The real irony here is this is the same exact rule/message that kept me and EG out of LAN that season

#4 TF2 lagging and freezing-stuttery issue in Q/A Help

a lot of freezing/stuttering winds up being from nonupdated drivers or antivirus, not your configs and shit.

obv a dumb config can screw you over but I think the way to go is to make sure your audio/network drivers are up to date and that youre not using an antivirus that is constantly scanning your game files while youre playing.

#1 TI5 Attendance Thread in Esports

Who's going/planning to go?

I just booked a 2 queen room at the Hampton Inn around the block from the arena for like 300$ a night Aug 3-8 so if youre interested in splitting costs and sleeping with an attractive puerto rican/italian male in a seattle hotel for 4 nights msg me.

but really, is anyone planning on going? I only made this thread because they announced the dates today and I wanted to book early so I don't have to pay $100 a night to sleep on extine's disgusting floor without a pillow or blanket again.

holla.

#24 eXtv-Vlog: The Future in TF2 General Discussion
eXtineHildrethRobin Walker wants to see some sort of pick/ban system implementated so that every match features unique and fresh strategies. How we implement that is up to us. I believe that the class ban system in A:R is a good way to do that. Maybe 6's with Open Whitelist + item bans is better, still to be determined.

AR is actually awful, and Robin isn't involved in TF2 anymore so I'm not sure where you're getting information from, or where that 4 yr old quote came from.

I've emailed him a bunch of times, he's responded, most of the time with 'im not doing tf2 anymore but ill fwd your stuff to the people who do'

i actually want sources above a pbl skill level that think AR is good, or that TF2 needs a pick/ban system. but since there are no sources or promotion of the gamemode other than yourself, its safe to say this is just a self promotional plug video

#2 OBS Crashing TF2 in Hardware

if youre using razer synapse you need to ctrl+alt+del, open task manager and end 'RzrStatsMnger' or something close to that.

Theres 2 programs that arent RzrSynapse, kill them, profit.

#46 stabby-stabby leaving TF2 in TF2 General Discussion
stabbyflameim actually really unsure of the 'cynical and hostile' comment.
....

But again a highlander spy main isn't the poster boy for competitive tf2, I just wish someone with such a deep pub following would get their facts straight before shaming this beautiful dysfunctional family we have here.
Speaking of getting your facts straight, when did I ever say anything at all about tf.tv? Dare I say you are being a little...cynical? Maybe even...a little hostile towards me? ;)

I'm not a part of this community and have no opinion of it, other than a rather sore awareness that I inevitably get down-fragged to oblivion and insulted no matter how helpful I try to be. Despite that, I think this place is very important to the competitive community, and I have a great appreciation for that. No hard feelings.

That was kind of my point though. Like you thinking I'm being hostile or cynical towards you is what the issue is right, like the people who have known me for 6 years would just be like 'thats just flame being flame'.

I don't have a problem with you or anyone in this community at all, I'm actually quite impressed by the fact you had a consistent following and were one of the few to succeed in streaming this game. I do have an issue on a bigger level though because you telling r/tf2 (an undeniably legitimately sized subreddit) that the tf2 community is cynical or hostile.

Regardless of how I present myself I'm just curious where those feelings came from and why you chose those words specifically. Regardless of whether you meant to or not, just typing stuff like that to a large audience puts a big dent in the work of people trying to actively recruit people to our scene (similar to how the melee/smash community did when their game was slowly declining) such as eXtv, comp.tf, and the twitch tf2 community in general.

im actually really unsure of the 'cynical and hostile' comment.

even the angriest, rantiest, outwardly rude people in the community are down to help. I don't wanna name names or look in the mirror but I actually have yet to see anyone I would consider 'toxic' by normal definitions when it comes to video games.

You can pretty much go to anybody in IM and above and have an intelligent conversation with them, with the exception of dingo's team.

TF2s toxicity comes from everyone having conflicting ideas on what is best for the community and it leading to arguments, but that toxicity is what drives people to make things better/fix them.

A lot of the people 'leaving' tf2 now more or less need to escape and now is very convenient. I'm not downplaying anything but I think Lange is too smart to be wasting his time trying to make it big with TF2 and he will surely find success elsewhere in his software path.

I dont agree with anyone's decision to go full time into TF2 but that's kind of the point right. This game was never a game you could commit 100% of your free time to. Hit the gym, finish school, get a career path going, and live life.

If you want examples of toxicity and cynicism you need to look at the big pictures. I had TheFragile tell me multiple times to not even show up to GXL because of all the shit I stirred with issues on the scheduling/event overall but he fucking manned up and the event was really successful, and at the end of the day there was no bad blood between us because we both knew we wanted what was seemingly 'best' for everyone.

Theres a difference between 'intense' and 'cynical' and that line needs to be drawn for some people before they start posting that this game is 'dead' or that the tf2 community is 'hostile'.

But again a highlander spy main isn't the poster boy for competitive tf2, I just wish someone with such a deep pub following would get their facts straight before shaming this beautiful dysfunctional family we have here.
