#7 HELP! Tournament Formats in TF2 General Discussion

why 12 hours only? why not make it a whole weekend event?

It could still be made in 12 hours but it will be a really tight schedule for a double elim tourney I reckon

martenso no more saigns.de everytime i try quickplay? :D

all community servers were already disabled by default on the quickplay since 1 or 2 tf2 updates ago, the default servers for quickplay were all set to valve servers. Then a shitstorm ensued on the HLDS mailing list with a lot of community admins saying their server traffic dropped more than 50% since that update and a bunch other stuff, and this is valves official response to it.

#62 Source Recording Tool in Customization
LinAfter using this in csgo, I tried playing my games but I now get like 80~ fps when I used to get 120 constant. Do you know why this is?

Probably because it used a graphics config to record CS GO and you didn't have an auto exec and used default settings, so now the game assumed the values of the graphics config as your own.

#14 igmdb.org fragmovie/demorender site in TF2 General Discussion
MaverickMSGI think the biggest issue with the huds is that you'd have to have it configured on your own computer and know exactly what files to upload. I think a better solution would be to upload a bunch of preset huds (competitive, movie maker, etc) and allow the user to pick one they want to render with. Then we don't have to deal with any funky files being uploaded.

But that's exactly what I'm saying, have a few presets, but those presets should be some of the most common in tf2 moviemaking (ie moviemaking huds and configs), HUDAS was never really a standard hud for moviemaking afaik. Honestly I don't need to be uploading custom files, as long as you have the 3-4 movie huds (which are all basically the same with the only difference being different elements removed) and some ability to customize graphics configs you should be good to go.

MaverickMSGAs far as the UI goes, if you have any recommendations I'm all for hearing it. The layout for the movie page was essentially redone from scratch in the last few months. When you say "too small" you mean too narrow?

Yes, thats what I meant, I have a 1920x1080 resolution and it really feels too narrow on it. But the interface itself also seems a bit outdated or not very friendly, I can't really give any specific recommendations but I feel the site would benefit a lot from a different interface. It works for what its meant to do, but it could be much better. The front page doesn't really give a feel of the purpose of the site, the archive section could be easier to navigate and go through videos, etc. Take this as some constructive criticism, Im not trying to bring you down, its a really good project, but It can still improve a lot.

#102 TFTrue in Projects

Anakin you're the best :) I never had such a breeze running a server. Just buy one, install TFTrue, add 3-4 cvars to the config and you're set with a great server in no time. Logs.tf full support is just the cherry on top.

#12 igmdb.org fragmovie/demorender site in TF2 General Discussion
MaverickMSGKanecoThe logo and site "branding" are too similar to imdb, and I wouldn't want to mess with them.

The demo render looks awesome but I really think you should have more options or a way to costumize the end result (ie, change hud, etc...)

The branding and logos are really just placeholders right now. Someone came forward to create some logos for the site but they have disappeared since.

As for the custom render hud, that definitely is something we want to add on, however most huds are really complex. Right now the main focus is to fix any rendering issues that pop-up (a few were fixed a few minutes ago) and to finalize the site so that you aren't forced to log into the site to view anything. Releasing to the public is something we've been striving for for a long time.

Sounds reasonable.

As for the HUDs, Im not really a hud expert but I don't see how most are really complex, in fact I think Hudas is one of the few that really changes the main menu and a lot of stuff all together so if anything thats one of the most complex HUDs.

When you add that costumization support you might want to look into moviemaking huds (which are basically default huds with elements edited out, or with everything but the killfeed removed) and moviemaking configs. Some popular tools that use this huds/configs are lawena or Source Recording Tool.

Also, I don't really feel comfortable with the site UI, I think it's too small and not very user friendly. But the project does have a lot of potential. Keep up the good work.

#4 igmdb.org fragmovie/demorender site in TF2 General Discussion

My thoughts on this.

The whole idea behind the project is awesome and what the fps community has been in need for a long time. It's a long shot but a site of this kind with its own video streaming system could probably attract a lot of people and even investors (like twitch did)

#87 tf2mix in TF2 General Discussion

We don't have any of these restrictions on tf2pickup.net and the times that the abusing of offclass has happened we have dealt with it on a per case basis and we literally had 0 problems with it. The only rule remotely close is "No permanent offclassing", other than that everything goes, as it should.

Pickups are a practice environment , if you're not emulating everything that could happen on a normal 6s game then you're not practicing as good as you could be. Sure, running sniper on an official/scrim can be much harder and more rewarding, but running it in a pug still teaches you a lot of things, map awareness, focus calls, positioning, etc. If your team is not completely retarded there is 0 issues with it, and if you can't deal with it, it's your own fault. Dealing with snipers should be a basic issue, the sooner you deal with it the less your problems will be. Even a div6 team can do it.

Seems to me that if tf2mix caters to a newer audience what you are making is just alienating new players because of those silly restrictions instead of making them want to play.

#3 Ultiduo in TF2Center? in TF2 General Discussion

Btw, in case you're in Europe tf2pickup.net already supports HL, Ultiduo and Bball pickups! :)

Generally the skill level is higher than tf2center as well

#11 UGC-HL Platinum Week 1 Power Rankings and Predictions in News
clorgAll the top teams consist mostly of invite/main players. Highlander sure has changed a lot since last year

Strange, that is exactly the opposite of what happened in europe these past 2 seasons, prem HL teams were mostly made of div1-prem 6v6 players and these last 2 seasons pure HL teams have taken the reign over Highlander with many upcoming teams of mostly HL players climbing up the ranks in Prem.
