well, i know sennheiser has a couple of sick in-earphones, but they do cost that bit more.
HifiMan is a Chinese brand and they thwart fakes by only selling their products through "authorized dealers". Xiaomi seems interested in cutting costs wherever possible, including in their supply chain.

In all honesty, I think you're going to have a hard time finding a replacement. Ever since smartphones have become the swiss army knife in everyone's pocket, the standalone PMP market is all but dead outside of dedicated audiophile devices (Pono and HifiMan's players for example), and those are much less versatile than the Galaxy Player.
cage-anyone play far cry 3 coop? how was it?
Played a lot of it with some friends. It was pretty fun for a bit, but the missions are really linear and predictable (think L4D). I don't understand why they put tiny linear co-op missions as the only multiplayer feature in a sandbox game, but whatever.
Local co-op: Rayman Origins, Trine 1/2, Spelunky, Crypt of the NecroDancer
Remote co-op: Divinity: Original Sin, Orcs must die 2
1) Nobody knows if Sony was in fact hacked by North Korea
2) The U.S. has no reason to "retaliate" by DDoSing NK as retribution for hacking a US subsidiary of a Japanese company
3) Xbox Live/PS+ were brought down by a group of 3000 entitled, bored, frustrated kids who didn't get what they wanted for Christmas (Lizard Squad). Kim Dotcom paid them off with Mega vouchers to get them to stop, rofl.

Phones: HifiMan HE-500 - $599
DAC: Schiit Modi - $99
AMP: Schiit Magni - $99
Definitely the best sound you can get for the price. Logical vertical increments would be the HifiMan HE-560 ($899) or Audeze LCD-2 ($800). Do NOT waste your money on bigger and badder amps, DACs, or cables unless you like throwing tons of money at marginal improvements. An extra $300 goes so much further in improving quality by buying better headphones than anything else you could do.
No way it's going to live up to the hype at this point; I'm frankly just glad its finally out so everybody can stop talking about it.
