#44 Next Major Update Wishlist in TF2 General Discussion

please for the love of god when you release a functioning mm system don't use personal performance at all as part of the mmr calculation, blizzard have provided the perfect example of why in that other game we don't talk about here (sirlin explains the issues well).

the force variables are for laptop gamers whose tf2 doesn't recognise that they have dual graphics cards, it's a common thing people have been suggesting recently to fix the flame particles.

kmoo0105The DR is so bad and no one uses it. But if you use it, everyone will think you have actually died! It's a huge buff!

i like that you can actually outaim people in pyro duels now without having to sell your soul to the devil and spend 1000 hours learning where the fuck flame particles actually spawned. Now it's see person, click person, burn person. new weapons have potential, they're interesting mechanics, don't think they're implemented perfectly yet. Not a fan of the jetpack though, it's basically just turning pyro into a worse winston from ow, and that really doesn't add anything to this game.

The hud changes seem like they're at an intermediate stage; they might actually be leading to something good eventually but now everything's still worse than pre mym. contracts and cosmetics are irrelevant, i actually kinda like the reasoning behind maps they added though because they're all filled with close range areas, they definitely focused on making a pyro focused update. Unfortunately it makes them useless for proper play.

weapon rebalances were mostly things we've been asking for for years and they were done in pretty decent ways with a few potential exceptions. I think the gru changes are really good, glitches aside, because they force you to sacrifice total health pool for speed. If you wanna get to mid at the same time as everyone else, you're going to have about 150 health including overheal. Seems potentially balanced.

only thing I wanted was decent matchmaking though so r i p, gonna enjoy waiting another year and a half for that...

#6 Why did Valve nerf Ambassador so harshly? in TF2 General Discussion

because pubbers don't like getting punished for walking in straight lines

tbh it's better this way, don't need to treat a spy like a sniper in terms of sightlines and positioning etc

you want viewmodel_fov 0.1, that's the minimum now, 0 broke shit so valve locked it down.

#644 update is released in TF2 General Discussion
kawaIt's not fucking edgy to be disappointed by an update that took 18 months to release with about 3ish months worth of content from any mid-sized developer. You're a fucking moron if you think you can cry about your fanbase being disappointed when you're sitting there getting 90% of your new content by utilizing community maps and cosmetics, not even making them in house.

This but to be fair most of the stuff they did do was good. I think it's the first time I've ever looked at an update's patch notes and not immediately thought 'holy shit at least half of these changes are terrible'. They even ditched the amby rng idea they put out in the blogpost. Some of the new weapons are probably going to be aids but that's par for the course for pyro.

I'm still hella upset but even when I looked at the notes this morning I was pretty happy with what was with there. The only issue I have is what wasn't. These changes + matchmaking (and more balance changes in the same vein in the future) have the potential to revive tf2, it's just going to take another ten years at this rate by which point pc gaming will be dead and vr dota will kill the game instead.

damneasyLike the game might have 10 years old code in it, and fixing someone elses code is not very easy.

matchmaking is 18 month old code, that excuse is meaningless

you know what I wouldn't have been disappointed with? if they hadnt wasted time on stupid contracts or fucking fart taunts until matchmaking was fixed

#35 Are you happy with the pyro update changes? in TF2 General Discussion

I'm so so disappointed in this update. The balance changes were all pretty good but it doesn't matter if matchmaking is still an unusable pile of horseshit. I thought that 470 days would be long enough to get decent pyro changes, decent stat rebalances and decent matchmaking fixes so I thought it was 100% safe to be hyped but valve have outdone themselves.

That's it though so it looks like it fixed almost everything.

#41 how will the weapons in day 3 affect 6s? in TF2 General Discussion

whatever, it doesn't matter if it's the standard for the entire genre or not, tf2's been played in the 6v6 format for close to 9 years at this point, a random unlock isn't going to change that. Nor will a random engineer main who likes playing aids classes and wasting money, for that matter.

#2 PSA: Windows 10 raw input / mouse delay fix in Hardware

Pointing out that there were still reports of raw input issues on /r/globaloffensive with this version, just of a different kind. The update has fixed some problems and seems to have introduced or left others.
