gemmit's like it never happened
The majority of my work at Copenhagen Games was off-stream. My two biggest events in 2019 and most of it is gone :/
The i65 stuff makes me eXtra sad because gemm's sentiment is eXactly what got me into eXtv from the start. If there's no proof, it 's like it never happened. Those of us who attended or watched live know, but we now can't share the eXperience with others.
Tino_Tbh the nursey shit was blown out of proportion by the community due to lack of information, and this blow up is what caused the problems, not the issue in and of it self.
It did get blown out of proportion, but the facts of the matter as you laid out are still upsetting to me. Nursey had a lifetime ban from RGL issued that she didn't appeal, to put your hands up in the air as an organizer and say you don't have to take a stance because Nursey isn't planning on attending is ridiculous, especially considering what she was banned for. As soon as it blipped on the radar as a possibility it should have been quickly addressed privately with a firm NO and creating guidelines for other potential cases. They didn't clearly define any sort of policy for why a player should or shouldn't be banned from attending as a player, talent, or attendee. This lack of procedure obviously came back to bite them when they mishandled the situation with Alfa.
This event was a massive failure, I hope current and future organizers learn as many lessons as they can from its collapse.
The final nail in the coffin resulted from alfa's public lament of his team’s e[X]clusion from the event.
Article could be a lot more detailed in some points, and kind of goes of on some tangents on other points. No disrespect to TSC but I think this article paints the TSC/Alfa situation as being a bigger deal than it was. Samiface cancelled with a grenade on her way out because of all the other drama, not because TSC was gone. I'm sure it added to Samiface's stress levels before she pulled the pin, and it is a notable facet of this event, but I don't think it was the "final nail".
The organizers scrambled to organize a bootcamp for XIAO, numerous individuals in the community were revealed to be engaging in inappropriate relations with minors, and Beyond the Summit enforced tough restrictions on marketing and branding.
This is an odd sentence, because the bootcamp issue is just an organizational thing that doesn't have any relevance regarding the events cancellation. The second part isn't relevant in this conteXt, the players being banned from RGL had nothing to do with this event... ... until it was revealed that Dashner was defending the potential of Nursey attending, a facet of this incident that was unmentioned in the article. The third part is something that was understood and clear from the beginning based off the contract that Samiface signed. It sounds negative towards BeyondTheSummit and I think that after this whole thing we should be thankful to them for the initial chance that they gave us, and remorseful that a great opportunity for them and us was fucked up.
Same with UCI, ESA, and ESL. They all wanted to help out as they could and we should be thankful for their assistance in trying to find a solution. I'm very hopeful for the future of NA TF2 LANs because of the offers of help we got. People would love to help support Competitive TF2.
While Alfa kicked up a decent storm, the major issues with the event were Dashner arguing that Nursey should be allowed to attend (then brushing off concerns about the stance because Nursey wasn't planning on attending), Dashner being Dashner, and Samiface's stance towards Dashner's accusers. The last facet was something else that was left out of the article.
Wish something could have been figured out, I tried to help how I could.
Thanks for writing something up.
Take care homie. See you soon.
I'm responsible for smoking the turkey, roasting the brussel sprouts, and mashing the potatoes. Important stuff.

Taking place on February 21st-23rd at the Anaheim Convention Center DreamHack Anaheim will be another massive festival in line with similar events held all over the world by DreamHack. More information can be found directly here: https://dreamhack.com/anaheim/
At DreamHack Anaheim I will once again be the volunteer team lead for Esports. While what my crew is eXactly doing is still to be determined, at DH:Dallas and DH:Atlanta we were involved in helping with a variety of tournaments and helping with the Chipotle Player Lounge. I will be recruiting volunteers to help with various tasks related to that team. Perks include a free ticket to the event that comes with a free byoc spot, some swag, and getting to work with some pretty cool people to pull off a pretty cool event. eXposure isn't worth much and there's not much to offer, but it does offer good networking possibilities if you are trying to get into esports as a career field.
Besides recruiting volunteers for DreamHack, I'm also looking to gather a squad of volunteers to help organize a Team Fortress 2 event at DH:Anaheim. Basically the BYOC area is very willing to work with us to put up whatever servers we need with more support based on how many players enter. I'd like to focus on the small number formats (1v1 Scout, 1v1 Solly, and Ultiduo) with arranged times for 6v6 pick up games.
While I'm taking a leadership role in regards to getting TF2 to happen at the various upcoming DreamHacks, I'll need people at the event who can focus on administrating it. I'm having discussions with various parties about the event already, but I thought I'd post here to publicize the process. The level of what we can achieve depends both on the numbers of attendees we can get, and the number of people willing to help organize the event in it's lead up. We could use a bit of help from online contributors and the goal is to build momentum towards other DreamHacks, so anyone interested in helping is welcome to apply even if you aren't planning on helping with the event.
Sound off in this thread if you're planning on attending. Please hit me up privately through discord if you want to help with efforts to organize a tournament - eXtine (HASH) 7214
Quick story time: I cast the CS:GO BYOC Grand Finals at DH:ATL. I was chatting with two guys that came in 4th place afterwards. They were asking how I got the chance to cast, I told em 10 years of TF2 casting and that I'd done the Top 10 plays of the month. They freaked out a lil, we grabbed a selfie and I recorded a voice message for one of the guy's younger brothers. They also enthusiastically told one of the BYOC leads: "oh my god, you guys should totally throw a TF2 tournament!" I wanna ramp things up towards Atlanta 2020 being a big deal, it starts with Anaheim. Let's do this.
TL:DR, DH:Anaheim would be even more awesome with some TF2, I'm looking for volunteers to help organize that.
(There will be a separate announcement once tournament details have been settled)
Hm, too bad but kinda understandable as there isn't the same niche for RGL in EU as there is in NA.
I'm sorta surprised overall that ProLander isn't catching on with the EU Highlander crowd, but some HL people in NA have told me they've drifted back to preferring HL over ProLander. *shrug*
ETFL2 Unrestricted 6s when? April Fools One Day Cup?
Yup, Dashner can fuck right off. He's continuing to be a manipulative piece of shit with how he phrased things about Ryan. A self confessed alcoholic tryna pin his drunk actions on the fact that he got Ryan drunk? Tryna somehow tie Ryan getting crossfaded at i65 into events that took place months ago? An important part of recovery is admitting and coming to terms with how your actions have harmed others. Dashner continues to not seriously pursue sobriety.
Notice how he's too much of a coward to sue DeXerto for defamation. He is just trying to salvage what he can of his esports career by trying to bully Ryan and Ness into shutting up. Ryan deleting his post isn't a retraction btw, it's just being smart about legal matters. Dashner is an idiot and his case will get fucked in discovery. If it gets to the character witness part, I'll pay for my own flight to call him a piece of shit to his face in a court room.
I'm not in town but this sounds awesome. Would love to cast these. TF2 money matches, LETS GO!
I feel like I should share some of my own eXperiences throughout the years with Dashner and take responsibility for my part in his rise in the scene. I'm busy today then flying to Atlanta, might be able to bust something out in the airports but the situation overall is still developing and news might necessitate delaying the "eXposition" article to cover other aspects of this scandal.
