#22 Comp.tf - A competitive tf2 wiki? in Projects
flatlineFor each class, we should have a section on sixes and one on highlander--i see the class pages that are edited right now are mostly just giant blobs of text

but it's okay because this wiki is like 40 minutes old

It's pretty normal, right now there are about 20 different people editing pages, everyone is writing in a different style, but at least everyone is creating content...

Once we got enough content settled in, we should (and will) start working on some guidelines and improving quality of the pages.

WaldoThis. We could just have a generic class page, which shows class information, and two separate pages, one for each format, which shows format-specific information.

I thought about it, not sure what the best decision is tbh, we could have a giant class page that would encompass everything about that class in the different gamemodes, or a class page for each gamemode. That should be decided in the near future.

WaldoI'm adding in sniper and soldier stuff, make sure to link pages together as often as possible. This is what makes wikis so navigable, so every time you say "Medic" make sure to link it back to the medic page, etc.

exactly, internal links are advised when possible. It makes the user experience much smoother and is also good for editors

Thanks for all the support! It is really exciting to watch this thing skyrocket!

Please remember to backup your edits on a txt file or something, with so many people editing the same pages at the same time it can lead to confusion and lost data.

The site is currently a completely clean installation of mediawiki, so it's like a big canvas waiting to be explored, feel free to be creative, and try not to mess other users work.

hanbroloI love the idea! I hope you have some sort of system to prevent people from trolling, and something to make sure information is accurate. EG: I could see a page about interp having lots of confusing and contradictory information if it's a collaboration so it'd probably be best to have it come from a reputable source. If that could be implemented this could be great!

I am aware of this, also I am not very familiar with mediawiki, but I will try to learn the most I can in the near future so i can start making some changes. Particularly thinking about user groups, setting a decent homepage, start adding active users to "admin/mods" groups and etc... If this gets enough help I will work my best on it. I just need everyone to be on board.

Edit: depending on the support this gets, I will eventually think about moving to a dedicated host, currently hosting it on a shared account I have for all my other sites.

#1 Comp.tf - A competitive tf2 wiki? in Projects

The idea was born at the beginning of this year, I always had this idea to make a central hub for all things related to competitive tf2 to be able to help out newbies with lots of guides and even experienced players with information more easily accessible, so I bought the domain like in January and decided to start working on it. It looked something like this originally screen

I posted about it back in april on these forums , and it got a few visits but I never got the motivation back to finish it.

So a few days ago I read on a post around here somewhere about a competitive wiki that had players profiles and it struck me, instead of working on a basic wp site and doing it all by myself a wiki would be so much better for this kind of thing, and besides I could get the community working on it as well...

If you want to help out, just register an account at comp.tf and start writing stuff...

About anything, from class guides, to map guides or even player profiles, everything goes now, if I get enough participation from the community I will start creating guidelines and user groups but for now everyone registered should be able to create and edit.

Let's make this a point of reference for our scene, if we could manage to write a comprehensive guide for competitive tf2 to where we could direct every beginner it would be great for our scene

Let me know what you think.

http://www.playigl.com/ladder/standings/1/Team+Fortress+2/

16 full teams on 6v6
20 full teams on Highlander

Only 6 matches played!

What's missing? We're thinking of adding a "Live" option to the matchmaker to allow people to join in on matches/pugs/scrimmages taking place at that time. What else would facilitate the rev up of these ladders?

PS. The events platform is about to be released (it's freakishly awesome) and the league technology is being upgraded for a release sometime in the next 90 days.

Well Im not so sure about that but I was hyped to play, all up to the fact I'm an euro and we got excluded of all the fun :(

But anyway, I think if you do release those features soonish it will certainly be the go-to place, even if it doesn't become the main highlander league immediately with a good enough scrim system which is non existant atm in the scene, it could really shift the entire highlander scene to it.

#14 Lawena v4.0 is out. in Videos

So I had this bug with the vdm files feature and quantic walked me through the fix, it was some issue with the updater, so I redownloaded a .jar file and everything was alright.

Then I have had this strange bug with the hitsounds and chat not disabling properly for ages in any recording tool, I have tried almie's, demobuddy, old lawena, everything, and it never work. Turns out class specific configs are run on demo's as well and somehow my custom class configs were overriding the lawena settings even though they weren't even on the custom folder (I dont even have an idea how that could happen). This guy, quantic, helped me solve this 2 issues, even though the 2nd one was my own fault, he still helped me. After like 4-5 months trying to solve it finally I did it with his help.

This tool is in very good hands now, and I have nothing but respect for him for helping me and taking (a lot) of his time to do it! <3

Protatoafter launching lawena once, i lost everything in my custom folder (replaced by lawena stuff)
cool.

Never happened to me, and anyway the folder should still be somewhere in the tf2 directory, just under a different name, all lawena does is copying everything to a different place and renaming it

Besides, you should know to backup all your data when using this kind of software.

This guy quantic has been doing an amazing job with lawena, the improvements and features He added are awesome. The auto updater is the icing on the cake, seriously I see a whole new future for tf2 moviemaking

#5 TF2 demo smoothing still broken? in TF2 General Discussion

I sent an email to the tf2 team a week ago about demo playback bugs and demo smoothing bugs, if more people send maybe they will start taking notice.
