#11 RIP QUN in TF2 General Discussion

Qun is notable for being one of the first high level TF2 players to put videos of comms and gameplay up regularly on Youtube, he did it before the age of streaming and lots of content - Honestly watching his POVs was so helpful for me to learn what it was like to be in a top team, in terms of how they communicate and how they play. And the i43 videos were legendary, I still remember watching them win the greatest TF2 match I ever saw (except maybe mix^ v LG at S12 LAN) in the Lower Bracket final vs TCM.

So it's always sad news to see an old face leave the scene, but Qun hadn't been active for a long time, but he is certainly a legend for being a first.

Though let's not talk about Qun LAN and the stuff he wrote about my Highlander Medic skills on Youtube comments. :D

#33 EG Chance's Quake Bible in TF2 General Discussion

It's a really good read, certainly the bits about "focusing in the moment" - One big issue I see in our game, being a Team Game people react to their team's mistakes too much rather than focusing on the current situation. It is something I have had to learn over time, greatly inproving my performances (as a leader, and individually) and seen reflected in my team's result. At least I do this in matches anyway...

Yet I've seen people play this game for years and never change their response to a mistake or a loss and wonder why they aren't being successful.

Why would anyone give a shit about this? It's disrespectful to judge people how they spend their free time, mind your own business because nobody sane gives a shit - What a shit topic, please remove, thanks.

#13 eXtv launches Patreon Campaign in News
AndeeWouldn't it be alot more productive, to investigate ways of combining a large TF2 content website, like tf.tv with a community-run or proffesional TF2 league supporting several formats, like 6vs6, highlander, ultiduo, etc.

One big massive platform to increase page views drastically. This would attract more sponsors, advertising compagnies and perhaps create competitive player influx. Which could in the long run grow into LAN support, better and more high-end competition, more coverage, streaming etc. We've got all these little islands, like vanillatf2, etf2l, esea, cevo, tf.tv, extv etc. But none of them seem to have the potential to grow into something big. Either due to the lack of money, or technical issues with the backend, or scamming scandals, etc.

I always liked the idea that Admirable posted here some time ago. I think that's the only way to bring TF2 to a higher level, if there is still enough time to do so :)

Yes but eXtv are a casting organisation, not a community or a league - Perhaps this is something for the community to aim for one day. F

For now - I shall subscribe!

#12 Uber Counting in TF2 General Discussion

I use a very simple method, whilst not perfect to the second is simple enough to work. I use my own charge rate to calculate it, so if I have 75% on mid and we know they're on Kritz, they have it. Or if you kill their medic and you live, you see how much uber charge you have, press tab and see when they respawn - that is your advantage. Or if you both die but you don't meet a teammate for 5 seconds, you know ubers charge at 2.5% per second at maximum rate, so potentially they could have a 10-13% ubercharge advantage. You can never account for enemy building it slowly, but you can anticipate if you built slowly, and put it into consideration. Timing doesn't have to be perfect, unless you aim to play off tiny, tiny advantages which tends to be risky.

I learn the spawn timings for every map (important for KOTH) - See when either medic dies, anticipate the change of medi-guns and take them into consideration. Of course I know some nerdier medics wrote a whole guide to counting uber - http://tf2.co.za/tutorials/mgeesea-comp-guide-an-introduction-to-the-medic/

#13 Am I good enough to play in competitive TF2? in Q/A Help

Anyone can play competitive, start at the bottom, work your way up - If you're too good for the lowest level, you can possibly go a bit higher but you don't know until you try. So just get into it and get playing, PUGs, DM, Demo Reviews, even public will help you improve your game.

And to give you some motivation, I started in Division 6 (lowest level of European TF2) and I play in Premiership (Highest level in HL and 6v6) now for both Highlander and 6v6 - So anyone can get to the top level if they want to put the effort in and have the right attitude.

#68 MLG in TF2 General Discussion

Sadly I don't know enough about MLG to get involved on an organisational level, I am sure (hope) though with the right people getting in contact they can make this work.

Question is will this become another forgotten Ladder like ESL or will it go somewhere?
