#136 i52 LAN Fundraiser in News
KoC_jarmanaKoC_jarDo you provide the strange to be signed?
Because i was thinking of providing a strange to be signed.
Yes, that's the way it works.
Ok because (me being me) i was thinking of getting a cool/expensive strange to be signed. That being said i also do not want to "rob" the fundraising efforts by asking for a strange that is more expensive than the amount i donated.

Wait, sorry, to clarify, the donor is the one providing the weapon, not the fundraiser.

#7 Low Open (CEVO) team LF scout & backup med in Recruitment (looking for players)

Jag is a really nice guy and an incredibly talented player; he's had seasons and seasons of being a very, very good demo, and I don't doubt he can do the same on pocket. If you want to go far, Jag can definitely help. If his description fits you, take a shot at it.

#16 How do I cast? in Q/A Help
AndKennethIs there any particular reason why you couldn't put it up with an explanation mana? If you put it on github, someone might even come in and make the rest of the hud for you.

Then again, I think it's perfectly reasonable to keep your casting hud private because you want to have your own look. I *think that's the case for vanillaTV, as they have their logo strewn about it.

That's beyond me, I just know this is the normal explanation for not having it up.

#14 How do I cast? in Q/A Help
La_maisonPlease note that the official Vanillatf2 and Teamfortresstv casting huds are still private, for whatever reason.

Just noting that it's not private "for whatever reason", it's private because it's not meant for play, it's solely meant for casting, so that's the only part that's maintained.

#19 GitHub Repo for TF2's Base HUD in Customization
Hergan5Mana, you got someone who could tell you what files are not needed in HUD editing?
(I'm just asking, not that I know what files aren't needed)

I don't really understand what you mean? I'm putting in files that are helpful for HUD editors. I asked for suggestions because I'm a noob in HUDs and I'm only just getting into it.

#6 Scout lf movement in Mentoring

I can't help with specifics but if I wanted to study it in depth, I would download any STVs with enigma in it and just watch his POV. He's really well known for his scout movement.

#1 Rules and Recommendations for LFT threads in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hi, I decided to write this to not only outline the (few) exact rules upheld in this section as well as to try and help people write the best possible LFT threads they can.

RULES

  • Any threads that devolve into a witch-hunt, will very, very likely end up in a thread lock and possible thread nuke. This is, obviously, under admin discretion.

  • The rule of "Do not make personal attacks of any kind. Keep trash talk in the realm of TF2." is also highly enforced. This includes, but is not limited to, Facebook profile links, photos, addresses, etc. Please keep your posts related to TF2.

And now...

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Most of the population of TFTV is in 6s, and even then it's usually for ESEA and CEVO. If you're not looking to play in ESEA or CEVO 6s you're likely to get more tryouts in the respective league forums (presumably UGC, or ETF2L). However, there have been some threads looking in UGC that have been successful (at least as far as I can tell), so just be aware.

  • The biggest mistake I see is not being honest in stating what level you are. Try to state your level of competency the best you can. The reason for this is because the team you tryout for are going to know your real skill level when they play; lying about it only wastes tryout time of both parties.

  • Try not to be cocky in your thread (and just in general, IMO!). It will not be received well.

  • Try not to make too many threads or bump too often; this takes a little bit more tact, but a good rule of thumb is if your thread isn't on the first page, it's likely to be okay to bump. A good rule of thumb for making a new thread is if it has been "awhile" since your last thread. Unfortunately, it's harder to judge exactly when either of these things should be done, please use common sense the best you can.

  • I don't recommend linking to stats; stats are actually pretty unreliable most of the time because there's no context.

  • There is such a thing as a suspicious thread. As above, in the long run, it is far more beneficial that people who comment on your thread are honest. Being seen as disingenuous or a harmful manipulator, especially in a community of the size of competitive TF2, is definitely a huge deal.
This thread by vile is a very good read for making a thread.

If you need your thread title changed, FEEL FREE to message me with your link and new title; I'm more than happy to change it for you.

Hopefully this helps, and happy looking!

#30 HIGH OPEN TEAM LFP in Recruitment (looking for players)

I gotta agree with Jarrett; but to add on, it's far better to be honest about your level (sorry, I don't think you guys are high open yet) because when people come in to tryout they're going to know the truth no matter what. So you might as well cut out all the bullshit and lying and just get people who like your proposition. Trust me on this, after 4 seasons of Open, I've seen enough to know it's best to be completely honest on LFT/LFP threads.

I'm also personally suspicious of any threads that have ONLY good things said about them, especially if it's pretty bot-like; practically every player is going to have some kind of faults, most of all in Open (or their gamesense or DM or both will be at a certain level).

I also agree with SleepingLife; IMO you're gonna need at least one more scrim day to even think of being high open or playoffs by the end of the seasons, probably at least a minimum of 4 days.

That said, Velocity I've seen is pretty beastly. If you're a roamer you better know how to play with scouts.

#2 ESEA 1 week code in TF2 General Discussion

Classic ESEA premium timing.

Yeeegz is a real nice guy and talented scout (and even the other classes too); a demo review from him is well worth an ESEA code.
