m@kaneco everybody in europe is like 10 feet from eachother and they have 3 lans a year that anybody can go to so im not sure if youre being sarcastic or not but its not a good point
I'm saying Europe doesn't have a p2p league, not even 3 lans a year and we are still here, and growing
P-bodyThe icon-only templates for YouTube/Steam/Twitch are done now.
many thanks...
There seems to be something wrong with the youtube template page tho, both are showing icons only
(btw, this is a pet peeve of mine, but is there any way possible the default would be with the icon only? Like instead of the variable Icon=yes at the end you change that to the text=yes, so the default is icon only) sry for being picky
downpourTouchywithout a lan the scene will die.AndKennethWe all want to see someone better come around but that's just not going to happen unless there is money in it. If we could do a good tournament with LAN finals without ESEA we would definitely be better off, but that just aint gonna happen at the moment, so supporting our abusive father is all that's going to happen right now.
I'm not a ridiciously high level player but I never really got the appeal of NEEDING a lan.
I mean its nice to have one and frankly I think its sounds exciting for those involved but does it really make or break a league?
Also their probably going to go get fucked in court.
see: Europe
OhHaiDareMake some invite player pages if anyone can.
You can always do them yourself! Thats the wiki purpose!

P-bodyKanecogive me 5 minsIt allows conditional instructions (if/switch) that make creating templates much easier. For example, I'll be able to switch between text/no text in the templates I created without having to create a new one.
What are its features btw?
I see... Done btw
Also, should I enable this or not? (I enabled it already just in case but I'm not so sure what it does and apparently it's optional
If you want to use the integrated string function functionality, add just after that line
$wgPFEnableStringFunctions = true;
P-bodyKanecoThose templates are sick btw, but any chance you could remove the text altogether and just leave the image linking to the profile? Or create new templates for Icon only without text. I think it would look more like in liquidpedia and certainly look much better when grouped in player profilesI can do that, sure. By the way, can you get this extension installed? It would help a lot with so much template stuff. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ParserFunctions
give me 5 mins
What are its features btw?
RJAre mod member "applications" still open? I'm planning to work on a lot of the formatting for the links and map pages as well.
I'd like some opinions on whether we are set on doing the formatting similar to http://comp.tf/wiki/Cp_badlands (Badlands), or http://comp.tf/wiki/Koth_pro_viaduct_rc3 (Viaduct Pro) -- I remember someone posting about it earlier in response to my original idea.
I want to follow that up and hopefully have a consensus on these, so I can get to work on others maps, if possible.
Anything else we need to work on? I've got a few days with nothing to do -- and I want to help out this wiki as much as I can. :)
Yes as always, but you don't need to be mod to help out as you know. I am not adding anymore mods in the near future tho because we already have 9 people in our team and I think that's more than enough for now. But if you show enough quality work of course I will invite you to the team, regardless of the number of mods.
Maps need to be rethinked, I think we should base ourselves in something like this and this, we should definitly work on a template infobox for maps similar to that one for use on all map pages. If no one creates it meanwhile I will do it when I have time.
As for what we need work? Everything! :D Almost every single page and bit of content needs work, we are still in a very young phase. But a cool way to know what you can do is check the To do page
maximI guess now would be a good time to say I hope you're backing up everything (off-site!?!)
Didn't do it yet. But I will now! :)
Always have the host daily backups if needed
shadowtroopThe weapons are in a mess. There isn't enough room on a class page to include weapon info and playstyles. Stop putting anything but a list of weapons on class pages.
Weapon templates should really be standardized accross the entire wiki.
The current templates are not dynamic (not using variables) so they would be a pain in the ass to update each at a time, we need the same template for every class for all types of weapons.
I made a quick mock up in paint, please don't take it seriously, but it's a bit more compact then the ones in use and I feel it would make up more space for what we really need to talk about which is strategies and uses of that specific weapons in each format. Not sure what you think about it. http://i.imgur.com/IjPpzkZ.jpg
Also, I'm still not entirely sure weapons should be talked about in the main class page or only on the specific class page for each gamemode, what do you think? The problem here is that if we talk on the main page, visitors can see the difference in bans from one game mode to another where if we talk on the specific gamemode page it wouldn't have that much of a comparison purpose
turtsmcgurtsdoesn't matter if it's technically true, nobody cares about that. when you think of core competitive classes, it's medic soldier demo scout. heavy is support.
what shadow was trying to say was, we are not a 6v6 centered wiki, we are a competitive centered wiki, so we have to be impartial with that. The best solution here altogether wpuld be to remove the class roles in the main page and only include them in the specific gamemode pages to avoid further discussion
P-bodyAs for the first part, I don't think it would be very hard to do, but to avoid any problems, the icons need to be uploaded on-site, so that nothing weird happens. And uploading flags one by one (curse you MediaWiki!) will be a pain. Maybe you can get them in a separate folder on the server or something, without actually uploading them onto the wiki?
The second part is done.
http://comp.tf/wiki/Template:YouTube
http://comp.tf/wiki/Template:Steam (supports only unique IDs now, I doubt it'll be much of a problem. Also fetching Steam icons would probably require fiddling with the Steam API, as the avatar URLs don't seem to follow any particular template, as far as I'm aware)
http://comp.tf/wiki/Template:Twitch
I could definitely do that, let me just find a pack with properly named flags with standard icon size and I will upload directly through ftp, it should work
Those templates are sick btw, but any chance you could remove the text altogether and just leave the image linking to the profile? Or create new templates for Icon only without text. I think it would look more like in liquidpedia and certainly look much better when grouped in player profiles

Team infobox created
still couldn't get thumbnails to work
huhyKanecoI updated the player info template drought created.
You can start creating player pages easily now using the template in this page http://comp.tf/wiki/Template:Player_infobox
I really wanted to have an automated template that would add the country flagicons to each country, but I have no idea how to do it.
Same for links, for example add an automatic image to steam profile with the steam icon, youtube icon for youtube account, twitch, etc... If anyone can help me out let me know
Link doesn't work?
my bad, fixed

Please start cataloging pages under categories
To do that you just need to put the tag [[Category:Name]] at the start or end of each page
To create templates to use on pages use the Template:templatename (as the page title, so you have to create it with that name) and just create it like you normally would, then to include it in another page you just need to use {{templatename}}
droughtkawaiierr, is it just me or are the class weapon pictures not showing up :/it's a known issue with mediawiki, we're working on it
to be more specific, the wiki can't automatically downsize images
I will look into it later today, currently on lunch break so not much I can do.
boppetI originally thought this was a silly idea, but turns out it just might thrive and become special. Looks like a fantastic resource for newcomers outright. Terrific job kaneco. :]
Really thanks! Means a lot! But I couldn't have done it without the help of everyone editing the wiki, major props to them!
By the way, just to look at the huge work put into the wiki already, we went from this to this in 2 days, we are really a fantastic community!
PS: Don't forget to join our steamgroup, and if possible invite all your friends to it. It really supports and helps spread the site. Also thinking about future contests to promote the activity and quality articles on the wiki. (maybe even a 6v6 newbie tournament sponsored by us later on).
didn't have as much time as I wanted to update the wiki today, will make sure tomorrow I get something done.
Good work on the wiki guys, I have been checking the update logs periodically and there's great work being done! Will make sure to add some more people to the moderation team tomorrow.
Good night!
Edit: Would like to say just one thing, keep in mind this is a wiki related to the competitive scene, so there's no need (at least in my opinion) or no use to copy weapon descriptions from the official wiki directly, instead, explain how those weapons apply in competitive play and in which cases they could be helpful.
Tell me if I'm in the wrong here, but I think it should focus on competitive users rather than just explaining the weapon stats like the official wiki, or else it's of little use to our visitors as they are already familiar with the weapon probably just not how they can be used in competitive play.
