#33 Help bp get to ESEA LAN! in TF2 General Discussion
harbleuthe truth

When I watch tf2 streams, I really want, above all else, to watch top teams scrimming other top teams. I like to see how they work as a team, how they perceive advantages, how they react and all that stuff and it really doesn't make sense to me why there isn't more people streaming it. There are a ton of people on the top 4 teams that have shown they are capable of streaming and yet I really only see tri doing it on a somewhat consistent basis. Watching a player play in a pub or surf is really only so interesting. We have four really smart and good teams going to lan, I doubt there are things that will melt the brains of the other invite teams when it comes to streaming a scrim with normal comms. And if there is, it isn't like a team wouldn't be able to figure it out through playing the team, asking another team that played them or watching an stv. If people want to discuss super secret strats that they will only use at lan, talk about it after the stream, mute the stream, turn off the stream and turn it back on, get a program to mute mumble on the stream and keep going.

Also harbleu, keep on streaming man even if it becomes what the cool invite kids do again. Watching you smack Alyx with a Chinese food box or drift off in your own world while scrimming is so much fun. <3

#145 i49 in TF2 General Discussion

Sorry to be off-topic a bit (or if old news) but it seems Sal is active in this thread.

To anyone associated with extv, I found a public directory with, whats looks to be, all of the raw footage for that is for the i46 documentary (uncut interviews, travel footage, ambient crowd footage, player footage, voice overs, etc). If such a thing should not exist, please add me on steam and I can help out as much as I can. If it is old news, I am sorry. But if it is not old news and gets ok'd by someone, I will be posting a link to it.

#66 Incident Wrap-up in TF2 General Discussion

If anyone is looking for the most relatable event in esports, this is probably it.

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/NaNiwa's_Blizzard_Cup_Controversy

The match had no drastic affect on the standings (both were out of the tournament), it was a match that many people wanted to see (the guys had a rivalry) and one side throw the match while the other prepared for the match and wanted to show the people a good show.

Of course it isn't exactly the same but there are parallels that can be drawn. The fact is that if a match doesn't affect standings, the opponent and the viewers are not expecting anything from you, than most people really don't care. No one is going to make 15 threads about the match Plat went huntsman in a game vs. AG that wasn't "properly" streamed, didn't change the lan race, didn't have high expectations from viewers, didn't affect anything and ended with both teams laughing in mumble afterwards. Once one of the factors comes into play, people and teams really need to question what they should do next.

FT don't owe me anything, I don't pay them and they didn't promise me anything. However when all that excitement immediately turns into disappointment, it sucks (like a shitty end to a great television series). It is weird saying this but if teams worry about public perception take a note from starcraft and know how to throw games. Half-ass it, put on a facade and give the viewers a 5-3 game as we probably won't notice that your not trying your best if the casters are good.

Do some kinda wonky build (move around Seagull/Seanbud and give him a DH) and try (IE AG v. CC, 5-2 with all mains but a FaN here and a quick-fix there). Seagull has shown to be a good scout earlier this season and Seanbud has a sick DH, there might be rumblings of throwing but nothing close to what happened.

Get it over quickly, do a risky strategy that will either win or lose you the game. A lot of kritz, pushes and playing overly-agressive, give the casters SOMETHING to hype and yell about and the viewers may ignore the fact it was a 5-1 15 minute game.

syncGen_CavemanIf you look at it with the context of the DJC part, that would make sense.

PlatinumCHEERISSTF2 -- the next soap opera. Next up: DJC has a love affair with 7 different women and possibly 3 dudes. And Seanbud supports legalization of weed in all states. Platinum has decided to clone himself 5 times to make the ultimate super-team..... Gabe what have you done!?!
:P

Those scouts would blow.

If you look at it with the context of the DJC part, that would make sense.

#27 The response... in TF2 General Discussion
harbleuseanbud"Wanted lower seed to play bp": The goal at the start of this season was to make LAN with friends. Lange and I had never been to LAN and we have been on successful teams with brad in IM and enjoyed tf2 with Brad. We didn't think we were going to be a TOP TOP team or go undefeated, but we wanted to make the LAN. Last night we finally did after making it more stressful than it should have been by losing to vector. We could care less about the seed. bp, mix, and chess are all good teams.talked with people on ur team they said otherwise. i cant take this post seriously if you wont admit to this.

This is probably the most important thing that stills needs to be addressed. Harbleu has been bringing this up in threads since the "event" and I am under the assumption that he is not doing so completely unfounded.

Edit: Less important points

Seanbudafter they made us wait 30 min to start

You really can't say Xensity made you wait 30 min, ESEA did.

Seanbuda lot of what is said is "speculation" about our motives

That is in large part a problem that FT has, viewers can really only speculate on FT's actions. I mean, to this day, people have to say "I assume..." when talking about PYYYOUR's stream going private and him removing a bunch of people off friends. Until this thread, the only response by FT was that there wouldn't be an explanation given except, maybe/perhaps, on fully charged. Even now seanbud, you are the only person from your team to say anything on this. This thread is a good step in the right direction and FT shouldn't get bashed on Fully Charged / Casts without some say but FT has a problem with communication and that is a problem that needs to be worked on.

#30 Charity lives on in TF2 General Discussion

I plan on joining in and donating and I don't think this event should dissuade most of us who already planned to go to the charity. To anyone who thinks this charity event is suddenly corrupt because of this event is obviously closed minded and needs to promptly remove their head from their asses.

However I do see a problem if this line of thinking

seanbudyou won't see anything else posted from me or anyone on my team regarding what happened tonight.

persists.

Right now, seanbud's stream is the main spot for donations/advertising and, if this attitude persists, I don't see a time in the immediate future where his chat wouldn't be eventually filled with people flaming and/or asking for answers. I can also say that a lot of people may have reservations watching sean's stream with regularity again (Myself included, cbear making an apology thread while FT refusing to possibly ever comment doesn't sit well with me).

The problem that may arise is that the charity could possibly become about FT hate through association which would be horrible.

#46 Charity Event Polls in TF2 General Discussion

I am thinking back to the kritzkast 24 hour thing, there can also be a gift giving spree. Why not give pros/celebrities a bunch of secret saxtons that they just spam randomly or right before they leave? It might be extra incentive to donate if you might get a GRU signed by Notch. Or you could have it be a separate event that can be donated into where pros spam secret saxtons.

Edit: Damn I am posting a bit to much but now I am thinking that having another joke type raffle, like the dota keys, might be good. What I am thinking of is just have a raffle that includes 100 gibuses, I think having a few of these joke raffles would get a bit of a cult following in the twitch chat "You can keep your signed star unusual, I am going for those gibuses

http://www.twitchtvfaces.com/images/Kappa.png

".

#44 Charity Event Polls in TF2 General Discussion

I am not sure if this has been brought up (and if it has, than this long post is for nothing) but I think Ultiduo should be considered for the list of activities during the weekend. The main I reason I bring it up is that I think it would fit perfectly into a AGDQ type stream which this sounds like it is going to be like.

The amount of input/donations the fans can have is much more than what the fans can get with something like MGE. The fans can donate towards weapons, pairings and what pairings face each other. I can imagine a lot of donations for things like a seanbud/lange combo, quick fix/direct hit or rocket jumper/market gardener with star. Also we get the banter between the players and combos, which is entertaining for the viewers.

Also has there been any attempt to get in touch with Celebrity Mixup guys to see if they can pull their contacts to get some more celebrities? Imagine an Ultiduo game with Simon and Lewis playing against top donators, "bets" on a best 2 of 3 MGE with Freddie Wong and Day[9], donators playing in a highlander pug with Robin Walker vs Notch. They are going to have busy schedules but if it is made clear that it is going to be fifteen minutes of their time over a two day period, you might get some bites.

Edit: Also make sure to have celebrities advertising about the event to be a much stronger priority than what it seemed like over at mixup. On a side note, getting Totalbiscuit into the equation would be a really good thing, the dude knows how to market and gets asses in the seats. I think having him shout-cast one of the highlander donators pubs would be hilarious and entertaining.
