Sorry, but if you're using adblock or disabling javascript for certain sites then you are already applying some protection measures or using some kind of protection on your computer, that whole post is a contradiction within itself

You could even theoretically click nothing suspicious, all it takes is for a legit trusted site you visit having a javascript exploit or an ad which is exploited and you're infected. And you don't really notice malware injection as it's happening if you don't have any kind of protection against it, it might not even appear in later scans depending on the malware behaviour.

Bottom line, it's impossible to keep a computer fully secured when connected to and using the internet regularly, especially without any kind of protection.

shocka1You don't need antivirus if you are careful with what you do on your pc. Just like you don't need a condom if you are careful with what you do with your penis. Just make sure you browse clean websites and don't open filthy attachments. Just like you make sure to have sex with clean women and don't open their filthy attachments...

I dont necessarily agree with this because there are still plenty of ways to get infected even not visiting "bad" sites directly or downloading cracked stuff etc...

Every site and software you use is exploitable, to the point where even if you dont necessarily visit harmful websites you can still get infected or have your computer broken because of some nasty malware.

Its better to be safe than sorry and an antivirus + antispyware nowadays is not very resource consuming unless you have a low specs pc.

Sites you probably deem "secure" have loads of 3rd party content etc, etc. You're never safe on the internet

Foxyeah i use smart security too, but i just built a new desktop and was using mse just because i was only using the computer for games

for some reason a lot of people think just installing mse is efficient enough to keep their computers clean

the only shitty thing about paying for legit antivirus software is the fact that licenses eventually expire lol

MSE is ok but you always need a combo to be effective, if you have a antivirus only get a anti spyware/malware like spybot or the free version of malware bytes...

Of the ones I use I only paid for malwarebytes which is a lifetime license, so Im set.

Too bad its not ESET Smart Security :(

Been using the ESET Smart Security + Spybot S&D + Malware Bytes combo for a few years and it's the best protection ever.

thrasherAVG $0

AVG has been one of the worst AVs in recent years, its not what it used to be, also those 0$ transform into hundreds in damages in case you get some worse malware.

#45 Can someone summarize the drama? in TF2 General Discussion
kaidusdeadmau5why do people say without lan theres no reason/incentive to get better at the game, ETF2L doesnt have a lan at the end of each season afaik and they still kicked mix^/hrg's asses
That was the result of being thoroughly humiliated the year before. Having no seasonal LAN gets you roughly to i46.

It's more a case of Epsilon actually becoming a better team (with a vastly improved roster) and actually being able to be called a superteam, unlike epsilon @i46 which was a team with plenty fragilities.

Take a look at epsilon roster through the time here and now tell me how is not the i49 roster a upgrade in every single aspect compared to the i46 roster. Besides epsilon was nowhere near as dominant at the time of i46, they had lost a season to infused just 1 season before that and it was only after Mike and Numlocked move to Epsilon after i46 that epsilon cemented themselves as the european superteam they are currently. Not to mention that epsilon played i46 with a rusty demo and scout.

Mixup at i46 was a truly north american super team, I would not consider Epsilon a european super team at the time of i46, and so saying we only won i49 because we got wrecked at i46 is kind of a false truth since the teams were not on the same level to begin with, and also because what happened is that the team simply got better not because they practiced extra hard, but because they made roster changes that allowed them to improve the team in every single aspect

DikkerRickand the idea of the tf2 community hosting their own lan is a joke, sorry
hahahah
We did 3 lans in russia (february, may, november) in 1 year by own hands
this is possible dude
and they were awesome

WOuld also like to add that the portuguese community hosts 3 lans a year (march, summer, dezember). While the size is not near as comparable as a russian lan or NA lan it shows how community organized events can be created and successful.

We host it in a hotel lobby as well, with capacity capped at 50 people and every lan the spots are all taken within 1 week after its announced and there are usually well over 20 people in waiting list

The idea that the tf2 community is not capable of hosting or creating their own events is bullshit.

I love tf2 fragmovies of any kind, altough I don't have a set favorite Cla movies were the ones that really made me passionate about the game, so I like them a lot, as well as the old Torn movies.

I have a playlist on youtube of the best fragmovies I have come accross, it's a lot, almost 150 fragmovies and counting, hope you find some entertainment in it.

#13 Do comprehensive competitive/class guides exist? in Q/A Help
foreverKanecohttp://comp.tf/
That's a really good place to start, thank you. Would be cool if it gave a lot of situation based examples of some of the concepts.

It's a community project so it's only as much as what people are willing to contribute :)

Feel free to add a few more info / guides if you wish. Some classes already have very comprehensive pages on strategies and all that jazz, and some even have examples of rollouts and a compendium of all other external guides

#19 Why you should turn off adblock in Off Topic
SnowyExplain to me exactly how to disable adblock JUST for tf.tv and I will do so this instant.

The last time I tried it ended in disaster and I haven't repeated the attempt.

For firefox:

That means "Disable in tf.tv"

You need to do this at least once for each site you want to disable it then it will remember that setting. I would recommend disabling it in all the sites you trust and regularly visit, it helps supporting the sites.

Also squid, that skyride post you used as base of your argument in the first post is from a person totally out of touch with the scene and probably still bitter with it. The ETF2L admin team has some of the most helpful, competent and genuinely interested group of people I have had the pleasure to deal with.
