#7 Banning Gunslinger on a Pub in TF2 General Discussion

I remember, there is a plugin out there that allows you to ban a certain weapon by setting the number of them allowed to zero. It's somewhere in the sourcemod plug-in forums, and I know because I used it before and it worked perfectly.

EDIT: Here https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=191585. This is the plugin that I was talking about. It was actually made specifically for gunslinger, ironically. If you install it correctly, it will accomplish exactly what your friend wants.

The only sourcemod commands related to it that you'll need to include in the autoexec then are:

weaplimit_enabled 1 (enable the plugin)
weaplimit_addlimit 0 -1 -1 unknown unknown 142 (which will limit gunslingers to 0)

However, the plugin has been known to cause some issues with lag on Linux based servers for some reason. Use at own risk.

#22 is there any new mainter of fps cfg's? in TF2 General Discussion

You seem to have a problem with me questioning the credentials of a person, and are deflecting that with "well anyone could be thrown into your argument".

Stabby has not once proved nor made strides anywhere regarding fps and configs of TF2. Why would I give the time of day to a person that can't back their work with proper experience? That's like hiring someone to do a job and not knowing whether or not they've actually be certified/done the job before. And even when I did give it the time of day (like suggested) to look through it, it's exactly as I expected. I did use the example of Lange in my prior posts, but if Lange made an fps config, I would look at it solely because of those credentials of past knowledge. Whether or not it would be different is a moot point.

You just seem to be upset that I said something about stabby that doesn't fit with your own personal views, which is a terrible grounds for a rebuttal discussion.

Holy shit who's insulting? I legitimately stopped reading at stabby. Based on experience, one can rightfully make the claim stabby has no experience when it comes to source engine optimizations and uses. Now if it was say Lange, this would be a different case because based on his experience, he knows how things work due to prior achievements.

Just because you copy and paste shit, doesn't mean you know your shit. That's just parroting. I don't know where the insult came from. How is it insulting someone to say they made no new fps stride in their "updated config" which they posted publicly? There are legitimately no new commands or configs that will do anything different because Valve hasn't changed anything.

Stabby's config is what he likes best. It is a chunk of Chris' fps config. Why take a chunk that is a personal preference to one person, when you can take the whole thing from Chris'? Never did I imply Stabby was incompetent or insulted him. That is a rash and misdirected assertion on your part. I implied he did nothing more then tune an already existing config to suit his personal taste, which has no business when it comes to widely used configs, because it is a PERSONAL config. It was not made with the thoughts of all players in mind, rather it was made for that one sole person. So for it to be posted on here when it really contributes nothing, seems like an irrational post.

I don't know shit about console commands either, but I changed the variables in my ragdolls so that they will happen and stay until they go out of my field of vision, which then they will disappear. Does that mean I made an updated config and know what I'm doing? Absolutely not, because I didn't add anything new, rather I just changed what was already there to suit my personal needs. That is the point both you, and the person before seem to be missing.

why?

Chris' configs are awesome but why would you immediately dismiss the work of someone who has as many hours into this game as stabby?

Playing the game for a long time does not mean you know what you're doing when it comes to configs.

Chris sat down for months and months to make the original config and sifted through all of Valve's console commands for TF2 (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/List_of_TF2_console_commands_and_variables). I humored you and looked at this stabby config. It's just a copy paste of bits and pieces of chris' config. Nothing special, as I assumed. He took the pieces that he liked and left the ones he didn't. That's hardly an updated fps config, rather is it just a personal taste fps config.

As it is, there is no reason to maintain the configs unless Valve releases updates for the existing commands or new commands which would be listed in the patch notes every patch. Chris' config is the best available and original config to use for fps. Everything else is a personal taste config, because there is no new commands used in any of them that distinguishes itself above chris'.

Sylvesterhey there, not many people know about this (i think?) but stabby has somewhat of an fps config. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/stabbyvideo/discussions/0/846956740656062937/

just try it out i guess. i used it a few times.

also try running tf2 at lower resolutions for better fps. i have a shitty 300$ laptop and it helps a bit.

I stopped reading at stabby.

#36 o my esea in TF2 General Discussion

Okay. The only thing I have a problem with is these three guys are trying to speak on behalf of all affected. I highly, highly doubt the money they may win from this will be spread out to everyone in a similar situation. Let's be real. Most of the guys in TF2 really don't give a fuck. I don't think everyone came forward and said "yeah we want to sue to" who had their computers used maliciously. So how can this legal, LEGAL document make an assumption that everyone did?

I agree that esea did a criminal offense, and the lawsuit makes sense. But what the fuck gives the plaintiffs the right to speak on behalf of everyone who was involved?

Am I just inept at law or something, or does that seem strange?

#119 Comp.tf - A competitive tf2 wiki? in Projects

I think there should be a gentlemen's agreement not to write about yourself if player profiles start becoming something. At least limit it to your own history, and not write stupid shit about yourself like "one of the premier scouts". Nothing biased like that because that's unprofessional as hell. And actually that could be expanded to every player profile regardless of the person writing it. It looks unprofessional to go say on b4nny's profile and see "best player in tf2" compared to "Considered one of the top players in tf2 due to countless achievements in high levels of play, as well as pristine ability with nearly every class". The second is a lot more professional and well put across into why the player actually has a profile on the comp wiki.

How they set up player profiles over on Liquidpedia is pretty nifty. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/

#4 Casting from the server. in TF2 General Discussion

Could probably try and talk to Valve about a broadcaster channel for servers with tournament enabled, kinda like the way Dota 2 is set up. Then you could have the broadcasters casting live and hear it over the STV possibly while still having the independence of watching any perspective while still hearing the cast.

But then again. It's Valve.

#135 The Weapon Balance Megathread in TF2 General Discussion

Sticky Launcher has viable alternatives though. Scottish Resistance can be used in a way that the Sticky Launcher cannot be. It has a side grade, while hitting it with a downgrade such as primer times which hurts it when not using them as traps.

And it seems like a really cut and dry way to just suggest the degreaser should be the inherent ability of the class. This isn't the beta of TF2, the game's been out for too long to suggest something along the lines of changing the core of the class. If pyro was intended to be a quick switch, then they would've made it that way. But it's not that way. Pyro originally was not intended to do that. It was given a side grade so it could do that.

To just accept that the rest of the items besides the degreaser are shit, is not the point of this and actually goes against what is trying to be done here. Degreaser has no downgrade, it needs one that hurts it in a way that makes other flamethrowers viable. Afterburn and flamethrower damage on a weapon that doesn't use either of those to deal damage mainly, are not downgrades.

#132 The Weapon Balance Megathread in TF2 General Discussion

I'd be more interested in more of an airblast range decrease and pushback decrease when pushing other player units with the degreaser airblast, but keep the airblast reflect range for rockets the same. It encourages close combat, well then you should get in close. This would allow people to keep their quick switching while giving the degreaser a notable performance flaw while using it, which is how all non-stock weapons are supposed to be, getting something for giving something up.

Keep the ammo, keep the mini crits. The ability to push back another player from a considerable range (longer then the actual flame in hammer units) and switch near instantly is the relative problem. You're not giving anything up for using the weapon. Afterburn damage and flame damage are negligible because that is not a pyro's main source of damage, like pointed out again and again.

TL;DR: The degreaser needs some sort of side downgrade that makes sense to counter-act the quickswitch, otherwise there is literally no reason ever to use any other flame-thrower, which Valve does not want.

Also, pyro is the only class that never recommends viable item builds outside of the one-two combo of the degreaser. That in itself is a problem, because that shows there's a weapon monopoly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving on, Soldier secondaries need to be seriously looked at. There is no reason ever to use anything outside of the shotgun or gunboats, and even sometimes not even the shotgun (in highlander). Every other secondary needs a buff to them to compete. Why use any of the banner secondaries when you can jump more? The bison is a pretty powerful weapon too, but the speed of it is what gimps it to not being used over the shotgun.

All I see this thread turning into is people defending their mains when it gets put on the chopping block for nerfing or balancing. Let's be humble and realistic about this.
