DunderBroTwitchTVJohnEsports.
Prior to this job, I worked in healthcare. Never do that. Ever.
how does one get a job at twitch, jobs at google, twitch, facebook etc have always felt like something that you can't get, you just envy people that have gotten it.
Also what exactly do you do?
Welp, I found my boss on Twitter. He was funny. I started following him and we chatted regularly via gay @tweets at eachother. We became pretty close. He was aware with how miserable I was in my previous position. To give you an idea - I was making a lot of money. More than I knew what to do with, but I was miserable. Dreaded going to work every day. Drank too much, too. He had started at Twitch probably 9 months before that or so? One day, he called me from a bar and said "do you want a job?"
Was a difficult decision, really. I was moving across the country (from Pittsburgh, PA) 6 months after I had lost my father. Leaving my mother behind was the most difficult thing I've ever done. Occasionally I think I regret it. She pushed me to go, though. She knew it would make me happy. I have 2 sisters and a brother at home in Pitt, so they keep her company.
Packed up my shit a month after that phone call and drove across the country to work here. Took a massive pay cut and I didn't give a shit. It's a blast. It's a lot more work than people realize, but that's a good thing. You never work a day in your life if you believe in what you're trying to create.
I am the Manager of our Partnerships team. This involves pretty much every aspect of Network Development and Strategic Partnerships, not just "partner my channel!!"
It's fun. I work a lot, though.
As for how to get a job here, google, facebook etc.. Code. Lots of code.
