#6 Why practice different mids in scrims? in TF2 General Discussion

There are different ways to practice, some being more effective for others; it kind of depends on how much time you have to practice, the certain players you have, and many more things. Practicing the same mid for an entire half to see what you can improve on or slightly change until you feel it's solid is a pretty effective way of practicing. After that, you would practice another mid for an entire half, for example. Another way of practicing is actually practicing to win, whether it's doing the same thing or changing up your mids. There's merely no way if you're practicing to win, though, you'll want to do the same mid the entire night if you're playing a team your level.

#42 Sniper aim training in TF2 General Discussion

Once you get good, you'll have your own way of warming up/improving. You should really try to find what works for you. For me, I would warm up on sniper vs sniper servers (when they used to have good players), but I would practice in skial badwater (literally exclusively). I found that every time I played svs servers, it'd be really easy to tell when my aim was warmed up, even if it weren't "practical." When I was warmed up in that, I would consequently be warmed up for 6s/hl sniping. When I played in skial badwater, I would pretty easily tell how I was doing, as weird as it sounds, by the amount of points I was getting, because I played on the same exact server each time. When I was pretty bad at sniper, I barely exceeded the other top 2 points that the players had. When I practiced and used to be better at sniper (in terms of just raw aim from consistently practicing) a couple years ago, I would at least double the 2nd person's points every single time. Now, I can tell how I'm sort of standing in terms of just pure aim whenever I play those pubs, and I noticed that for the few times I tried to consistantly play in those a bit ago, the better I'd do in those pubs, the better my aim was in 6s/hl.

tldr: What I'm trying to say is it's sometimes good to play and practice something consistantly, whether it be a certain pub server, svs servers, hl lobbies, etc., and see how you do each time. It's literally all preference, though, and you should find what works for you yourself. it's usually best to do what you have the most fun doing, or at least have fun doing in general.
