if you can watch it all you're a stronger person than i am
Gonna take a moment here and remind myself that people like this exist in this world. I still can't cope with it.
Also, how is a 15y old furry admin on twitch.tv?
is this real? this is too much for me to handle, so much weird stuff happening and we're still midweek, whats next, /r/pcmasterrace/ gets banned? oh, wait...
I played LoL for the first time in 2009 when it was starting, had a terrible experience with the community and just never touched it again, tried it again in 2012 and I can honestly say it's the worst gaming community I have ever encountered in an online game, surpasses COD by miles.
I haven't touched dota much but honestly my experience was much better there
CEVO is a great option and maybe easily doable, phipher mentioned bigger prize and more divisions if there were more teams, but I feel we would benefit more in the long run from a community run league and not a business. And for that we have 3 options.
UGC, a apparently well-run league, very popular amongst the HL playerbase
ETF2L, established for years as the main european league, it works very well I would say, admins are very active, actually you can just go on IRC and query and admin and I guarantee you that 90% of the time you'll get a response and see your issue solved in 5-10 mins, the support is near perfect.
And we got a possible new community run league, which honestly looks like a long shot to take, because it would just be a massive amount of work to start a league from the ground up, well if a community run tf.tv league was to emerge it would be a good option Im sure, but it seems very unlikely this 3rd option is ever gonna happen.
Personally,I don't think UGC's structure is the ideal for this. Also I honestly am not feeling the site at all, it's such a horrible experience ever since I started using it from the first time. And Tf.tv or another new community league is highly unlikely so IMO those options would be out for me.
That brings it to CEVO or ETF2L, as I said before both look like a great option but I think we would benefit more from a community run league than a business that might try and screw us over in the long run. Also, if we have a new etf2l with a NA division that would almost make it a worldwide community run league, it might just finally get valve attention. So I am inclined to go with ETF2L here, not just because I already play there, but I think it's run by people who are genuinely interested in our scene and have more than once shown their good will towards us. This brings me to another topic which is the etf2l site which I feel it's not good either, not terrible like UGC's but definitely very outdated, if we could get some fresh coders and talent on board we might make it one of the best leagues ever.
Saint_personally i dont see what all the bitching is about. Servers are better than they were last season by a long shot, there are more servers than last season for matches. Valve updates tf2, and esea takes forever to update their servers? ok anyone realize that it takes a few minutes for their own server to update, let alone how many that ESEA has that have to update? On top of that they have a fully automatic system that allows us to schedule matches etc. Quick fix bad: everyone bitches about it during LAN, it gets banned afterwards, then everyone bitches about it being banned without "asking the community?" Yes we did start late with a really rocky start to the season, but it seems to have gone pretty smoothly since. if anyone can actually tell me why ESEA is shit WHILE realizing what they actually provide for us, go for it
Have you actually read the last few threads on this forum?

All that you talked about is just a fraction of the issues, these news were the last straw
alfunksoI agree with owl, I'm fine with ETF2L whitelist and ruleset overall but I don't think a low div teams could handle 2 maps a week and have fun with it. It's hard to figure out your role in a map when you're a new player imo.
I started etf2l in div6, since I can remember we always played 2 maps a week, I am now on my way (almost) to div3 and got promoted every season except 1 season ago. Learning 2 maps a week was nothing major to deal with IMO.
alfunksoOther than that, if there are no league fees and no prizes, I guess CEVO would be a better option right now, since they have no fees and prizes, and they also already have the servers and the interest.
CEVO is a very plausible solution for you guys as well and phipher looked like a guy genuinely interested in the scene, thats why I think there should be some kind of community debate on the situation.
DA_KIDI'm personally in favor of this solution, but everyone needs to agree. we need to have a poll or something about this and get the support of some good players to the new solution. If the Mix^s and iTs are there, everyone else will follow.
Exactly we can't just decide by ourselves, it would have to be a big community decision or at least have the major teams and players on board.
PythooonI think it's time to remove the E from ETF2L

Have to admit that does look badass. And maybe an entirely community run league could finally get valve attention?
Mr_Owlso a scrim for you is about an hour, then? how many scrims do lower div teams play per night/how many nights per week? At this point i'm more just interested in the workings of the lower div teams. My team is probably more dedicated than 95% of open teams and I still think we'd struggle with two maps per week. How much time in a particular week would you say that you spend on each map? Between scrims, demo review, etc?
A scrim can be one map or 2 maps depends on your schedule, for example one of my old teams did 2 pcws usually, 2 maps each, that is 4 maps/30 minutes each +/- which would be 2 hours, but sometimes people dont have time and you just play 1 map twice and another one once only. It is entirely dependent on the situation we dont have fixed rules for scrims, but I have to admit our ruleset looks much less confusing when it comes to scrims compared to yours, 30 mins timelimit is much more straightforward when scheduling whatever it is, whether it is scrims or officials.
About the maps, I have already talked about, we scrim both weekmaps usually and its no issue for us but its also common for teams who think they are well prepared for one of the maps to only scrim the map they are less prepared for. About demo reviews and whatnot can't really talk about that because unfortunately I was never on a team that had a habit of doing those.

this guy is a proper retard
While I fully support the idea of making a NA etf2l and possibly making etf2l a world league I think it would be better to discuss all the solutions available to us. From CEVO, to ugc, etf2l, igl, or even a tf.tv league or a new community league there are plenty options available and it wouldn't be very smart to split such a small community much.
we might be witnessing a new age of competitive tf2, I really hope by the end of this season we can leave ESEA behind with no remorses. whatever grows from here will surely be more beneficial in the long run, even if that means we will have to go through some dark ages.
I am from EU else I would join you, love me some bball
Dell_ConagherI know nothing of these things, but why do I have a feeling something bad is happening?
http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/
It's all a rollercoaster from here until some stable bitcoin marketplace (not necesarily drug related) takes the market. You just have to be lucky to get in at the right time and leave while its high
If theres anything I hate more than shitty mods is furries.
PermzillaETF2L has been hosting teams from across the world (including NA teams) and South America also. Currently they're just placed in divs with teams from similar regions/timezones if possible. I don't see how making a league is much different from that.
Also for a European League where the best nation at highlander is...the United States.
Anyway, an NA Division at ETF2L is easy to do if we get the interest and talk some things through internally. We would need a group of volunteers to admin the NA side of things, but this is all subject to debate once we can confirm interest.
YES PLEASE! Make etf2l a world league, it would be a win-win situation, more exposure for etf2l + sponsors and prizes + global league, etc etc...
IARENOBODYIf anyone is interested in making a new league, I'm down to help with graphics and website design.
Maybe if NA ETF2L really does happen we can at last have the well deserved etf2l website redesign? now that would be glorious
I stll think teams should go to this lan, otherwise as smakers said it would only cause ESEA to pocket the money, but after that people should definitely step back from the league and take a stance about this. ETF2L, CEVO, IGL or whatever is the solution but please, behaving like a victim of domestic abuse just because "we can't find anything better" is ridiculous.
being up at 4 am was definitely worth it, youmustmeatball with a huge airshot on powah
Also the casters are doing a great job. I never heard them before but they're doing pretty good
I feel sorry for you 2c, that's like a 400$ increase in 1,5 months
