#16 mechanical keyboard switches in Hardware
smakersmilehighmilitiaI have a keyboard with Browns which is supposed to get here tomorrow. After a lot of research i decided to go for browns because they have a lighter actuation force and what everyone describes as the "bump" similar to the blues without the high-pitched click that i was worried would annoy my roommate. Lots of people say the blues are not ideal because the reset point is higher than the actuation point which is weird for gaming. On the other hand if you are doing a lot of typing the blues seem to be the accepted standard for favorite typing switch. Honestly it seems to be personal preference though, and if you like your blacks i would wager that you would love reds as well.???

The reset point has to be higher than the actuation point. Otherwise, you'd have to push the key down to make it stop sending keystrokes....

Blues are just fine for gaming; they're just extra loud.

Blues may indeed be fine for gaming, and I am sure that many people here use them for this, including members of my team, however that does not mean that what I said was incorrect. If you look at the force diagrams for each switch, you will see that the blues are the only switch that do not reset at more or less the same point that they actuate. This essentially means that with blues you have to let the key come up higher before you will be able to register a new keystroke, whereas with the other keys they "turn off" at the same point that they "turn on" so they can theoretically be toggled easier.

Just compare the "Operating Point" to the "Reset Point" to know what i was referencing.

#57 Original our Regular in TF2 General Discussion

The argument that you should use the regular because u will always have it when steam servers go down is ridiculous. You dont use the shovel because its a safer bet in the case that steam servers go down, you use the equalizer. If you're playing with no steam servers you are going to have a lot bigger issues than not being used to the slight orientation change of your rocket launcher.

Personally i use the original since i started pocketing, since i could never get used to using the regular rl with no viewmodels and the original seems to make more sense to me without viemodels. On the other hand when i was roaming i almost always used the regular because it seemed that i was better at rocket jumping with it, as i had lots of practice using it.

#39 Running shotgun as roamer. in Q/A Help

i always preferred the gunboats when i was roaming. Even without the extra "deathmatch-ability" that a shotgun may offer you, gunboats can allow you to manipulate the fight in such a way that you would never have needed one in the first place. Now this takes practice but it has definitely been proven effective by roamers who are far better than i ever was.

#25 HUD_CombatText_Batching 1 in TF2 General Discussion

as far as i can tell the damage numbers on the hud do not change accordingly with this command, so this is fairly useless to me. :(

#6 FULLY CHARGED Discussion and Feedback Thread in TF2 General Discussion

i felt like having the extra panelist really didn't add anything. I definitely liked the new format though. It gives you and cbear the opportunity to drive the initial discussion and removes the possibility of having one of your guests drive the direction of the show.
