if valve balanced on pub usage rates then youd see more nerfs to things like sniper, soldier, and engie, as well as buffs to demo or heavy
if valve is balancing solely for pubs then they certainly arent doing a good job of it.
RR cant heal or grab a stunned sentry. Wrench can i think. If youre sitting over at the spawn door getting ready to heal your sentry then it can get stunned and focused down easy.
over time its probably something everyone will get the hang of judging.
they should just do a tutorial contest and have some random community member make one in exchange for a hat
campercan't we just get valve to host a major with no whitelist and no class restrictions but have all the invite teams agree to run our current team class restrictions? inb4 crowns take advantage of the rules and run 4 scouts lul
but on a serious note i don't think valve is ready to pour money into this game, it would solve all our problems if they did so but i don't think they'll directly profit from it
A high profile tournament with everyone abusing the shit out of unlocks and class stacking would probably do more towards bringing attention to what needs to be balanced than anything else tbh.
But then again this is valve so maybe thats too optimistic
a shorter shotclock would be generally good just because the concept of being forced to push or lose mid via a draw is something that already exists. So all it would do is force teams to settle for less significant advantages.
Another possibility could be lowering the time that gets added upon capping a point, but not lowering the max round timer. Since then stalling is an option if points have changed hands frequently but less so if the game had been slow recently. And also limits the viability of giving up ground just to stall the clock more.
if they do another gunmettle like event, including a few skins that associate with notable teams could be sweet
the incentive is generally that the losing team needs to play riskier because theyre losing and time is points
though itd be nice if there more incentive to not let games go into tiebreaker rounds because the concept just goes out the window there
HereComesTheBoomAladinPontIf only they actually meant it lolValveThe best community in gaming history.

does it matter if they mean it at this point? They put the damn post on their website like people wanted!!!
I hope they keep doing thing to support comp, but at this point be grateful that they actually did anything
theyve made a blog post for insomnia every year since like i46
do pub engies even think that? Engie stackings one of the strongest things ever in pubs. They have the innate repair/building of friendly stuff and spots with a resupply means they dont always have to ration ammo.
like i have a hard time believing that anyone who regularly plays payload, 5cp, ctf, or a/d hasnt once experienced a team running 3+ engies and just stalling out the whole game.
i feel like theres a lot of "engie is UP" sentiment on places like r/tf2 just because hes weak in highlander and very situationally good in 6s. But i think if you asked a random dude in-game theyd probably say engie is all but necessary on defense.
for real though less piss easy combo bullshit and more aimy stuff. If pyro had a halfway decent skill curve then they could actually buff him without worrying about him destroying pubs or being an annoying plague.

casual tf2 community has always jerked off the fluff. the tf2 blog once promoted some dudes fantasy dog class. got more hype than any competitive shit I've seen.
