#1 Comp.tf 1st bball cup w/ NEW BBALL MAP in TF2 General Discussion

http://i.imgur.com/xL2ZdBA.png

Here's an awesome promo teaser made by my good friend ducky, 1440p fuck yeah

http://youtu.be/UAC8G4igOS8

Featuring a new custom bball map made by my good friend X_DIAS specially for comp.tf
Here's a screenshot, feel free to download the map and test it, feedback is appreciated as always.

We've been hard at work to deliver a new cup, and after a few weeks of planning here it is.
I really wanted to make something good and I discussed with a few friends the possibility of a new cup, I was considering a ultiduo cup but after the idea for a custom map came up, I knew I had to take advantage of it, I love bball, it's such a creative and fun game mode and I always felt there were no good maps for casting bball, this aims to be a more cast-friendly map, and I hope it gets used after the cup by other players/cups.

It's based entirely on ballin_sky with the only difference gameplay-wise being a slightly increased skybox.

  • All the details can be found here
  • The custom map can be found here

The cup is for European teams only, we debated the possibility of a dual tournament for both scenes or a NA cup first, but I didn't want to make the same mistakes as I did in the newbie cup and I wanted it to be a little less stressing as well so I opted to run a EU cup first and if all goes well we'll run a NA cup later on.

Buy-in is 1 key per team, goes entirely to the prizepool.

We want to stream and cast the later stages of this (semis or quarter-finals onwards), I already got ducky onboard on camera, still looking for casters.

atmoReally enjoying this silent-movie interview style on dreamhackCS

:( so sad

I really think these huge production mistakes are hurting the development of esports as a legit form of entertainment. And in an event of this dimension even worse

#10 how do i even snipe in Q/A Help

Make sure you have good practice. YOu can practice a lot in wrong / less efficient ways, but if you focus exactly on the points you want to improve it will become much more efficient practice and you will notice a faster improvement.

Regarding sniper I found DM to be really effective but also sniper servers, not orange but servers where only sniper is allowed, you will get a lot of experience dodging other snipers as well as countersniping even if they're all newbies chances are you will have 3-4 guys pointing at you all the time and I found it really good practice to play on those servers

ApolloftwKaneconot very familiar with dh schedule, and by the sign of things the DOta finals are already live? is this normal the dota finals on the first day of the lan?Its only the upper bracket semi-finals today for Dota 2.
Also here is the schedule for DreamHack Winter 2013
http://www.dreamhack.se/dhw13/esport/esport-schedule/

Thanks, dreamhack site is really horrible and I can't seem to find the current standing for any game other than on the streams and even then it's only for a brief moment.

I have been watching cs go closely, I dont really follow the scene and I only started to play the game very recently but it has been a blast, great games all around, this last match astana dragons vs reason was really good

Edit: Found a site with the standings for all the tourneys

shocka1visitnigWhy do you have a need to attack people for no apparent reason?
Kaneco disagreed with me 1st and Kuza jumped in to imply I (or anyone else) is stupid for not using antivirus. Who attacked who?

I disagreed with you because as kuza said simply put is bad advice.

Malware today comes in all forms and flavors, heck there are masked image files with malware, even .pdf files can have malware injected in them. Recommending no use of anti virus/anti malware is bad advice.

We're also not talking about malware that will mess up your pc or delete some files, there's way more advanced malware which the only purpose as kuza said its to steal personal and bank information live and then it self destructs never to be found again.

I congratulate you that you have never found a single infected file on your unprotected pcs in 4 years (which I doubt), but you will remember the stupidity of your statements if what I meantioned above does happen to you (which I seriously hope it doesn't).

MR_SLINso what's a good lightweight recommendation for antivirus then? I currently only use MSE and malware and spybot S&D

tbh I would just do a quick read of the monthly/yearly reports on http://www.av-comparatives.org/ and pick one of the best performing there.

Kaspersky and ESET consistently obtain top scores in almost all categories so I guess those are the ones I would recommend.

ESET performance test shows its just a tiny bit more resource heavy than MSE so I don't really think it makes a difference.

Personally I dont care for it being much lightweight because I have plenty of resources and prefer it to be a solid software, some say ESET is a bit resource heavy, I have used it on multiple computers and never noticed anything particular. MSE is great already in the sense it is very lightweight and kinda does the job, coupled with spybot and malwarebytes I dont think you have a bad combo at all.

#36 CEVO Community Meeting in TF2 General Discussion

Honestly if this doesn't turn the community support even more towards cevo I dont know what will...

The representatives of a league that has 7 active teams of tf2 in the current season took their time to answer most of the community and allowed their voices to be heard.

These guys truly care about esports, even if they dont specifically care about tf2, you can see they are very dedicated to providing a good service for everyone across all games. And the b2b projects they worked on got me even more convinced, it would be a bad mistake to ditch a league that has strong connections with events like those.

THat being said, having no current lan plans is kind of a bummer but I bet if there's enough support it will happen. It's not the most critical aspect right now IMO.
