wall climbs are easier to learn on original but stock can propel you up a wall much more quickly when compared to the original during wall climbs. there are a number of other important facets to using stock when rocket jumping which give it a higher skill ceiling for speed and maneuverability.

Mojo_da_Kiddwolsnewell, I mean if you really think about it, nobody would ever do anything the slightest bit illegal because of these extreme repercussions.PainBringerHow is he not though? His people love him. He gets the job done and keeps the streets free from crime and drugs. Maybe we could learn a little something from him.The only people you hear from are the ones that he allows to talk. The death penalty is no way to handle petty crime and drug offenses. He's just a dictator.
this is actually what i thought in like 5th grade, then i learned about this crazy thing called "empathy"
unfortunately the original copy of this site is gone but its still on the wayback machine

i'd like to make the argument that attempting to make competitive tf2 resemble the pub experience is worthless and would hurt the competitive scene both in gameplay quality and in turnout. i mean just look at the stats, something like 25% of players are playing on 2fort and turbine at any given time. the average person who plays this game don't want a competitive, objective oriented, teamwork dependant experience. they want to wander around on a big empty map and spam binds in chat. if by some small miracle a player does want to take the next step into playing competitively, they are going to want a game that is as straightforward as possible. 6's is that - we play a minority of gamemodes, have simple rules, have a small banlist that most experienced pub players can understand immediately.
sigafoo format has a complicated decisionmaking process of picking and banning attached to it, meaning that getting into the format is initially much more difficult. you have to not only understand which weapons are more and less powerful on a grading scale, but also be able to strategically ban out your teams weaknesses while trying to save your teams strengths.
this isn't even to mention that 7v7 class limit one makes less sense to an experienced pubber than 6's class limits. everyone who plays the game for more than a handful of hours begins to understand that certain classes have strengths and weaknesses, and certain classes are better suited to certain jobs. its a fundamental part of the game. even if the pub players conception of these roles isn't entirely accurate, forcing people to play 7 of the 9 classes at any time doesn't make sense to an experienced pubber, because they can understand at the very minimum the class divisions that valve designated "wait, i have to play at least one defense class even when i'm on offense? why cant we just have another soldier?". this is worsened by the fact that you are less likely to be able to play the class that you want to in sigafoo format because of the larger number of players and more restrictive class limits.
the rules of the format are totally arbitrary, unlike the rules of 6's which have been tested and defined over years and years of testing, which is again why i say to sigafoo make your format a slight variation on existing 6's so that we can at the very least meaningfully test the changes that you would like to see instead
ScrambledThe transition between pubs and competitive in overwatch is virtually nonexistant though. High level gameplay in any esport will differ greatly from low level play. I'm talking about the format though. Going from only playing dustbowl and thundermountain pubs to playing a 6s lobby on process is a completely jarring experience in comparison to playing a pub in overwatch to the competitive mode.
is this an argument for sigafoo forrmat though? because sigafoo format is significantly MORE removed from pub play when compared to 6's just from the addition of a pick/ban phase.
RespectAPAFor something a little more relevant to the league, what’s up with the map pool? Right now, it consists of 4 PL, 3 KotH, and 1 A/D. Obviously missing from that is any 5CP maps at all… and why? The original Challenge Cup had several 5CP maps, so what happened that deemed them not worthy of playing? I seem to recall nobody having any serious problems from the spectator’s PoV, so did the people who played in the cup actually give feedback of it being worse than the other 3 gamemodes? It seems like a bad idea to throw away viable game modes when the objective of the league is to push a less “stale” meta.
[I personally enjoyed watching the 5CP more than I did the PL maps, anyway…]
he said in his post that when he reviewed the games afterwards the 5cp maps were "sluggish and didn't really play well"
literally everyone in my family is on there except me lmao, im a fuckin ghost
sigafoopost
look dude, i'm sympathetic to your thought process here, seriously. there are issues with 6's, there are issues with 5cp, it's not ideal that certain classes are run full time and it's an issue that the format hasn't been examined in any significant way in 6 years. however, the way you are attempting to tackle these issues is at best stubborn, and at worst an active detriment to competitive team fortress 2. you are intentionally working against the only section of the tf2 community that is actually attempting to discuss and solve the issues that 6's has. if you have spent more than a few weeks reading these forums, you will have seen the innumerable threads that we have detailing issues with the 5cp gamemode, issues with the whitelist, issues with a lack of diversity in class options, etc. (many of these being the same issues that you are attempting to solve with your format). you are throwing the last decade of attempts at progressing the format in the face of the community who has worked tirelessly to do so by introducing a completely new format that doesn't take any measured or thoughtful approaches to the issues that 6's has beyond "make it different". i probably ought to quote the post i made in the sigafoo cup thread, which is even more relevant at this point than it was then:
nitesigafoo, what you are trying to do with this tournament is run an experiment that only has variables. no (or very little) useful information will be gleaned because of the sheer amount of chaos presented from this ruleset. note that i dont mean the rules are inherently chaotic or bad, but that they are all new, people wont know how to best play around them and teams will be shaky.
what i strongly believe you should do instead is run a series of slightly smaller prize pool events with fewer new rules, so that you can really understand the impact of the new rule relative to the current 6's meta. have an event that only showcases payload, a/d, and new koth maps but with the existing 6's ruleset, then run an event that has the weapon pick and ban system in place, etc. etc. running the events like this would give you, the community, and valve a lot more concrete methodology and understanding of how these rules work.
in making this format, you are taunting the 6's community and producing no meaningful results, whether that is your intention or not. also, its worth pointing out that the 6's community is the only community which has been shown to have a sustained interest in supporting the game and leagues monetarily (as well as effectively being the only serious competitive community since highlander has essentially collapsed), so you are setting yourself up for failure by showing absolutely no willingness to work with the existing community
the lamps are bad and impede gameplay, and having 5 hiding spots stuck all over last is dumb as hell. you definitely did the right thing making them have no collisions
damn, what circlejerk hates you so much that every post in the thread has downvotes but one
my preferences were basically these, sorted by importance
-always kill the people in the car over a bystander
-always kill animals over people
-always kill lawbreakers over non lawbreakers
if none of those three variations were available i just picked randomly
it's not my definition, its just the definition of neofascist. like the actual, official, irrefutable definition.
