#23 Credit Card Fraud Story and Tips in Off Topic

Just a little update to the OP. Today I got my original citi credit card in the mail (the one that never arrived and had fraud on the account before it was activated or received by me). Since it is a high end card it was sent in a fancy box, not in a letter envelope. The box was still factory sealed. This leads me to conclude there are only 2 possibilities for how my credit card number was obtained:

1) Internal fraud from a Citibank employee

2) An external hack on a Citi bank database

Although it is encouraging that USPS was not to blame for stealing my card out of the mail although they are to blame for it taking 2-3 weeks to arrive instead of 2-3 days (Priority Mail). To me though it is even more scary that some internal or external force is stealing credit card numbers from Citi bank.

#2 QoS Setup in Hardware

Port 27015 is what most servers use 27015, but sometimes they use another port like 27016 or something. It would be TCP. UDP is broadcast spam from like a printer for example. UDP AFAIK in normal router configurations can not pass subnets, so it shouldn't be relevant to enable QoS on UDP for TF2.

IMO though consumer grade QoS in routers is generally not very good and I'm unsure if it makes much of a difference.

I think the router will prompt you to restart it if it is required in order for the settings to take effect.

#5 ASUS 144Hz VG248QE $210 in Hardware
tetrominoI have one too and it's pretty good, I think you can get it cheaper than this though but I'm not sure.

$250 is the lowest current price from a reputable merchant.

I have this monitor as well, I do like it but I run lightboost, and the colors and brightness are quite bad with lightboost enabled, but screen taring is almost nonexistent. I've heard that LG has a good 144Hz monitor with lightboost built in that is very good, but its like $300.

#1 ASUS 144Hz VG248QE $210 in Hardware

Staples.com has the 24" ASUS VG248QE 144Hz 1ms LED 3D Monitor for $259.39 - $50 when you checkout via VISA Checkout = $209.39. Shipping is free.

Full details can be found on slickdeals

Note that it requires signing up for Visa checkout, then paying with a credit/debit card. But that only takes a few extra minutes.

Hidi perhaps consider a resup cabinet or a health pack on either end

I agree. Either a cabinet or auto health reset after you fall. Would also be nice to have a /s (save) and /t (teleport) like they do on jump maps. Maybe there is a way to simply implement the plugin that is run on jump servers that allows those commands.

#54 10k hours to mastery in Off Topic
AuraMixI have over 10k Hours and I'm still in UGC Steel, send help.

I heard there is some paid software out there that can make you good overnight.

On a serious note though, I'm approaching 10,000 hours soon :( 60%-70 of mine is idle though, I've never reset my class stats.

#8 Firepowered MGE servers in Requests
DanceNumberThe servers tab is legit one of the best features of this site. I wish it could show ping somehow too, that would be really cool.

Might be nice, but at least most of them list the location so you should have a rough estimate as to how you will ping.

MR_SLINdollarlayerThe Firepowered servers can be extremely laggy at times...

You can add my Los Angeles MGE server, it was on the list for a few months then randomly was taken off? Not sure why. 192.210.193.143:27015
I can't tell if you're hijacking this thread or providing me with the IP address of the Firepowered MGE server. Please clarify this for me. Who owns Firepowered MGE?

I figured since it was on the topic of MGE servers, rather than making a new thread I would include my Los Angeles MGE server's IP for you to add as well. I don't see any other California MGE servers on the list right now. If you are able to add that server: 192.210.193.143:27015 it would be appreciated. PM me if you need any info.

#33 ESEA IM Playoffs - #4 Muffin Men v. #5 Mad Luxurious Gold in Events

I watched about 15 minutes of the match on granary. I died when I saw that an engie had carried a level 3 into the 2nd capture point on granary. I felt like I was spectating a lobby or something for part of that game!

tr_medic_agility I beat it but the 2nd time I was trying to do a speedrun I felt like slitting my wrists and had to close my game for fear of bodily harm. The one with the blue and brown barrels, some of those jumps I fail right near the very last platform jump and have to do it all over again. I don't understand how it could be so hard to get the timing down on a crouch jump for medic. It's like some of those long crucial jumps I can only land 1/4 tries.

deetrYeah this dude aims like way off to the side nowhere near his target for like 1/3 of his shots, but any time he is anywhere near on target he hits a meatshot. Sort of insane that you can be that bad and that blatant but still try to defend yourself.

But he paid for his hacks and its silent aim... its supposed to be undetectable! :P

In reality when you have the FOV cranked up like he does, coupled with very bad movement and game sense, its very obvious what he's using.

Anyone have a contact at Firepowered so we can get him banned there also?

#22 Credit Card Fraud Story and Tips in Off Topic
arcadiadollar whats with you and catching cheaters + thieves?

LOL, idk they fascinate me. Maybe I should have become a detective or something...

Marxistbought a few cars with a bag full of money - it always goes for a good laugh.

Next time you buy a car with cash you should walk in with a brief case handcuffed to your hand like how they do it in the movies. They will know you mean business!

CHERRYHow does it work with giving waitress your card? In Europe they have to bring card reader, cause all cards at least require entering PIN. If it's contactless (and I don't think you can get traditional cards anymore) they are not supposed to take it either, you read the value entered by them from the screen and hover card over reader yourself if you agree.

IMO it is pretty ridiculous to have that be the standard to hand the waitress your card and let them walk away with it for a couple minutes to process the transaction. Then you write a tip on the receipt. What's keeping them from adding an extra 0 on the end of the tip amount you write? $5 becomes $50? The way things are done only encourages fraud. It seems like the major CC companies would want to prevent fraud!

Also depending on the card/merchant most places do not require a signature for credit card transactions <$20. I know American Express at costco for example doesn't even require a signature if its <100 or <200 forget the exact amount but its a fair amount.

Gas stations also don't require a signature, just a billing zip code, which could be pretty easy to guess or know if you were trying to commit fraud on a stolen card.

deetriirc paypal lets you do this for free with any card

Paypal used to offer a virtual mastercard number which you could generate and use on websites that didn't accept paypal. They discontinued that a couple years ago.

HildrethHow do you net yourself an extra 2k if you're paying interest on the original balance?

I pay it off in full every month. I have auto pay setup on all my accounts. If you are lazy and never check your account, this is a bad idea as you may end up auto paying for someone's fraud transaction on your account. But as long as you check it at least every month or two, you should be fine.

In addition to the sign up bonuses, most of my credit cards give me cash back % on everything I buy. Right now I have a card that gives me 2% back on everything I buy, and 10% off on Amazon. I have some that give me 5% off on gas. It's nice and the savings add up.

---------------------------

One other tip I have about credit cards is a website called creditkarma.com. It might be just for US customers, not sure. But anyways this site allows you to track your credit score for free, and also you can link up all your credit accounts so you can see all your transactions on one list, without having to sign into 5 different online accounts.
