#23 i52 feedback in LAN Discussion

The more clutter you add, the less the game actually feels like an FPS. I winced when the first thing Lange mentioned as an improvement on-stream, between the casters having their own camera and the gigantic hud, was "we need to add health bars and floating names."

ZakaNo one can take anything in jest it seems. The language he uses and comments he makes. Even if he thinks iM will win you have to be a total moron to be offended by what he has said.

excuse me sideshow is the pinnacle of hard hitting unbiased journalism and i won't have you slander him that way

It looks super professional and there wasn't a boring moment for the entire thing. Really great, it was worth the wait.

you know our community is lacking good editors when some of the most mediocre editors ever find a chance to wave their dicks around in the comments

i talk about over-editing a lot, but when it's a short video like that obviously has direction behind it i don't mind it that much. it was pretty nice, even if it was a trip.

#60 New Unreal Tournament in Other Games

If this Fatal1ty clip is with the newest build then it's still too slow. UT99 (in 95% of servers) had people move at a base 1056 movespeed. UT4 started out with people going at 900 movespeed, which isn't just slower - it's A LOT slower. The majority of their forum feedback has been asking for the game to be faster, and just last week they increased the move speed to 960. If this is what 960 looks like, it's still too slow.

Since UT3 isn't worth mentioning, I'll just kind of outline the differences between UT2K4 and UT99. UT99 had the fastest base move speed, but the movement was really simplistic. You could double tap a direction to dodge, but it was used for just that, to dodge occasionally. UT2K4 had a slower base move speed than UT99, but to make up for it they had new movement mechanics. Wall jumps, double jumps, and dodge jumps. You could compare dodge jumps to a longer circle strafe jumps from Quake, and it was pretty much the fastest way to get around. Because the movement mechanics in these games are really different, most UT veterans are separated between favoring UT2K4 or UT99 - with the majority (based on server population now) liking UT99.

UT4 has lowered the base move speed AND removed double jumping and dodge jumping from the game, effectively slowing down the game by a lot. Both groups are asking for changes. The devs themselves are saying they want to be cautious with making the game too fast. I still have faith (idk why) since the devs are actively looking at feedback and tentatively accepting that their fanbase wants changes, but I don't know if they're going to actually listen or try to compromise.

SORRY FOR NERD ESSAY UT99 WAS MY FIRST FPS I LOVED THAT GAME

Really solid for being a first full length attempt. I enjoyed it.

As for criticisms, the most obvious one would be the in-game audio coming in really suddenly at the beginning. There were a few other times where it felt the in-game audio wasn't at a consistent volume and would feel a bit too loud. The scene at ~1 min looked really awkward as well.

It was nice overall though, if you keep at it you'll be amazing.
