 5% of the group could reasonably donate 5$. There's a lot of people who play Highlander across the world.

SnowyI doubt the prize pot will be all that large anyway.

#71 Medigun checker script in TF2 General Discussion
blinKDon't think it was intended and I don't think it makes much sense. Probably just nobody gave a shit (what's new in this community) to do anything about it. I'll e-mail them about it and post on forums to see what they say.

it wasn't intended they just accidentally gave the spy the ability to change disguised weapons and added it into the patch notes 4 years ago then didn't notice they added it at all.

coz valve is truly that incompetent.

blinKI did watch it. You really thing that was intended to be there and work like that? I consider you a bright guy atmo, seriously.

Considering Valve intentionally added the ability for the Spy to switch what disguised weapon he has out 4 years ago and Spy has been able to see what his disguised weapon is since the beta, yes it's pretty obvious it is intended to be there and work like that.

#17 integrated hd graphics 4000 fps? in Hardware

You can play TF2 pretty well on integrated cards since the game is 99% CPU based. The only problems you will encounter is Pyro flames if you have shaders set to High (or in DX9) and Spy uncloaking if you have a weaker CPU than the i5. Otherwise you can play and get good FPS on any modern integrated card assuming your CPU is a good one.

Other non-source engine games though will be extremely hit or miss (obviously).

#183 ESEA and CEVO in TF2 General Discussion

ESEA AC:
-Secretly installs itself as a hidden driver.
-Driver doesn't remove itself when you uninstall the client.
-Possibly always running as long as your PC is on (we don't know, but since it's installed as a driver, very well could be)
-Can possibly do anything it wants to with your file system.

VAC AC:
-Specific parts of it are downloaded to your PC as you connect to a VAC secured server and then runs client challenges, you never have the entire AC on your PC, only specific parts that your account is challenged on.
-VAC removes itself the instant you aren't connected to a VAC secured server.
-Only running as long as you're on a VAC secured server.
-Only uploads suspicious code VAC heuristics detects, it can't upload anything except something in memory/process list.

Not even in the same spectrum.
