#11 my mouse keeps dying and restarting in Hardware

Mouse cords go out and they can cause intermittent shorts. On my old MX518 mouse I had to replace the cord twice but I did get about 5 years of use out of that mouse before retiring it.

If your mouse is under warranty, contact logitech. If it is not under warranty, go on ebay and buy an OEM replacement logitech cord. Usually about $6 shipped from China. You will need to loosen up your mouse feet then undo a couple screws. If you are careful in loosening up your mouse feet you may be able to reuse them, if not you should be able to get replacements on ebay. Once you have the mouse open there should be a 5 pin plug that you can unplug pretty easily and put in the new cord.

If you have an old cheapo mouse laying around that is a logitech (maybe other brand will work also?) there is a good chance it uses the same mouse cord type and plug. I had a $5 HP mouse which was made by logitech, I took the cord out of this mouse the first time I replaced the cord on my MX518. It lasted a year, then I ended up ordering an OEM one on ebay.

#1 Credit Card Fraud Story and Tips in Off Topic

Just wanted to share a little story with you guys about my experience with credit card fraud, as well as a few tips on things you can due to cut your chances of fraud probably in half.

First off, I buy a lot of stuff online both for business and personal use. I have many credit cards and constantly sign up for new ones due to the outrageous bonuses they offer (e.g. spend $2000 get $500). 4 cards a year like this would net me an extra $2k for the year, not bad.

I've opened 2 new credit card accounts in the past 6 months. My last card was a Southwest business card, which had a very nice 60,000 bonus miles after spending 2K in 3 months. Right when I got that card, I put a couple reoccurring bills on the card such as a shipping account and advertising account. I also made 3-4 purchases through large reputable merchants such as Amazon, Lowes, Home depot to name a few, as well as a couple local brick and motor stores. Within less than 1 month of that card opening, I noticed online there were 2x $50 charges for a webhosting company in Singapore. I immediately called the card # on the back of my card and they cancelled the card. I requested they expedite me a new card, which they did UPS overnight me a new one. I continued spending on it and all was fine, I hit my 2K goal in 3 months and got my 60K southwest miles.

Onto the next card. Got a Citi bank card with 50K bonus points after a 3K spend in 3 months. I applied for it about 10 days ago, my friend applied on the same day as me. He got his card last Saturday in the mail, its Wednesday today and I have yet to receive my card. I then get an email and text message from Citi reporting suspicious transactions. It was a $6 charge in Mexico. So apparently someone at either Citi or at the Post office stole my credit card out of the mail and sent it to Mexico. I contacted Citi's fraud department and they cancelled that card, and are Fedex overnighting me a new card.

Anyways it is very annoying and quite honestly short of not using a credit card at all, some of these situations are just unavoidable. Check your credit and debit cards regularly and watch out for bs transactions for things you didn't buy.

Also for those of you that regularly use a credit/debit card locally and online here are a few tips:

1) Avoid ever having the card leave your hand. At restaurants for example sometimes people will hand off their card to the waiter/waitress. This is the perfect chance for a skimmer to steal your card number or for them to snap a picture of your card with their phone. Use cash or ask to pay upfront or sometimes they can bring a card reader to your table.

2) When shopping online when possible try to checkout with a 3rd party merchant wallet such as Paypal or google checkout. This insures that the merchant never sees your credit card #.

3) Some credit card companies such as Citi have virtual credit card numbers which you can generate through your online account. These card #'s are only valid for a short amount of time and can only be charged once. So if there is a data breech, the card # is useless.

4) A credit card is much safer than a debit card. Credit cards have better fraud protection, as you are not spending your own money, but the banks money. I had fraud on a debit card a few years back and I had to fill out all kinds of paperwork and even pay and get a notary confirming that I did not authorize those transactions.

5) When possible avoid giving your CC number to someone over the phone. It is usually safer to order online, especially if you can use a virtual CC or 3rd party wallet service.

Anyways this is a lot longer than I intended, but if any of you guys have fraud stories please share. I'm just baffled at how I had 2 cases of fraud 2 cards in a row within a few months!

#36 Amazon Prime Day - July 15th in Hardware

I bought a couple things... 3x $15 amazon gift cards ($45 total) with a $10 free bonus gift card.

Then I bought a couple grocery related items, one was 50% off, the other was 35% off and much cheaper than any local stores.

Also snagged a couple random items on Amazon warehouse deals as they have 15% off right now.

@ Kairu, this SSD probably isn't as quality but damn is it cheap for a 240GB... $60 at best buy

bl4nkI have a few times actually. Don't get me wrong, 2 days is still a short wait and awesome. Just the few times I've ordered stuff before noon and I get it at like 6, it's pretty neat.

My friend in the bay area said the free same day is only for $35+ even for prime customers, is that right? I'm in California and half of the stuff I order gets here overnight even with the 2 day shipping. I guess it just depends if the item is in a regional warehouse close by or not.

freakinrangaRoad-trip-ready automotive products starting at 50% off
- if this included radar detectors that'd be amazing
yeah I'm looking to get a radar detector and dash cam, hoping both are on sale

also, does anybody know the cheapest bose headphones have ever been on amazon

Go to camelcamelcamel.com . Yea its a funny site name but the site is awesome. Copy and paste the amazon URL into that site and it will show you the price history for that item. I use this site also for items that I want to buy eventually but I'm not in a rush to buy, I set a price alert and when it drops below my target price I can buy it.

yukiDoes it matter where you live to take advantage of this? e.g. do Aussies get the same or similar deals?

I imagine this is a USA only sale, but Amazon does ship some items overseas (although shipping is quite expensive usually), but depending on the item and shipping cost it may still be a good deal for you.

Slayer, please look into this. Just wanna know your opinion

He is already banned on TF2C, but I reviewed 2 demos of him last night. I can tell you with full confidence that he is cheating. No question about it, and I don't think anyone else would dispute this either. If anyone has any doubts as to his legitimacy, please watch the STV here: http://sizzlingstats.com/stats/390223

On granary he has horrible movement (hardly any jumping or side strafing as scout) yet seems to be able to 2 shot almost everyone he fights. Gets multiple 3-4K's. His aim seems very bad even considering its an STV, yet the shots are still hitting. http://logs.tf/922815?highlight=76561198055056777

91% Scatter accuracy, 63% sniper. But the evidence is in the STV, the accuracy stats which I believe are probably quite accurate are only supporting evidence.

After I watched that STV, I was already convinced, but just for the fun of it I wanted to see one of him sniping. This is where it gets laughable. He gets a 12K on warmfront lands like 12 headshots in a row, he might have missed once or twice?

http://dl.tragicservers.com/maps/cp_warmfront.bsp.bz2

Log for that game http://logs.tf/902951?highlight=76561198055056777

I've been told that the log above by Dex was from a UGC match, so I will be forwarding this on to UGC.

Well looks like yuri is unbanned again and playing centers. The irony of that log is bo4r vs yuri. Notice yuris 68% accuracy on sniper. If she's legit why is she not on a high invite team? She clearly has the best aim in the game by FAR.

Walmart and Bestbuy are also jumping on the bandwagon and are promising some pretty insane deals as well.

Luckily its perfect timing for me, as with my Discover card I get 10% off on Amazon and Walmart right now :)

I was looking through a TF2 hacker group called lmaobox mvm. Yes a group of hackers that play MVM together. I guess for some people MVM is so hard that they need to cheat?

Anyways so far I came up with one guy that I'm 99% sure is cheating:

Name: oXY #LFT
STEAM_0:1:89046741
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198138359211
http://logs.tf/825169?highlight=76561198138359211

He has 800 hours in TF2, 2 VAC bans on record within the last year, is part of that lmaobox mvm group, and is on some kind of inactive Highlander team called "Get Good." He also has on his profile LFT iron to Gold. That's quite a skill range, but I'm sure with his lmaobox he could easily play at any level!

Edit: Yea the link that polar posted below is actually on his profile. So he posted a video clip of himself hacking on spy.

DoctorMiggyI add on to what someone else said earlier.
I agree, having high DPM as sniper in center matches can be achieved completely legitimately as long as the other sniper has 0 idea what he's doing. And, as stated before, logs can be buggy as hell at times. Look at one of my logs from last year.
http://logs.tf/220878?highlight=76561197968377396
Don't always take having that one "weird" log as 100% proof of cheating.

I'm 95% sure that log is bugged and DPM for everyone is double of what it should be. I've seen quite a few logs where DPM randomly gets doubled. The overall DPM from everyone is outrageous. On your team, damage classes (everyone minus medic) averaged 590 DPM.

Edit: Here are a few examples of doubled DPM logs:

nopeVortexi mean logs.tf calculates accuracy in a bad way, sure. but if it consistently calculates accuracy in this way it doesn't change the fact you don't see anyone else getting 90% so i don't see how it's relevant that her "real" accuracy isn't 90%

i didn't watch the stvs or claim to have an opinion one way or another i just think that arguing about how sg acc is calculated as an excuse is a little silly
It just means that spamming 3 damage chipshots into crowds from afar is an easy way of boosting your logs.tf accuracy by 10-15%. If most people don't do that because it's pointless and yuri makes a habit of it, of course her logs are going to look suspicious.
dollarlayerPretty hard to believe that she is in the 60-70% range on sniper every time! Better than any plat sniper or invite player could dream of! I found this hard to believe so I went and tried to check out some accuracy logs for plat snipers. Unfortunately it seems like having accuracy is pretty rare in itself and usually when it is activated for some reason it only works with stickies (?!?!) but after going through quite a few logs I found this one of paragon getting 60% against a mid plat team. Considering that the movement of people in plat will definitely be better than your average tf2center player (for example yuri's "91%" log had thief on the other team), that's pretty comparable to yuri's.

You found one example of another high end player getting 60% accuracy. Let me know when you find any high end players that almost exclusively get 60-70%+ on sniper like yuri.

And you are using a single log as counter proof? I'm not arguing that one log out of every hundred or so at 60% is not possible from a high level player, I'm arguing that I have never seen anything like yuri's sniper accuracy which is in the 60-70% range.

Also, about half of paragons sniper logs have accuracy, was pretty easy to come up with a handful of his logs in about 5 minutes.

http://logs.tf/911211?highlight=76561198029991763 (46%)
http://logs.tf/899665?highlight=76561198029991763 (38%)
http://logs.tf/886181?highlight=76561198029991763 (37%)
http://logs.tf/874410?highlight=76561198029991763 (47%)
http://logs.tf/398459?highlight=76561198029991763 (47%)
http://logs.tf/356589?highlight=76561198029991763 (44%)
http://logs.tf/344200?highlight=76561198029991763 (30%)

You must have looked through quite a few logs in order to cherry pick that 60% log. I never saw anything above 50% from paragon on the first few pages of his logs.

I also looked at some logs from max, went through about 20-30 logs with accuracy from max on sniper. They were all in the 32-52% range. I'd guess the average is around 43% give or take 1-2%. Oh and half of these logs were TF2C lobbies.

deetrdollarlayer And with scout rarely dips below 80%.
So I just went through all her logs with accuracy enabled and this doesn't really seem to be true. I got an average of 71% over her logs w/ accuracy enabled where she did over 2000 scatter damage.

Here's all her logs with accuracy where she played scout and got over 2000 damage in reverse chronological order if anybody is interested http://pastebin.com/bpae3nF4

Also I didn't parse some really old logs because they used a different format and I didn't feel like figuring it out, but in the interest of full disclosure here they are: http://pastebin.com/khejyasR (I don't know how many of them have accuracy)

Edit: These are scatter accuracy only, I didn't mention that

My earlier statement about rarely dipping below 80% was referencing her last ~20 pages of logs. I have little doubt that any cheats/hacks/exploits of any kind were being used in her earlier scout play when she averaged 60ish %.I might have missed a couple because this was all done manually, but I could very rarely find any scout logs below about 76-78%, almost all were 80%+.

Then the sniper ones 60-70% were also from the last 20 pages.

She was an average scout at best on some earlier logs from about a year ago. Something DRAMATIC happened with her aim. These are old logs randomly selected nothing cherry picked. Obviously no cheats or "getting good" of any kind in these logs. Oh and its not like she was a total noob when she played these lobbies. IIRC she had 1-2K lobies on tf2lobby prior to these center logs right here:

http://logs.tf/192784?highlight=76561198044159901 64%
http://logs.tf/204952?highlight=76561198044159901 63%
http://logs.tf/266486?highlight=76561198044159901 66%, 33% sniper
http://logs.tf/266508?highlight=76561198044159901 59%, 30% sniper
http://logs.tf/285484?highlight=76561198044159901 71%

--------------------------

Also I just looked at your paste bin for logs with chronological order and I found something interesting.

Over the course of only ~160 scout logs, she went from 62.95% (Last 20 logs used for average) average accuracy to 81.2% (most recent 20 logs used for average). That does not sound like a normal reasonable skill improvement, let alone arguing the legitimacy of averaging 80%+ even in lobbies.

Most of us have used a computer and gamed for years. Improving your hand eye coordination by that much in such a short period of time is pretty hard to believe IMO.

So even if the 96% accuracy log just happened to glitch out only on yuri, why would it effect only one player? And what about the other logs here:

http://logs.tf/842934?highlight=76561198044159901 91% scatter
http://logs.tf/872998?highlight=76561198044159901 84% scatter.

http://logs.tf/850402?highlight=76561198044159901 82% scatter
http://logs.tf/862255?highlight=76561198044159901 81% scatter

http://logs.tf/863819?highlight=76561198044159901 71% sniper
http://logs.tf/863884?highlight=76561198044159901 69% sniper
http://logs.tf/870859?highlight=76561198044159901 65% sniper
http://logs.tf/848604?highlight=76561198044159901 63% sniper

I couldn't find any sniper logs from yuri within the past few months with <60% accuracy with a usable sample size. Even this one today of yuri is 63% accuracy on sniper: http://logs.tf/917548?highlight=76561198044159901

Pretty hard to believe that she is in the 60-70% range on sniper every time! Better than any plat sniper or invite player could dream of! And with scout rarely dips below 80%.

She either has the best aim the community has ever seen by a large margin, or is hacking.
