#47 Campus employee assaults white student in The Dumpster

It's a shame that so many people in the social justice movement are caught up in non-problems like this and not using their often underestimated influence to combat real, tangible issues. Pretty much every university and even many high schools have feminist/social justice clubs that could focus on issues such as homophobia and sexism (against both men and women) or even issues like police brutality, but instead the attention goes towards people who mean no harm. The problem with these "I'm a good person" clubs is that they tend to attract people that care more about appearing like they're a better person more than they care about doing whats actually right. This is what leads to people going for the easy targets like this guy instead of actually making a difference. It's much easier to falsely paint someone else with bad intentions and step on them to get to the moral high ground than it is to rise above what's truly wrong.

#21 My band recorded an EP :> in Off Topic

Thank you so much for all of your feedback and support! I showed the thread to my bandmates and they really appreciated what you guys had to say.

patysTop notch stuff, I immediately send the link to my friend, who is into emo/screamo too. I hope you will manage to organise yourself some gigs and go on a small tour around the country, as I have done a couple of 3-5days ones with my band and it was one of the best experiences in my life :) We're doing more sludgy stuff tho.

[edit] my comment was seen as hijacking, but really, people who are into DIY emo/hardcore stuff simply LOVE exchanging experiences, each other's bands etc. People who are on tftv apparently not :d

Dude post your stuff! I'd love to hear it. We plan on doing some shows actually once our setlist gets a little longer.

fishy-linluv!!!

who did the cover art?

One of my bandmates has a friend who did it for us. I know absolutely nothing about her so I don't know if she would appreciate me posting her name here.

eeereal talk tho u kind've have to look at it as like an abrasive instrument rather than just a set of lyrics and it creates a different picture imo. Like on this album the production and tuning are all rather upbeat and happyish, while the vocals create a sort of foil that plays against it. It makes it more interesting imo but I can see where people who prefer more unified or cohesive soundscapes would be put off

That was some really good feedback. For the most part the instrumentals are just a bunch of random progressions and riffs we smashed together so we could call it a song which I think played a big part in creating a disconnect between the lyrics and the music. We're definitely gonna keep what you said about having a cohesive soundscape in mind.

#1 My band recorded an EP :> in Off Topic

Hey friends, my bandmates and I recorded an EP a little while ago and I thought that if I'm gonna spam my songs about moms on here it would be pretty disrespectful not to do the same for some music that Is not a complete joke.

I've had a lot of fun playing guitar with these guys and it would mean a lot to me if you would give our songs a listen. Playing in a band has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid so I'm feeling really happy right now. I know yelly screamy music isn't exactly everyones cup of tea but I think that if you're into any sort of hardcore/punk/screamo/skramz/post-whatever or straight to tv Lifetime channel movies you may enjoy it :)

#27 cultural appropriation in Off Topic
Turincalls something racist

>> native American headdress

which culture bro? the aztecs? the seminole? the aleut?

I never said it was racist and tbh i dont know shit about the differences between native american groups. I was just trying to say that for the most part cultural appropriation is no big deal but there are times when it's somewhat understandable for a group of people to get upset. There is a huge difference between eating swanky Asian fusion food and wearing a headdress that is supposed to only be worn by people who have earned it. I dont think it's okay for anybody to be completely outraged over any form of cultural appropriation, but that doesnt mean its wrong for people to want the truly meaningful parts of their culture to be treated with respect.

Anyway, what really bothers me about the whole cultural appropriation outrage movement is that they seem to think that everything foreign is inherently sacred.

#1 capnfapn LFT S21 (low-mid IM scout) in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hello! My name is capnfapn but i'm also known as Myles and the scout that isn't pie_hero. I'm looking for a low-mid IM team to scout for. I'd prefer not to play open again because like a lot of people I only improve when I'm being pushed to the limit!!!

esea experience:
The Cattle S20 Intermediate (6 matches)
The Cattle S19 Open (finally made playoffs woo! lmao)
slowbr0 S18 Open (8 matches)
Bait For Jesus S17 Open (1 match)
Gangstas With... S17 Open (7 matches)
Fraggs to Riches S13 Open (12 matches)
Classical Mixtape S12 Open (7 matches)

I tend to play a pretty passive combo oriented scout but I would like to work on being more aggressive. My DM certainly isn't the best in IM but it works well enough to get the job done. My greatest strengths as a player are my ability to stand on control points, keeping people chill in mumble, and magically getting out of the dumb situations I get myself into.

EDIT: also willing to try roamer/pocket in open and possibly roamer on a shit tier IM team.
I can't play until late (10:45ish est) on thursdays.

#28 Lets Talk: Depression/Mental Illness #BellLetsTalk in Off Topic

Hey guys, one of my best lifelong friends was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've known this guy since he was 3 so he is someone very close to me, even if we haven't talked much lately. I don't know the whole story but ever since he decided to take a gap year between HS/college which was about 2 years ago he has done basically nothing with his life besides smoke weed and do a fuckton of psychedelics. I think he really fucked up his brain. He's on medication now which is working but from what I've heard it makes him happy in a really "creepy" way. Im just wondering what other peoples experiences with schizophrenia are becuase im afraid I'll lose a friend :/
