#51 Drowning simulator in Other Games
MunchdrakHowever, I will pursue dialogue on it. To an extent, I'd argue it's unwise to go in the middle of a body of water, with an unskilled partner, no life-vest, AND a poor swimming ability.
I don't understand the flak I'm getting. I'm not trying to one-up the makers or say they did something wrong. I'm saying the mentality of the fictional character was wrong. He could have done things more efficiently to save himself, but didn't, and that's where I'm throwing my points at.
That's like... the entire point of the game though. To show happens when you make these mistakes out at sea. You drown and die a horrible death no matter how hard you try to fight it. So arguing about how the character is kind of stupid is really redundant because everyone that's played the game should have already noticed that.

I guess if it was all so obvious, there was no need for me to say anything.
My (actual) apologies, carry on.

    fucking tread water you imbecile
nice screaming and putting yourself in a panic, and then having your muscles cramp
and it takes you two and a half minutes to take off your shoes so you're more efficient?
also, your friend is a fuckwad idiot who doesn't know how boats work, had he steered hard into the wind, he would have just stopped and chilled for a second while you swam over
and you two idiots didn't pack any floatation devices to be thrown to you

how are you even this worked up about something that's not real?

this didn't actually happen

Mirror neurons.
In case you actually wanted an answer, since I'm quite aware it didn't actually happen.
I subjected myself to an experience, so I experienced it in part.
I really don't see why everyone has an issue with what I've been posting in this thread, I've merely been trying to delve deeper into the hypothetical situation.

turtsmcgurtsi don't know if you completed it or not, but I think they tried making it clear his friend wanted him to die. that explains why he didn't bother turning into him or tossing him something.

I may be missing something again, but this doesn't make sense at all.
First off, it detracts from the point of the whole experience. It has no place there.
And on the other hand, if you wanted to kill someone, just push them in the water and keep sailing?

Also, @Shizno:
Yeah, maybe. I've been in choppy sea before, and of course it isn't easy. However, I've said I'm comfortable in water. The "maybe" comes from me simply not knowing. I've never been knocked in the water with the knowledge that my chances are slim. I've panicked sometimes in my life, I know what it feels like. I've overcome it sometimes, sometimes not. I'm saying maybe, to give myself hope in such a hypothetical scenario. This was a very good post, I'm glad it made it on here, and I'm glad this video was made.

1) If you think you're going to stay calm at the start, you think way too highly of yourself. In reality almost everyone will panic

2) Again, you're panicking. TBH, those shoes wouldn't even hurt your swimming that much, if at all.

3) He has no idea how sailboating works, as explained at the start. I have never been on a sailboat and other than trying to steer the wheel (which has been explained to me doesn't do much) I would not have been able to turn around either.

4) That is the whole point on the game; to explain how important floation devices are.

I don't understand why you would pull off your fingertip though. Anyone have a clue? Maybe part of the hallucinations.

Okay.
1) It's about overcoming it. Maybe I think highly of myself, but I'm fairly comfortable in water, and would try and use those initial very important moments to convey what needs to be done for #3.
2) The shoes definitely would hurt your swimming. They're porous, and will take on a lot of weight. It will be hard to kick. Frankly, I'd probably undress completely if I'm at all in for a longer run with the aforementioned imbecile friend.
3) Seriously, he's dumb. Wind in sail = move forward. No sail = no wind. Turn into wind, unhook sail, success.
4) *Edit*, you're right, I didn't see the final message in the "movie download" version of it

I'm not hating on the whole thing. I'm hating with frustration that this person died so easily. The whole situation upset me, and it really has left me thinking about my plan of action.
Also, for what it's worth, the boom didn't hit him that hard, and his hand stops it from hitting his head. Swim up up up quickly, you see where the boat goes. His friend could have tossed him SOMETHING.

Eesh, I have work to do, and this is just upsetting me. If anyone wants to keep playing devil's advocate, I actually want you to. I'm fighting the idea of me drowning, is all. I'll say it again: this was very well executed, and has left an impact.

I may have gotten a little frustrated as my index finger tired. TF2 never prepared me for this.

However, as far as execution goes, this was, indeed, done very well

#1709 Frag Clips Thread in Videos

I've literally never sniped with any seriousness before, and the past two weeks I tried it out in a 6s environment. Hopefully there's something you enjoyed in it if you ended up watching.

#74 Source Recording Tool in Customization

Hey,
So I linked the commandline virtualdub instead of the proper exe, so I somehow need to undo that and reconnect it to the proper executable. Any ideas on how?

------------------------------
Also:

DeXtIs this not working for anyone else? I haven't used it in a while. Re-downloaded it but still nothing working

Edit: Nothing working as in binds not executing and I cannot exec manually. So cant control speed, make it rec etc

So that was happening to me, until I ticked the boxes tf2-moviehud and tf2-viewedbypass
I don't know why, but it worked, so I'm letting you know.

#3 Interviews in TF2 General Discussion

I really enjoyed the Rays one, and the Banny interview as well.
Keep making them, they're quite enjoyable, and you don't ask the questions so they get awkward like they do with you ;)

#26 Mouse Disconnects in TF2 in Off Topic

Welp. Turns out it was a mouse problem, according to the "connect to another computer" thing.

So I said, fu Jakeypoo, I'm never missing out a fun scrim again.
I'm finna fix this my (DAAAAAMN) self.

---In this intermission to the epic of drak, I'd like to apologize for using your time while it still was a directly-mouse issue. My other mouse was the source of confusion, as it had been used with success before. Shame. I also didn't understand why it would stop working in games moreso than out. Mah bad, again, and thanks, again---

Anyways, I opened it up, and jankification ensued. However, it works just fine, albeit I did manage to break one of the screws, so I now have red light seeping out one side. I'll also probably have to reglue the pads, since the screws were under them.
I guess I'm just very proud of this fix. I've never done something like this before, and I finally got to apply some rudimentary Physics 2 knowledge I thought I'd never need. Also known as, insulators. Also known as, duct tape wrapped around enough to become janky electrical tape.

Once again, thank you all.

TheFragiledrakI don't see how it can be anything but hardware if it's a randomly arising issue. If no changes occur, especially on the software end, then it has to be either the mice, the USB ports, or worst case scenario, the motherboard, correct?
Then, if it's the USB hubs or the motherboard, is there anything I can do besides getting a new motherboard?
Anything to look for on the USB ports or motherboard for indicative damage/problems?

mice: possible but that would be one awful coincidence.

USB ports: also another awful coincidence that all of them would be messing up at the same time. If your keyboard or other USB devices don't have any issues, then there's pretty much no chance it's your USB ports.

motherboard: that's what I'm thinking, which sucks.

I don't think there's really anything you can visually scope out to see if it's the motherboard. It could just be that it's crapping out on you. As previously mentioned, the polling rate was the only other thing to look out for, but if you've changed it all around with the same result, then it indeed might be the motherboard. How long have you had the motherboard for?

Since August maybe?
I'm worried it could be something as simple as dust...

narfSee if it happens when your keyboard is unplugged. I've had a similar thing happen to me and it turned out that my keyboard was dying

No difference. I've even tried unplugging as many things from the USB ports as possible in an effort to reduce power usage and see if that was an issue, but to no avail. It seems mouse specific, although I would guess it's hard to force whatever overloads are occurring through the keyboard.

TheFragiledrakI forgot to mention: the mouse also occasionally disconnects in simple operations during regular windows usage (yes, also am on Windows 7). I'm guessing it has to do with a power issue at the USB hub/motherboard. What are my potential plans for action here? I'm hesitant to open up my computer, but could it be something as simple as dust?

The problem gets exacerbated by usage. So, trying to repeatedly reconnect/connect the mouse, especially if something intensive is running, will cause the disconnecting to happen much more frequently.

If I were to go into my computer to check for things, what would you say is best to look for?

Again, thanks for all the help so far everyone, I really appreciate it.

Try the mice in a different computer on the ridiculous off-chance that both mice are somehow dying simultaneously (which is very unlikely). Otherwise, it sounds like it's a possible issue with your motherboard (if you're certain it's not your drivers).

I don't see how it can be anything but hardware if it's a randomly arising issue. If no changes occur, especially on the software end, then it has to be either the mice, the USB ports, or worst case scenario, the motherboard, correct?
