#24 tftv i49 fundraiser in TF2 General Discussion
ndustWhy don't we just buy a spot at some big tournament here in America? Is that even possible? lol
I don't think a repeat of i46 would be very exciting, especially due to the fact that only one team is going.

Price to send a team to i46: $10,000
Price to buy a spot at DH and all other costs: $50,000 USD

That's why.

#29 windows 7 vs windows 8 in Hardware

Windows 8 + classic shell. Faster OS >

Not worth upgrading if you use win7, but if you're buying a new OS, getting anything but 8 is stupid.

hookyJust tested IE10 and it does the dash time thing.

And I got an Entertaimnent Tonight interview... it's about 2:15 long. Isn't this a little excessive?

Don't control the ads on the site. Will forward to the correct people.

Some people are having this issue and some are not. This will be fun. Stop making me work on the weekend.

atmoWhile we're complaining about twitch, what was the rationale behind segmenting vods into 30 minute sections? Because the outcome seems to be that it is more frustrating to buffer them and complicated to download.

Technical reasons for this. I'm not aware of how/why, but that's what I know.

Popout is working fine for me and I've heard no reports of bugs involving this.

The VoD thing, I'm not sure. I'll submit a bug report and we'll look into it. Is this only on Chrome?

gametheoryTwitchTVJohnNot sure where you're from, but if you happen to live in Cali, take a trip to the bay area during beer week. A lot of happy fun times to be had. I spent 4 hours in line for Pliny the Younger and it was well worth it. Life changing beer.
Am I lucky if I"ve got Pliny the Elder on tap at a local bar?

Elder is great, but it's not uncommon at all, so no :P

DarkstarI also use to manage a retail store (Gamestop) until i realized what a terrible company it was not only from an employee standpoint but from a customer standpoint.

Every once in a while, I enjoy going into a Gamestop. I'll ask the employee if he's ever played like.. Dragon Slayer Champion 2. They will always respond with "yeah man that's one of my favorite games too!"

Then you leave knowing that the person is an idiot.

DunderBroTwitchTVJohnEsports.

Prior to this job, I worked in healthcare. Never do that. Ever.
how does one get a job at twitch, jobs at google, twitch, facebook etc have always felt like something that you can't get, you just envy people that have gotten it.

Also what exactly do you do?

Welp, I found my boss on Twitter. He was funny. I started following him and we chatted regularly via gay @tweets at eachother. We became pretty close. He was aware with how miserable I was in my previous position. To give you an idea - I was making a lot of money. More than I knew what to do with, but I was miserable. Dreaded going to work every day. Drank too much, too. He had started at Twitch probably 9 months before that or so? One day, he called me from a bar and said "do you want a job?"

Was a difficult decision, really. I was moving across the country (from Pittsburgh, PA) 6 months after I had lost my father. Leaving my mother behind was the most difficult thing I've ever done. Occasionally I think I regret it. She pushed me to go, though. She knew it would make me happy. I have 2 sisters and a brother at home in Pitt, so they keep her company.

Packed up my shit a month after that phone call and drove across the country to work here. Took a massive pay cut and I didn't give a shit. It's a blast. It's a lot more work than people realize, but that's a good thing. You never work a day in your life if you believe in what you're trying to create.

I am the Manager of our Partnerships team. This involves pretty much every aspect of Network Development and Strategic Partnerships, not just "partner my channel!!"

It's fun. I work a lot, though.

As for how to get a job here, google, facebook etc.. Code. Lots of code.
