#840 MAJOR TF2 update for 6/18/14 (6/19/14, Love & War) in TF2 General Discussion
valiant even if they are late doing it.

This is the issue. It's ok for things like the powerjack that's just a slightly different pyro playstyle that in the end doesn't really affect how the entire highlander team operates, but when it comes to the sticky launcher which is the core weapon of one of the core classes in both game modes it does matter that they are late doing it like I said in my earlier post.

ExquisiteStone"lots of really mad people who don't want to improve on how they play and want to keep playing the same old game forever."

More an observation than an opinion :P

It's neither, you're trying to discredit an argument by dismissing the person making the argument as being "mad" or saying "they don't want to improve on how they play and want to keep playing the same old game forever." rather than trying to address what they are saying.

Not necessarily what you'd call insults, but they are a poor method of trying to discredit an opposing viewpoint by commenting on the person making the argument rather than the argument itself.

ExquisiteStonenow you just have to predict better (2 sec ahead)

If you can predict your enemy's movement by a whole 2 seconds (especially at close range) then either your enemy isn't worth playing against or you're literally a savant.

This thread could probably be closed, I barely see anything that would help anyone or the game, including my own posts.
ExquisiteStoneI can't dispute any points any one has made so I'm going to leave, throw out insults to anyone who disagrees with me and then throw out the safety self depreciation so I don't look too bad.

ExquisiteStoneLook, It's a huge nerf if you were always that Spammy demo that didn't want to learn any other aspects of the class

Spamming was one of the biggest aspects of demoman and it isn't as easy as people make out otherwise anyone could just come and be a top demo. If you weren't using spam effectively you weren't a good demoman end of story. The other stuff was important yes, but if you couldn't put out that sticky spam when it was needed then you weren't doing your job as demoman.

And besides that, of course I'm stuck in my old habits. It's hard to get out of habits and mindsets that you've had for (in my case) 3 years in 2 days after an update.

ExquisiteStoneAnd people, come on, it's a tiny nerf, it really worries me that such a nice community like tf2's rages about something like this, not that you should care about how I feel about this, but I'm pretty disappointed.ExquisiteStonetiny nerfExquisiteStonetiny

#813 MAJOR TF2 update for 6/18/14 (6/19/14, Love & War) in TF2 General Discussion

The thing that really confuses me is why did Valve pick now to nerf the sticky launcher? The answer seems to pretty much be the parachute, but the game is 7 years old and the game was well understood. From about just before i46 until about just after i49, class balance never really changed much, new unlocks/changes to existing weapons didn't really have a massive impact to how the game was played and you could see the impact it had, strategies and gamesense were at a better point than ever, when the game has remained roughly constant for that long, you have to concentrate on the smaller deficiencies in your play to get the edge. And now that's gone in an instant. Someone commented earlier about how no one would be complaining if this had happened 6 months after the initial release of the game and that's right, it would have been OK then, people would have adapted and 7 years worth of strategies and gamesense would have been built on that. Now it's back to square one with everyone learning.

What I would be interested to see is the reaction of people who currently support the update if it were to be reverted.

#1 Quick Sync on your (Intel) integrated GPU in OBS in Hardware

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-qWHbFIzqk

tl;dw If you have an Intel CPU that supports Quick Sync (you can see this on the technical specs of your CPU, everything from Sandybridge onwards should support it apart from lower end chips) you can use this instead of h264 encoding for your stream, meaning your CPU doesn't have to deal with h264 and its integrated GPU (which otherwise wouldn't be doing anything) can deal with encoding.

Edit: should probably mention you go into settings->encoding and then change the radio button from x264 to Quick Sync

#10 pick/ban system in TF2 General Discussion
edyThere's no point to having new maps in dota because the map layout will most likely be the same because that's what the same is based around (having a mid, having a jungle, having an offlane, etc) where as tf2 is an fps game. FPS games use different maps, so that's a bad example.

I don't think it's really different than your general 5cp map having a mid point, two second points and two lasts, with usually a choke, a more open area, and a flank route to link two points. You can keep the lanes and the towers and whatever else the same, but with different routes between. That said, I could be talking out of my arse because I'm by no means a moba player.

#7 pick/ban system in TF2 General Discussion

I like how Robin Walker says TF2 needs to innovate with weapons and uses DotA 2 as an example, a game with what like 120 heroes that have different abilities and can make use of different items in different ways, often sharing items between heroes whereas TF2 is 90% cosmetics or gimmicky weapons among 9 (usually 4 though) classes with few multiclass weapons. Also TF2 has innovation in different areas, we have a good number of maps to play whereas so far as I know, DotA 2 only has one.

#125 PC Build Thread in Hardware
Setsul300W should be more than enough (saves another 10$ and keeps it under 500$).

Keep in mind that you can't enable C6/7 states (should be disabled by default) with a lot of low-end PSUs (including Seasonic SS-xxxES/ET) or "things" will happen.

I'd have recommended a 300W except I don't know of any that aren't no-name pieces of shit, and at least with a 400-500W PSU he could upgrade to a decent midrange GPU without upgrading his PSU.

I'd drop the PSU to a Corsair RM450 if it's cheaper, you definitely don't need more than 500W, especially with a 750ti. Also it might be cheaper for you to go to an matx case and save a bit on both the motherboard and case.
