a 180 yard drive straight on the fairway will always be better than a 250 yard bomb into the trees

#5 The Block Shoutouts in LAN Discussion

Shoutout Top Ramen Esports, BaconBlitz, TheRealWeiner, rasins, Bliztank and koolaidalan.

Shoutout to Beelzethaus, shitass, Dusk, and birds4thewin for chilling with us all weekend.

Shoutout to SheLANigans for being our scrim partner the whole weekend, and getting pizza with us.

Shoutout to go raw! for being super cool and trying to ring me for a scrim when i was alone at the venue because my entire team got blackout drunk the night before.

Shoutout to FranzJ for coming to dinner with us and just hanging out on Sunday.

Shoutout to the bathroom sink that was spewing boiling water for the entire weekend.

Shoutout to Grape Juice for bullying me in every pug I played against him as I sat directly next to him.

Shoutout to Lou (ty for the duck), Michalele, Wubs, beepity, SOOOAPY, RGL Dolphin, MarioManz, and anyone else I'm forgetting, it was super nice meeting you.

Finally, Shoutout to the organizers, it was super fun, and barring a few of the computers overheating (crypto mining) and causing a few delays, it was super smooth.

#124 rahThread: The story behind your alias in Off Topic

i was frosty for a while (like from wendy's), then in the sake of making it easier for my friends to find my account since there were a billion people also named frosty i eventually ended up as frosttyii

that name sucked and looked like shit so i went on wikipedia and looked for random names of old kingdoms, found the kingdom of Kayor which is some ancient Senegalese thing, changed the k to a c, slapped on an ne and there you go

#5 Tweaking net settings to fit mid-high ping? in Customization

As someone who has played a lot of sniper, if you are averaging 100 ping, this is about what you should expect and there is not very much you can do about it afaik. TF2 has lag compensation, at 100 ping its enough to where you feel responsive, but also slightly off. This guy has a really good video about source lag compensation and how it works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EwaW2iz4iA

That delay (I am completely guessing) that manifests itself to your perception as "weird hitboxes", is the time it takes the server to both calculate and send back your inferred tick hit data

However, high ping does actually give you an advantage in some scenarios, the window for you to shoot where a player is in view is generally a bit bigger in my experience, leading to some cases where you can even shoot players completely behind cover. which is really funny when it happens on the other person's stream (shoutout clanta). You gain more time to shoot, however you will never win an SvS where they peek you first unless they either suck or miss.

tl;dr source game interpolation looks weird, learn to love high ping even though it makes SvS harder
