#4 Generic pnp monitor problem? in Hardware
chugsTwilitlordDoes he have multiple monitors? In the screen resolution window, before clicking "Advanced Settings", make sure he has the correct monitor selected, otherwise it will only give you refresh rate options for the other monitor. It will list itself as "Generic PnP monitor" with almost any monitor; that just means it doesn't require any drivers.

Also, are you sure he has the right monitor? the 144hz is the VG248QE.

He has one monitor and the v248H is 120hz.

Do you have a link to a 120hz V248H? I couldn't find it at all, only the VE248H and the VS248H, neither of which are 120hz.

What cable is he using to connect to the monitor? Either way, Asus usually have their monitors named in Windows so even if it isn't 120hz, it still shouldn't show as a Generic PnP Monitor.

#49 i52 Media Coverage in TF2 General Discussion

3 isn't infeasible, we have some options. Half time analysis doesn't work in Europe since we don't do half time, but we do have analysis between maps. We did have some twitter stuff at i49, skully had tweet deck open the entire time he wasn't casting but we can work on that.

d4m0Appreciate the responses guys. I'm glad pretty much everything I didn't like about the i49 stream is being considered/worked on :)

You could run multiple tf2 instances per computer, ideally one per player pov, and record each of them separately.... perhaps those could be run without the streaming mods etc to save on processing power+make for a different sort of look for those replays. Again, it would be a technical juggle.

Reeeeally excited for the event now guys, thanks everyone!
(Sorry for hijacking your thread Tagg -- I'm also looking forward to what you're cooking up!)

That's too much processing for one computer to do, streaming a single TF2 instance is hard enough, and that entire set up would be way to much to deal with just for replays, we could spend the time elsewhere and gain a better increase in production values.

d4m0-Replays.
-Cuts to the players' faces.
-Mumble comm
-Perhaps some slightly higher quality player models and other textures could be used in the streaming hud as well, the game could look pretty amazing.
-Please also use that caster cheat mod
-I also don't know if it's technically possible but if you can download and rewind the stv while the match is still being played, that'd be swell.

1 already looking into it, it's very hard to set up, but theoretically possible given the right resources

2 we did that at i49 a bit, very much depends on the players location in the halls, we could only do it a bit at i49 because HRG and iM were next to each other and the VTV booth.

3 done this before, hard to set up and harder on lan with multiple different mumbles to swap between

4 not much we can do other than run the game on max

5 we always do use it

6 not technically possible (to the best of my knowledge) and we don't have the manpower

There are already plans in the works for using the extra funds raised, and there are plans in the works for better/more lan coverage.

Tagg does raise a good point about how lan coverage has worked, we're looking at improving what we show and how we show it. Previously the best way of doing that has been lan movies, i.e. the i46 documentary and the hopefully upcoming i49 "fragumentary", which can capture the lan atmosphere to an extent, but 10+ months later.

HueyLewisReilly I've used a folding banquet table as my desk for a while now and its honestly been the best desk I've owned. Just bought another one to make it L-shaped. $50 total. I took a pic that's prolly too big for the forum but here's a link to what I did.
