svfreyIs there any way to remove/unhook the bitcoin mining code outside of a reformat? Was the malicious code ever specifically delineated at any point in that court document?

Per lpkane words.

If you're are not happy with eseas client you can "delete the client, and format"

PlatinumWould you leave your girlfriend if she put a camera in your room? If you left her without a decent prospect, you may feel morally sound, but you're not getting laid for a long time.

To some people it is not that simple. I use my desktop for work often and 90% of my work is proprietary information that, above all, must remain secret. The fact that ESEA has said nothing about their privacy policies, and adding a client that could not be uninstalled, is too damning to some people. While it's unlikely that ESEA was taking anything other than GPU power, it's too much of a risk anymore.

The main reason that I truly believe that they were doing something worse than they are letting on is how quickly they basically signed over the right to control their own business. They must now hire a 3rd party that the AG agrees to and this person has the final say on their new client. That is a lot of power to give up if you didn't do something extremely wrong. Add in the fact that they settled out of court, so that no-one had to testify, just gives me the creeps.

Fuck this, I sent a message to lkplane that we would send a class action lawsuit on Ohio too if he did not remove the ban. I don't think that he will drop this shit, so I am calling in a shit ton of favors to sue the fuck out ESEA. These are high level lawyers in the political community that are going to do a class action lawsuit in Ohio, if anyone wants to be involved, please let us know.

HereThereBeTygersDoes that mean you're just banned from posting on ESEA? Or are you not allowed to play in ESEA anymore either?

Both actually, but since I have a VPN, I've been making accounts to explain how much BS the ban was. I never directly said "fuck esea." I only wanted some answers and explained what is going on within the TF2 community.

What do you guys think is the over/under payout for me getting banned for this completely true post

I really feel like you are taking this as a fucking joke. Many adults that play in ESEA are getting quite annoyed how you're dodging many questions that we actually have about the practices that ESEA has chosen over the years.

Most companies would attempt to answer the questions that the base have, but you have done nothing but ignore them. You're acting like you're the victim from doing something that is illegal, yet you should be happy that your company only has to pay 1/3 of the fine. Yes, you still have to deal with the class action soon, so I am sure you do not want to say anything that can screw you over more. There has been a lot of talks about the TF2 community leaving for another league because of what happened, and worse the lack of a real response from you.

I am glad that a state stood up for the consumer. How can anyone deny that you, and your company did wrong with the whole bitcoin issue. I can honestly say that from your responses that I am going everything that I can to get people to move to a new league.

Lastly, the analogizes have been subpar, at best. It's like going into a restaurant and ordering a meal but getting something that you didn't want. After complaining to the management, they do not care so you pay your bill. Afterwords, you find out that they are still talking money from you even though you have already paid the bill and want to walk away (being unable to uninstall)

To the jackass that said hooks are needed for anticheats, there is very little truth in that. You would NEVER need a hook after an uninstall. It was hidden for a reason. It's basically a virus. I urged people to look at the what happened logically, and leave a league that only cares about money and not gaming. There is many more leagues that are willing to talk to us about what is happening with what they are going to do in future, like ETF2L for NA, and even CEVO at this point.

Oh, the other thing that I remember getting pissed off about was when I rang for Wirex team during playoffs against (I think crack clan, before I joined) and explained to the head admin that he was using a wallhack during that match while playing Medic. I even gave a mumble recording of him saying that he was using a wallhack so just trust me, I know what is going to happen. The sad thing was I never even got a response from anyone.

I am not trying to shit on the league, there is just a few people that are still around now.

Oh, and lastly, the client used to cause huge ping spikes. It could be fixed now.

Pipher, I think one of the biggest issues that TF2 players had to deal with was the fact the almost zero admins, (back in the day of like season 1+2) didn't even play TF2, if I remember correctly.

PS- Is anyone else really annoyed that sooo many people on the ESEA's forum are defending him so much. What the hell would the reason be to do this? I really don't understand.

#43 ESEA Settles Bicoin Mining Lawsuit in Esports
DigresserslateDigresser...
(OH GOOD, THE VICTIMS WILL BE COMPENSATED WITH THE SWEET KNOWLEDGE THAT NEW JERSEY WILL AVENGE THEM BY ADVOCATING THEIR PRIVACY. THAT'S A THOUGHT THAT WILL KEEP BETRAYED PLAYERS WARM THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT-NO WAIT, SORRY, THAT'S ACTUALLY THE HEAT OF THEIR MELTING GRAPHICS CARDS.)
...

seriously? What did you expect? that the ESEA Userbase gets money? for what?

If you(or anyone for that matter) felt like you deserved compensation because your Hardware was damaged (or whatever), you should have sued them yourself.

No, the ESEA client is not something I've ever been interested in downloading. My comment (which was partially in jest) was in regard to how the New Jersey State Legislature is choosing to divide the ESEA penalty. Less than a third for consumer privacy programs seems a bit low. What's more, I'd have liked to have seen that money earmarked for more than just consumer privacy programs. Using some of it to set up resources for people who feel their privacy agreement with an online company has been broken or exploited would be a good investment, for instance.

Also, while it is important that ESEA had to pay for their violations (and be made example of), it isn't actually restitution. Restitution would involve compensating the victims of the their actions. To my knowledge, the only way that can happen is if those affected by ESEA's "unconscionable commercial practices" file a consumer class action lawsuit. Whether or not that would be worth pursuing, however, I don't know.

Well, there is a class action lawsuit in California. The fact that NJ actually forced a civil trial for this is, honestly, kinda cool.

Finally he responded on how to uninstall the client

#249
Has Lpkane even explained why when you unintall the client, it doesn't fully uninstall itself? I don't believe I have seen any kind of statement on why this the case. Even if 100% of everything that he said was true, which I don't even think it close to being true, why does the uninstaller not work as it should?

That alone should be suspect. Why should anyone believe that you did nothing wrong as a company, when this still hasn't been fixed? I personally, do not think you're being honest from your statements, and I think you're trying to escape questions that you do not want to answer. You may quote them, but it's usually just pointing to an official statement as if that answers specifics questions that people have.

#265 you should cancel your subscription, uninstall the client, and then format your pc if you are not comfortable with our service
