#1295 Cheater/Hacker thread in TF2 General Discussion
dflameI mean sure we have no actual proof so I do apologize for being a retard but still 96% accuracy seems not legit to me. I'll watch the demos and report back to you guys (even tho these demos have already been reviewed)

Thank you. Also just to nitpick if by 'accuracy' you mean shots hit/shots fired then yuri's accuracy in the game in question was 80% as explained earlier.

#1293 Cheater/Hacker thread in TF2 General Discussion
dflameWe all know yuri hacked like it's completely obvious and if you are too stupid to realize that then I feel sorry for you. Stop defending your friend who is clearly a hacker and is lying to you.

Also can we just go back to this for a minute please.

"We all know yuri hacked" <--- stuff like this is a major issue. No dflame, you don't. Nor does anyone in this thread. Because there's no proof or actual evidence of anything fishy.

This thread has got a lot of real hackers banned, but you guys really need to look for more proof than a post with 10 upvotes saying 'XX is a dirty hacker'. A lot of people mentioned in this thread were obviously hacking but that doesn't mean that every person mentioned even hacks, let alone hacks to the point where it's "completely obvious and if you are too stupid to realize that then I feel sorry for you."

The second post in this entire thread raised a legitimate concern:

ManSkirtDude101I'm not sure if I like having a witch hunt thread....

55 downvotes later and you guys feel comfortable ignoring that, but I think you should try to keep it in mind in the future.

I think at a minimum before people make posts like dflame's you at least need to glance at some evidence, yknow? Because otherwise you're going to end up with egg on your face and people incorrectly accused are going to spend time banned unfairly. Hell, half the posts regarding yuri have at least indirectly insulted bdonski; "stop defending your friend who is clearly a hacker" etc etc. Do you really think he's never come across a hacker before? Do you think that he'd spout nonsense without actually looking at the available 'evidence'?

TL;DR downvotes are not proof or evidence

deetrnope did you go to the PoV of everybody she fired a shot at and check that their health went down, or did you just pause and see if her crosshair was on a player? If she were using silent aim then shots would hit that didn't appear to be on target

I checked health duh I'm not that retarded lol

It's easier than having to go to their pov though, as long as you have the advanced spectator hud enabled you can see everyone's health.

And I'll repeat what I said before when this was originally mentioned in the thread, there's nothing fishy in the stv at all. The only reason people would start thinking of hacks is because of the absurdly high accuracy percentage shown in the logs. But that's because they were essentially broken. I'm only surprised that more perfectly legitimate scouts haven't posted ridiculous accuracy percentages because of this issue. I guess because dealing chip damage to multiple people at once from far away is usually somewhat pointless.

^ funny because there's no hacks in the slightest lol as anyone who has gone through the stv can testify.

To save anyone the trouble of going through the stv and counting all the hits and misses, here's my data compared with the logs'. Note that in round 3 the logs think that Yuri actually missed minus eleven times which is obviously wrong.

You can see by comparing the 'total' columns that they don't quite match, that's because of two things, firstly I didn't count the shots fired after round end when I was manually counting up the real number of hits and misses, and secondly because I was doing it from an STV and it's actually quite hard to tell whether someone hit or missed a shot fired across the map. I spent quite a lot of time on it and went back over things I was unsure about but I still obviously missed a couple overall. In any case that won't really change the percentages much.

deetrnopedeetrCan you point me to the round with more shots hit than fired? As far as I can tell logs.tf doesn't keep track of hits/round.
Round 3, according to the log file there were 62 'shot_hit' listings but only 51 'shot_fired' ones.

I hadn't thought to look through the actual log file, thanks

No problem. To make things easier when I was going through it I split the file up into separate rounds, here's a link if you or anyone else wants to download it.

BdonskiThe 96% accuracy log as well as many others have been proven to be a result of faulty log recordings. This should have been incredibly obvious to anyone who actually watched the STV or looked at the logs files.

Specifically, every time a scout hits more than one player with one shot the log files register every pellet that hits a player as a separate 'shot_hit'. I went through the stv of the '96%' game and tallied up the real accuracy - it was 80%, not 96. One round there were actually more 'shot_hit' than 'shot_fired' commands -- if that had been the only round of the game yuri would have shown up as having >100% accuracy. That doesn't mean she's cheating, it just means the logs tally accuracy stats in a dumb way (and people in lobbies clump up stupidly).

#154 Why it’s time to say goodbye to TF2Center in TF2 General Discussion
spicoliim not defending masternoob but u guys throw the word fascist around like its going out of style, its a free video game website

Fascism is defined as "oppressive, dictatorial control" on thefreedictionary.com. It's a difficult word to define but some of this MN stuff is at least in the ballpark.

#147 Why it’s time to say goodbye to TF2Center in TF2 General Discussion
toothI don't want to get sucked in too deep in this argument but I have to point this out: Even if you all invest literally hundreds of hours into developing a TF2Center replacement, that doesn't solve the problem of having a customer base. I guarantee 95% of TF2Center players don't know of, don't care about, and/or are completely unaffected by all the issues listed off in this thread. These players have no reason to stop using TF2Center unless a significantly better service comes around to replace it. If you guys can manage to make a functional feature-rich competitor in less man hours than would be required to talk some sense into MasterNoob color me surprised.

Planning and creating a tf2center competitor will take time. In that time, the news of the mass exodus of the competent members of staff will spread, hell it's already popping up on forums that don't give a hoot about competitive. It will also allow for pretty powerful PR in the right hands when it finally does launch.

But the big thing that I think is going to happen is that the site will go downhill. It's already notably more fascist than previously and with the exodus of those who I assume had tried to keep a lid on it things will only get worse. People will get pissed as the mismanagement becomes more prevalent and affects a higher percentage of the playerbase.

Even if by some miracle that's not the case it's still pretty easy to beat tf2c's current feature set - namely by implementing skill balancing in all matches. "Advanced Lobbies" was always just a bunch of things that should have been implemented site-wide that MN thought he could put behind a paywall. It wouldn't even be difficult to just go through tf2playerrankings, that was the entire point of the site after all.

AvastEdit:
Also anyone with a simple grasp of economics and common sense can understand that scrapping a superbly well functioning/well known website that is the gateway to competitive tf2 over the grievances of an extreme minority of players without any sort of replacement ready is not very smart.

Hence why creating a replacement is being discussed...

#1 Invisible Players bind fixes in Q/A Help

Hi, so for a while I've been using 'record demo;stop' to fix the invisible players/visual glitches that turn up whenever I get lag spikes (very often). But that stops any demos I am recording and that's just all-round annoying. Recently I've tried using 'hud_reloadscheme;snd_restart' which only fixes the invisible players sometimes. I was wondering if anyone had a solution that didn't stop demo recording but actually works all the time? I vaguely remember seeing one at some point last year but I can't find it. Thanks.

CrickettermoCricketPipes arc is changed, they fall much faster to the ground. Same with stickies. I might have felt it with the crossbow aswell (not sure). Maybe all projectiles that isn´t rockets is affected like this? :(dont think so? felt normal to me

this is something at least, i'm sure they're aware of broken stickies by now and working to fix it :)

They fixed the arc on pipes and stickies in the small update after the big update :)

#11 comcast just enabled full ipv6? in Off Topic
NewbieMcNewbfaceBasically they went from 32-bit addresses to 128-bit addresses.

The number of ipv4 addresses is 2^32, or 4,294,967,296. They are written in a format such as xxx . xxx . xxx . xxx Depending on the class (A, B, C, D, E, although most people only dealt with the first 3), the ip address could be divided into a network portion and host portion. A company with a class A ip address block could theoretically have 16,777,216 addresses, while a company with a class B address block would only have 65,536.

IPV6 uses an xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx format. IPV6 has 2^128 addresses, with the IANA releasing 2^125 for public addressing use. So 42 undecillion out of 340 undecillion. 2^128 is 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456 or three hundred and forty undecillion, two hundred and eighty-two decillion, three hundred and sixty-six nonillion, nine hundred and twenty octillion, nine hundred and thirty-eight septillion, four hundred and sixty-three sextillion, four hundred and sixty-three quintillion, three hundred and seventy-four quadrillion, six hundred and seven trillion, four hundred and thirty-one billion, seven hundred and sixty-eight million, two hundred and eleven thousand, four hundred and fifty-six. It's going to be a while before we run out of IP addresses again.

I see lots of numbers but I don't know what they mean
