#55 Incident Wrap-up in TF2 General Discussion
ScorpiouprisingTwitchTVJohnTeams in professional sports throw games to get the seed they want for the playoffs. This is not something new in esports or real sports for that matter. These teams do not get fined for this.

The Olympics are weird. When it comes to professional sports, the bottom tier of teams lose intentionally to try to get the first draft pick. It's smart.

#10 nine team invite in TF2 General Discussion

Getting a team to commit to taking a beating seems to be fairly difficult. What Vector did this season is out of the norm and they should be given props. That said, stop being sissy girls and move up if you're too good for IM. Thanks.

Why don't we implement a draft system? We can watch all of the lower end teams intentionally throw their games for the first draft pick in the following ESEA-I season.

Because generally these teams have 2nd and 3rd-string players they can throw out there to play under the guise of "getting them actual experience", however you don't have that luxury in Invite, see here:

Offclassing. Same deal.

Also, with everything positive that has happened in TF2 over these last 6-8 months, it really rustles my jimmies to see that the biggest "story" in this community is the thing that was the most negative. Get over it. Move forward.

Don't get me wrong - what they did was inconsiderate and people have every right to be upset. However, people are acting like this is some cardinal sin and nothing like this has ever happened. People earn their way into the playoffs. The goal after that is trying to get the matchups you want to go as deep as possible.

frknTwitchTVJohnAgree with everything but the FT fine. Really, unless it's stated in the conduct policy that they aren't allowed to throw a match/not take it seriously, the fine is meh.ESEA_RULESWe reserve the right to change, modify, or adapt all rules as deemed appropriate by ESEA in order to uphold and maintain a spirit of overall fairness and good sportsmanship.
All players and teams are to uphold the spirit of fair play at all times.

Throwing a match/seed fixing is not in a spirit of fairness and good sportsmanship.

Teams in professional sports throw games to get the seed they want for the playoffs. This is not something new in esports or real sports for that matter. These teams do not get fined for this.

Agree with everything but the FT fine. Really, unless it's stated in the conduct policy that they aren't allowed to throw a match/not take it seriously, the fine is meh. They can do what they want in their matches. They shouldn't be worried about ESEA getting involved, as the players are paying to play. They shouldn't be worried about anything other than the community and the spectators being super pissed.

my 2 cents

#40 Open playoff picture in TF2 General Discussion
mopen playoff excuses thread

also for the record, the team with the hardest ex-invite carry pretty much never does well in playoffs.

solid teams will outplay the one or two allstars dudes 9/10 times

not knocking johns team OR saying they dont have a solid lineup, but it seems like every season some "sandbagging" team that has a couple of faceroll regular season matches and blows it in playoffs

unless you take ukms approach and just reform your invite team in open

This is my first season of open. I played in Cevo Main in like S4. Zalfy played a season of invite after Cevo. Wieks played in Cevo with us too. The rest of the team has never played a full season of ESEA TF2. I don't agree with that being "sandbagging". Every season open has 4-5 teams that are better than the rest (we are not this) and the rest of the teams are scratching for a playoff spot. (This is us.) One player does not win games for teams. Chemistry wins games for teams.
