Posting this because ESEX is a pretty cool e-sports satire/humor site, has some pretty popular dota articles but I've never seen one about tf2 from them

If you're talking about Comanglia's cinema config I've never used it but I have compared it to Chris and Mine and it doesn't differ that much barring a few deprecated cvars and a few settings. The difference shouldn't be that big both graphical or performance wise.

But I definitely don't recommend using any of cinema/recording configs as an every day playing config, they do make the game beautiful but have a considerable impact on performance. If you want a good graphics and performance trade off for playing I would suggest using one of the dx9 high quality configs. I don't believe comanglia has a dx9 high quality version other than the cinema one. I use chris original dx9 high quality modified by me.

Well you can play fine with it, it will just have a heavy impact on performance if you decide to do so. Even the best high end pcs will shit themselves on a pub with people running around with unusual effects, skins, taunts with particles, etc.. Specially on ultra high settings.

Chris max quality is good, despite having a few outdated cvars it's still good for it's main purpose (which is recording not playing btw). you can also use my recording config posted here which is a modified and somewhat updated version of Chris Max quality.

It's recommended for recording purposes not playing tho.

I would have never predicted that tbh, it was just so all over the place, everything, tbh I didn't even know what to expect but these last 2 episodes really pushed it to the limit and surprised me.

the only thing I dont like is how they changed the default bball map to 2v2. 1v1 bball on mge is where i practiced most of my bball when I was starting out and it was a lot of fun because it was always full and u could always play someone straight away, with 2v2 at least in my experience the arena rarely fills,.

I wasn't starting a witch hunt or anything, I was genuinely upset that this has been happening to such a nice and hardworking community and felt compelled to ask for motives, even tho it was kinda like shouting at the sky.

But hey, I streamed our whole Nations cup game vs Russia today and averaged 70 viewers and not a single time we had lag problems, maybe the person behind some of this does have a conscience and rethinked his actions, maybe not. But I'm still happy I made this post.

They look great, I just think the +2 number should be purple or something and not the same color of the background. At least in all the huds I have used it was always purple and it was always really satisfying see the purple 2 pop out.

The problem is, it's realistically not possible to completely prevent ddos attacks. Whoever really wants to ddos something will be able to do it. No matter what. Sure, we have means of partially preventing it like you said, like protected servers, going offline, not sharing stv, not sharing skype info, etc... Even then it's still possible for people who have the know how, to still do it, and even ddos protected servers can only handle so much.

We shouldn't be afraid of casting matches or having bets on saloon just because it makes them easier to target, that would be giving in to these people, whatever heir motivation is. I'm just at a loss of words what is the motivation behind all this, we're not CSGO, we're not dota, we don't move millions of dollars nor thousands of viewers on a regular basis, we're just a small friendly community trying to have its place in the huge world of esports, and we definitely don't deserve this.

So you've probably tuned in to a couple of the nation cups games, you noticed it's not going as smooth as it should, the past 2 days alone, 3 of the 4 games scheduled were postponed due to ddos attacks.

The last game USA vs Israel today had the same issue despite not having bets on saloon, so bets are obviously not the problem. We had the same problem in Portugal vs France despite no cast, so casts aren't a problem (despite a casted game being much more prone to being targeted).

So why is this happening? I wonder... I'm really passionate about the tf2 community and the competitive side of it, I wonder what motivations a person has to ruin a whole night of work and enjoyment for so many other people. Maybe I'm in the wrong by creating this post and giving even more attention to whoever the poor soul is, maybe not. I just can't fathom the reasoning behind all this.

Serveme is offline due to ddoss attack, USA vs Israel was not played today, Ukrained vs France wasn't played yesterday, England vs Finland suffered the same fate, the GGG cup was completely overwhelmed with this problem. Is this what you want? TF2 is a small community, we average 500-1000 viewers compared to the big names in esports like csgo, dota, lol, etc. So whoever is doing this, if its for attention, I would say you're knocking on the wrong door.

So, even though I know I'll not get an answer to this question I feel compelled to ask, whoever is doing this. What is your motivation? Were you banned from etf2l and you're mad at the ac team? Did u lose a saloon bet and you're mad because you lost like $2 of hats? Do you simply hate people who do a service to the community like blackout tv or tftv? Do you lack attention or affection?

Sorry for the rant, it just bothers me someone would go to such lengths to ruin so many people days.

I just hope whoever is doing this can correct his ways. I don't believe we, one of the friendliest and kindest communities I have been part of, deserve to be targeted in such ways.
