#15 sigafoo tf2 league in TF2 General Discussion
ShooshCouldnt be arsed watching the video, is he doing 7v7 again?websiteThe game is 7 on 7 with a classlimit of 1

Prior to each game teams go through the pick/ban process. This can happen the day of the match or any time before. Teams can also agree to use the default whitelist for the league. Whatever the decision is, just make sure it’s listed in the Match Comms.

sm fucking h sigafoo

its literally the sigafoo cup in league format. why is he doing this? who gave him positive feedback?

#28 Stop being cancer to new players people in TF2 General Discussion
nykTbh idk why all these people complain about our community being 'elitest' or whatever, neither me nor a single friend I've spoken to experienced much toxicity when they came up into leagues and stuff back in 2015 (but a fair amount after that voncerning other things), so unless things changed drastically in one year, maybe it's just your attitude or you're just talking to the wrong people?

maybe you just got lucky. or maybe the problem lies in the fact that you're talking about leagues. ive tried to introduce friends into competitive twice. its hard to get people into teams from the get go. Lots of people dont want to play on teams at all, and with pure pub experience people get shit on hard in lobbies.

lobbies, or something like them, are what the vast majority of potential players want out of a competitive game. its why valve's cheater infested joke of a competitive system with its garbage ruleset has been so detrimental. its why people complain about toxicity so much; the people trying to play faceit and tf2c all day get terrible experiences every other game. seriously, faceit has its share of russian trolls, but people who come try to make an honest effort out of their pub experience get told to leave and not come back. on fucking faceit. people dont want to commit to anything in a video game, they just want to be able to occasionally play a serious game whenever they feel like it, and that's nearly impossible to do in tf2 without spending at least one season on a team.

there's no effective solution to this besides "get enough new players to let them play each other constantly," so good luck with that
sagebest thing to do when he makes a mistake is be cool tell him what he did wrong, not scream at him

lmao no shit, but you can be as chill as you want, there will always be someone else being a shit

Can't say I disagree, but there's no word wall big enough to keep people from doing it. If they cared about what you thought, they wouldn't be toxic in the first place. All you can do is avoid being toxic as best you can.

Besides, honestly, I can't help but wonder if the toxicity in pugs isn't a good thing; it pushes people towards actual teams where they can reliably play with people they like.

#32 May Global Whitelist Changes in TF2 General Discussion
oblaThe opinions gathered from polls and messages posted on the all forums are all vital to the Global Whitelist.

I don't really have strong opinions about what should or shouldn't be allowed, but the above appears false. Maybe I'm missing something, but the only worthy survey (aka not done on strawpoll) that I saw was this one, and for the most part those results appear to have been ignored. The Vaccinator didn't make it onto any of the "please ban" lists (though it did come close), while other weapons that were universally panned are staying unbanned. Seriously, Natashca, Machina, and the Loch?

Again, I don't really have a horse in this race. As long as completely broken shit is banned I'm happy, and I'll stay happy with every unlock ban until the game itself is on the list. Just don't talk about how important polls and shit are to you if they didn't actually have any influence.

unfortunately news outlets are now using populism as a synonym for racism and bigotry, making the assumption that these are the concerns of the common man.

not that i really like the anti-immigration wave of opinion, but it feels like the term populism has lost its meaning.

sopsArabs are not white.

at least according to wikipedia, "Today, the main unifying characteristic among Arabs is Arabic."

So if I'm reading that right, if you were caucasian but grew up in Egypt reading and writing Arabic as your first language, you would be considered an Arab.

Further down the article says "Although all Arab states have Arabic as an official language, there are many non-Arabic-speaking populations native to the Arab world. Among these are Berbers, Toubou, Nubians, Jews, Kurds, Armenians."

So it seems like being an Arab has to do with your native language, not necessarily your skin color or heritage.

#7 Key combos in Q/A Help

lol, that is exactly what I tried to do with Corsair's macro software but it introduced a ton of input lag.

The logic seems sound, but for some reason it doesn't work in practice. When I start the game A is still on +moveleft, while D is bound to +back.

#5 Key combos in Q/A Help

Too bad. I was kinda hoping for a solution within TF2, as it doesn't look like Corsair's macro software supports key combos.

lol not at all fam, the entire episode built up to it. i'll just grateful if they didn't really drag it out over more than one episode.

honestly as long as Ashi actually stays useful and doesnt just devolve into "love interest," i'll be happy
ThorEatsWormsGotta admit, not sure if I liked the romantic comedy. I dunno it was alright.

#1 Key combos in Q/A Help

Is there a way to bind key combinations to a single action? Specifically, I'd like to move backwards when hitting a + d together.

if we're strictly talking about the game's exposure there is no question the biggest thing that has affected it has been overwatch..

I wrote a bunch of words about OW actually increasing TF2's exposure and then realized I might be preaching to the choir. Now I don't wanna erase it. So, uh... if you did actually mean that OW has reduced TF2's exposure, please read, I guess.

If we're strictly talking about "number of people who know competitive TF2 exists," I can't help but wonder if Overwatch might have increased that number. No doubt, high level players leaving TF2 have hurt the top level, but it's hard to say how much longer those people would have continued playing regardless of another FPS coming out. At some point in TF2, you either have to quit and make a living, or resign yourself to playing at a level much lower than you know you're capable of. I imagine that most of the players leaving for Overwatch did so for the opportunity of making a living playing a game they found fun without needing to break into an established scene; not necessarily because they thought Overwatch was a better game. And it's no secret that a huge number of top level OW players used to play TF2--honestly a stunning number considering how small this scene has always been. How many people following the OW scene would never have known about comp TF2 if not for the placement of those players? Sure, in the months leading up to OW's release the memes comparing the two games were rampant--but very few of those had anything to do with the competitive scenes of either game. It's still easy to doubt that anyone learning about comp TF2 through OW would ever make the leap to start playing it, but in terms of pure exposure, OW has probably helped the TF2 scene along.

Not to mention that Valve's decision to push TF2 MM coincided very oddly with OW. If you feel like extrapolating from there, you could argue that every player who learned about comp TF2 from Valve was actually exposed by OW.
