#15 Fantasy TF2 Proposal in Projects

The website isn't the reason it failed. It requires constant inputting of logs from official games, and updating prices etc to keep it relevant. Creating the website is a tiny amount of the effort required to run this system if I understood Jon correctly, and wouldn't be enough to create an alternative.

In the end Jon decided it was too much work for the small amount of attention it received iirc.

#57 Gamers Assembly LAN confirmed, signups open in News
TurboTabsAlright, ALL RIGHT, who seriously wants to be part of the Gamers Assembly coach roadtrip, from birmingham, stopping off at paris airport then going to Poitiers, our rough price estimates is £100 per person, March 25th is our rough time we'll make the trip, then same route back on roughly 28th to go back home

Please leave a message if you're interested in a coach ride with a bunch of tf2 nerds, plus any additional information

Crossposting onto this thread for everyone who mentioned they were interested. NOW is the time for sorting out teams/travel/accommodation!

If you want a lift from the UK, or picking up in Paris, post here!

TF2: a brit beating his one funny remark into the ground

Serious esports b o y s

Serious esports is an oxymoron, let's not pretend we're a professional game with careers in this when we're not. If anything that's even more cringeworthy, desperately pretending to be deadly serious about competitive TF2 like the little kid at the esports table.

We're all here because we like competitive TF2, not because we crave serious high-stakes competition with professional-level coverage. TF2 is, at its basis, a game built on entertainment factor both through humour and potential for cool plays. Trying to artificially force "professionalism" into this game is not going to draw people in if it's at the cost of the entertainment. Whether or not you find the funny remark entertaining is another matter.

Turbotabs doesn't realise that "scrippled" isn't a word though. I really hope he says that out loud as well and has been wondering for years why people look at him funny.

#103 Saloon.tf V2.0 in News

Full Tilt vs Infused is actually on Sunday, moved it!

EDIT: And your description of the handicap for Foreskings doesn't make sense in ETF2L - if they lose by more than one round it has no effect, it's due to the points. Hey kkaltuu maybe you guys over at etf2l could scrap this weird points system you have for GCs ye?! ty xoxo

#10 Scout vs Soldier jumping in TF2 General Discussion

Just watch some demos of scouts at the top level. There have been historically scouts with great movement but if you want something recent you can watch Reason's scouts, Froyo's or Ascent's. Probably the best 3 sets of scout pairs in the game atm and they all have good movement.

#2 Scout vs Soldier jumping in TF2 General Discussion

Top level scouts tend to do large single jumps until they bait a rocket, then double jump whilst strafing to a safer area. They use the first single jump to go from a high ground towards the soldier (to increase damage) and then back off with the second or jump again whilst shooting. The important components are taking height and baiting rockets, you'll find the most effective way of moving if you keep those two in mind.

In addition when there is no height you can often abuse the fact that soldiers take a lot of self damage (60+) and will be expecting you to dodge rather than pasta-brain straight into you. Often faking a dodge and then bum-rushing a soldier will net you the frag though you'll take damage. Of course for this you have to have good aim though, whereas the method of trying to dodge from a medium range works better with worse aim.

#24 ESEA S21 W1: Ascent vs. Team SoloUber in Matches

Really cool that you have all the stats but the prediction side of it seems to be guff to advertise the prior fact.

There's a lot of irrelevant shit and doesn't factor in head-to-head matchups etc. I'd be very interested if you thought you could put these stats into an algorithm to generate the percentage change of a win for each team. And if you thought you could predict harder matchups than this one which is fairly straight-forward as predictions go.
