#14 Zowie ec1-a died in Hardware
Firehmm idk theres not much about dismantling the ec1-a around so i think getting a new one is the safer option in this case. ive never rly did anything with mice except for fixing the mwheel so im not experienced with this :P
thx for the suggestion tho

I would still recommend opening it up if possible. You can still get a good mouse, but if it is an easy fix, then why not fix it and have a backup mouse, as well as the knowledge of how to fix a mouse in the future?

Most likely you will need to pry off the mouse feet which are probably secured by an adhesive. Use a small flat head screw driver or knife or something to carefully lift up these feet. If done carefully they may be re-usable. Then most likely there will be 2 or more screws. Unscrew those to take the casing apart. Then look at how the mouse cord is attached to the PCB board. Most likely its some kind of 5 pin plug. It might use the exact same connector as logitech uses. You could take a picture of it if you do end up opening the mouse up.

#17 Lightboost in Hardware

I use lightboost on my Asus VG248QE. I've heard people say that lightboost increases input lag, however I've not noticed any difference, and one could argue that the slight increase in possible input latency is made up by the reduction in motion blur. What I have noticed is a significant reduction of screen tearing.

If you'd like to experience the difference in a tangible benchmark situation, I would highly recommend downloading a program called PixPerAn, which is a benchmark for screen tearing and refresh rates. Basically text fly's by on the screen gradually increasing in speed till you can no longer read it. With lightboost off I could only get to about level 7. With it on I could get to about 18. The difference in clarity was insane!

Watching this video on youtube, then download the software in the description and run it.

The biggest downside though for lightboost, especially on the VG248QE are the colors that result. Poor contrast ratio and not as bright. I've heard that the LG 24GM77-B 144Hz, has a very good built in lightboost implementation and contrast ratio is only ~10% worse with lightboost on.

#41 Ascent edges out FROYO, advances to grand finals in News

The whole people lagging out in a match is not fun for anyone. Would be cool if some kind of backup internet situation was available. Could be something like running a 100ft Ethernet cord from a chill neighbors house, or if you or a friend have a good reliable 4G LTE tethered phone, that would be better than a flaky internet connection.

Anyways, look forward to watching these teams play each other on LAN.

#6 Ban Timers in Site Discussion
Red_Whenever I get banned can you add a feature that shows how long you're banned? Would be helpful

You mean you've been banned on these forums multiple times? Damn.

Considering your account appears to be an alt account, I'm surprised it wasn't a permaban.

0.6 hours in TF2... really?

lol that guy... dead giveaway even when he's playing soldier: http://www.twitch.tv/powah/b/680392462?t=14m48s

Clip starts about 5-10 seconds after that linked time stamp. Notice how Kunkka is standing still and facing straight yet some of his rockets are leaving his launcher at a 45 degree angle without him moving!

#12 Selling all steam games at 20% discount in Hardware

Interesting, this is a TF2 forum, and you appear to have zero hours in TF2. hmmm

I help friends get games/keys and stuff sometimes, but I mostly just deal with friends that I have known for a while.

You might have better luck finding someone that buys keys, and you can sell to them and go first (if they have good rep).

It might also be helpful to share how you got all your money in your steam wallet.... e.g. unboxed something and sold it on the market. Otherwise it looks a little shady.

#6 UGC 6v_standard not working in Q/A Help

Delete all UGC related config/whitelists and download them again from the UGC website. I've never seen a file called ugc_6v6_s18.cfg before. I think one config is making a call to exec another config which doesn't exist.

If this is a date 12-30-13 then its trying to exec some really old config. Almost 2 years old.

smoboi think this kid is using the new, gimped silent aimbot based on the weird-ass inhuman flicks he's doing on sniper (in the course of 3 frames, snaps to the target and back to original position)

Yea that is how silent aim works now. I had someone demonstrate it yesterday in a pub. Snaps onto target for one frame then back to original aiming position. Quite easy to spot unless their aim very close to begin with. But with a large fov it looks ridiculously jerky. I'll try to upload a video later so people can see what it looks like.

Edit: Here is the video as promised: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mlWPNdGQ-Q&feature=youtu.be

Edit 2: Possibly rage heavy was patched by some of the hack makers? From a post on reddit "Just ran into a heavy on a Valve server who was murdering everyone. Apparently the bot makers have their own patch and things are back to "normal." This heavy.....was murdering everyone and telling everyone how/why so I guess he/she didnt care."

redrocket4Another blatant hacker playing with his friend,"on" http://steamcommunity.com/id/COPYED_LINK_D0NT_FOLLOW/
"The Seagull" http://steamcommunity.com/id/sunforest/

"on" is the hacking sniper, blatantly looking at people through walls, headshotting people without a care and facing the wrong way.

"The Seagull" is the one that hosts the lobby and lets him snipe like this with no punishment, also might be hacking.

Stats are here: http://logs.tf/941207, to be honest, its obvious from the kills alone, 71 frags with 74 headshots. Unfortunatly I could not find the STV, but I can upload my POV if necessary.

I was looking at "The Seagull's" friends list and stumbled upon http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198101978368

Well, looks like valve has been up to some good. https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/3effpb/nospread_and_psilent_silent_aim_have_been_patched/

Apparently the update released yesterday (7/23) also patched LMAOBOX's silent aimbot, and no-spread hack. I suppose it's possible that some other hacks still have some kind of silent aim using a different technique that isn't patched, but we know from the lmoabox forums that silent aimbot and nospread don't work!

This patch I don't think has any effect on the lock on aimbot or trigger bot.

Not sure if valve made a fundamental change to the integrity of hit registration and made some client/server changes, or if this is just an obstacle that will be bypassed by the hacks next update. Who knows. But for now this is very good news and is a step in the right direction.

#16 Transparent viewmodels and fov in Customization

I think 70 viewmodel fov and 90 player fov is a good balance and average settings used by people in the community. I wouldn't mind seeing them use transparent view models, as less of the view is blocked.

Got a couple more to report. Polk was playing in a pub in found a couple hackers. I joined to check them out. When I looked up the first guys steam ID, I saw that he had a logs.tf profile and had played some TF2C. So I thought might as well grab a quick demo of both of them hacking.

Also the clown in the past was apparently banned on TF2C and accused of wallhacks, but it says on the forums he was unbanned: http://forums.tf2center.com/topic/2456-toby-kinte-steam-0096009288/

FWIW "Thundah" never cheated under that account AFAIK. But Tycho was his hacking alt account and he cheated badly on that account. It was my impression that you cheat on an alt, then TF2C bans your main for 10 years also.

You can look at Thundah's stats if you have any doubts: http://beta.tf2playerrankings.com/profile/76561198116882356?source=tf2center

Although part of me feels slightly bad for Thundah, I still think TF2C should stick to their policy. Not banning mains for alt cheating would only encourage more alt cheating.

-----------------------------

About that wallhack thing on granary. Never experienced that before, but then again I don't really mess with settings to try to find exploits. I have heard that on some maps you may be able to see through the spawn doors with the transparent view models. But I've never experienced anything like that and been running the transparent view models for 2-3 months.

Sounds to me like maybe your mouse cord has a short in it. Happens on all mice. You may be able to buy a new mouse cord and replace it yourself. I've done that a few times on logitech gaming mice.
