lucrativepeople just don't like the A/D game mode or you would see other A/D maps in the rotation im sure.
I agree here, but the solution is adding more good a/d maps to the rotation. If you had to play 2 or 3 a/d maps every season people would actually try to get good at them, and the strategies involved would probably be drastically different from what we're used to in 5cp tf2. But as it was, there was no incentive to get better at gravelpit.
You could have A/D dominant teams and 5cp dominant teams, sort of like how some teams are more dominant on koth than others are.
Tf2 is 8 years old now, putting an entire gamemode of tf2 proven to be reliably competitive back on the table might be exciting. Just in time for matchmaking.
I like the idea of a faster, time based a/d game-mode. Like 15 mins. If you enabled the quick fix it might get really exciting.
there were a few nice maps with dev textures only that i remember playing a long time ago. there was one called koth_idioteque with a floating platform? that one was so cool, I don't remember seeing it ever get out of infancy. in the inhouses i used to play a long time ago we'd kind of cycle through maps, so process/badlands was always first but those 4 hour weekend marathon pug seshs sometimes included other more interesting maps.
I'd like to see maps played at the very basic dev textures level and balanced for gameplay. really not sure why we don't pug maps from the beginning as they are developed rather than artpassing them before comp players even touch them. it's trivial in hammer to move a corridor if its all dev textures and simple geometry. maybe a few crucial props. maps with a lot of displacements are harder but even those can be tweaked.
also, i tried to make my own map once, got it into a barely playable form and did some pugs on it and it was pretty terrible. so props to map makers for sticking it out that shit is very hard to get right.
i'm typically the type of guy to vote for badlands or process 80% of the time but honestly kev your post has made me reconsider my position.

distractionliterally people are going to run dumb shit like vitasaw and 2 medic and 2 demo teams because it's retarded stuff that's restricted in comp because it works. you're going to find beggar's bazooka conch soldiers with shit-fix meds in 6s perpetually pushing and it's going to be cancer. we run cookie cutter classes because we're used to having literally everything but stock banned and that's what works with the bans but tf2 is broken there are so many ways to exploit it without weapon bans that work, especially if you're at a lower level.
I hope they do, that way valve devs will have an opportunity to balance their game.
Rather than introducing unlocks blindly making up stats for them, only to have them banned for eternity from comp after only tens of hours of gameplay.
If this isn't your viewpoint, or the majority viewpoint, competitive tf2 will die.
On the off chance you / any gamers are in San Diego there's one on craigslist for $190 right now:

I use ublock, but I don't feel good about it.
It's a war between advertisers and me. I want to support content creators by disabling ublock, but every time I do, I feel vaguely like my brain has been molested. Molested by ads. They're invasive and so distracting -- it's a conscious design choice by advertisers. Ublock stays on until advertisements get more tasteful.
It brings up some more broad feelings about the economy, too: the US savings rate is below 5%. We're entirely spent out. There's no pent-up demand waiting to be unlocked by advertising. Every dollar spent on advertising is a dollar wasted on re-shuffling pieces of our collective disposable income. It's not spent on R&D, not spent on wages, & not spent on actually improving any part of a product or service.
It's a big net loss on our economy.
This is a step in the right direction for YouTube though -- I would like to see a twitch.tv-esque sub button for each YouTube channel. Youtube can get some of my money that would typically go to ads, I could support a specific person I like on YouTube (rather than algorithmicly distributing my ad-view pennies to the 90% of YouTube that I don't care about).
That's it. I'm sick of all this "Vintage Eyelander" bullshit that's going on in the drop system right now. Half-Zatoichis deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that. I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a Genuine Half-Zatoichi in Steam for 50 dollars (that's about $50) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 updates now. I can even cut slabs of solid Heavy with my Half-Zatoichi. Community smiths spend years modeling a single Half-Zatoichi and texture it up to a million times to produce the finest items known to TF2kind. Half-Zatoichis are thrice as sharp as BLU swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything an Eyelander can cut through, a Half-Zatoichi can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a Half-Zatoichi could easily bisect a Demoknight wearing a Chargin' Targe with a simple vertical slash. Ever wonder why medieval BLU never bothered conquering RED? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Demoknights and their Half-Zatoichis of domination. Even in Dustbowl, BLU Soldiers targeted the Demomen with the Half-Zatoichis first because their killing power was feared and respected. So what am I saying? Half-Zatoichis are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the drop system.
mmrarktemy only complaint is that the website looks like it was abandoned in 1993
It's called "vapor wave" ya dingus

Put that in between your <style> tags in the header of each page. It'll make the site a lot more readable. All you really need, imo. Really cool site!
marmadukeGRYLLSi learned that my invite record is 9-50. i went 7-9 with madmen season 15 or w/e, so that's pretty depressing.

this guy is the most entertaining poster on tf tv
What you should do if you want your team to get better is recognize them and avoid them -- look for pony / "im not retarded im just acting retarded" themed avatars. if your team is bad enough maybe you could do a newbie mix or maybe we the community could start a team newbie mix w/ coaches for newbie sub open teams.
Glad that you like 6vs6. OP I have to let you in on a secret -- 6vs6 is the best & most fun form of tf2 possible.
I've been coaching a bit, it's a pretty good time. I haven't had a bad experience so far. I got a little burnt out on playing TF2 seriously, but it's nearly a different game when you're healing your team and they have NO idea how to play and you have to teach them.
