Just kidding
Another vote for sven-coop. Version 5 is coming up for steam and no dependency with HL1.
I got two candy canes. I hope they're peppermint :D
I have the Samson SR850, I used the stock ear pads for a year or so but these new ones are so much more comfortable.
Ultraz-snip-
Did you mount it directly on the glass?
UGC will care about UGC 6s, not for NA-TF2 6s. Same as how ESEA cares only about...ESEA.
You can take over admin positions on UGC but ultimately the league's interest is not to become just a stepping stone for ESEA's business. Even though that's what WE want and depict UGC as being.
NA-TF2 has for the entirety of it's 6s scene piggy backed off of leagues ran by other entities with of course their own interests. At this point, I know what I'm saying is fantasy and most likely not possible at all. But I believe the NA-TF2 6s community needs to start its OWN league with FULL control in the community's hands (*COUGH* ETF2L *COUGH*). From what I gather, ETF2L had it a bit easier because of their previous experience with other games (EQ3FL and EETFL). Anyways yes, it's a huge undertaking and ultra risky, and honestly I don't know what it takes to run a league.
Btw, there's one UGC admin for the entirety of its 6s div. He's ALSO running the 4s as well... Talk about being overworked.
_In_SanityAs much as you may disagree with some of the policies, decisions, and structures in place in UGC, you have to agree that right now it is the single best entry level league we have in north america. Lobbies, and ESEA Open simply don't cut it as an effective way to introduce someone to the competitive format. Talking about eliminating UGC, or even replacing it seem entirely counter productive. The league exists and it servers a valuable and needed function. Lets improve it, rather than starting over from scratch and further splintering our community.
I think everyone can agree that ESEA depends on UGC for its new player registrations. Are you suggesting we 'improve' UGC for it to become a better foundation for ESEA? If not to transform UGC into ESEA's bitch, then are we going to compete with ESEA by strengthening UGC? But NA-TF2 wont give up on ESEA because of a 'LAN' and exposure to the outside. Wouldn't it be UGC's GOAL to retain players inside its own league thus drying up the river to ESEA? Are there other options, I know the statements about UGC's interests are just pure speculation but I think we've seen what they've had to say from the ESEA<->UGC admin talks before.

" ESEA is the only way this game will see any kind of sustainable growth. We need new players to be interested in playing for ESEA "
You're not looking for 'new' players. ALL, EVERY, 100% of new player will go to UGC. The question I think y'all should be asking (since a new league is absurd*) is how we can make UGC -> ESEA worthwhile and cost effective.
I remember the discussions between ESEA and UGC admins, that did not go through. So as the 'ESEA' side of the North America 6s community what can we do?
Go to UGC players and tell them to pay up some money to play in Open where they're going to get wrecked by IM players in OPEN and invites 'offclassing', ahahhaa?
...maybe that's really not so bad...because we need more players for more divisions within ESEA.
Perhaps tell them that we need you to trust in ESEA because we have a rocky start to begin with and things will get better as more player fill the league? But it's a league that's not under our control, we can't really speak for ESEA's experience because it's ultimately theirs. What happened to IM and teams being cut from playoffs(?) because of FFWs?
So...what would you tell the UGC players?
A free league that isn't UGC which encompasses current ESEA and UGC 6s players. Competitive tf2 is dominated by young horny competitive boys, show them the road to go from DIV-6 to DIV-1 and some frag videos from DIV-1 players and hormones will do their things. Ok, I don't know if hormones will do it's things but I didn't need a CASH INCENTIVE to play this game and train daily.
As it is currently, the road from DIV-6 to DIV-1 goes through a toll (ESEA) that many don't want to pay. For these people, the road ends there. AFAIK, 'they' make up a larger portion of the 6s community than 'us'.
One side of me thinks that NA-TF2 could be better off dissolving both ESEA and UGC (err...rather competing against UGC 6s) then creating a unified league at the cost of a NA-LAN event. And the other side knows that NA-TF2 already had this discussion about sacrificing a LAN and a LAN event isn't going to be given up. Though I'm sided on the former.
The NA-TF2 LAN scene, this NOT a discussion I can hold as I barely have any knowledge of it. but...AFAIK, there are 2/3 LANs that TF2 people attend. Intel Extreme Masters (west), GXL (east), and ESEA* (central). All of which are spread across the country. I think having the unified league would in turn will increase exposure of LAN events to all 6s players with more relevancy than the current SPLIT 6s community.
We've already faced it; a ESEA<->UGC thing is NEVER going to happen. There's a LARGE pool of players that would be PROUD to say they play 6s TF2, yet 'they' are a community apart. This is concerning. TF.TV wants more players but new players NEVER start with 'us' in ESEA but ALL of them must go to UGC.
Honestly I don't know much of the 6s history. I only arrived here for seasons 14 and 15 and this is what I see as a spectator of this scene. I don't play this game, nor do I watch it regularly.
These 'red' areas are blocking exit paths and I could just bait people into spawn camping and write complaints all day.
they should make their own version of 2fort...
Before NA tf2 dies I'd like to know the stories behind these hated teams/players and what they've done. LAN news is nice, Frag videos are too but I like the shit talk fest and past drama.
Who's Ametrine and why does the video have so many dislikes and comments blocked?
Why?
What happened? This is like finding the ruins of an ancient civilization.
SPUF, -TRC-, then Axls Tf2. All of which have died or in the process of its slow and painful death.
Axls Tf2 got me into comp when we joined the ETF2L community Highlander Challenge. My team got to Round 4 where we were destroyed by Yz50, toilethumor, zigster, and others. The community had 3 full teams that got to rounds 5, 4, and 3. Two of our tems would eventually move right on to UGC plat highlander and get decimated by bfl/Desa.
I have some cheap mics from amazon..

People seem to hear me fine enough. Though I have it wrapped around a metal wire improvised to be a headset.
