yaugIf I were to get a G400s, and the cord craps out, I can get a free replacement. However, if my replacement craps out, would I be eligible for another free replacement? I really loved the MX518 but I had 6 of them. They wouldn't let me replace after I already got a replacement so I always had to end up buying a new one. Is it different now? Please say yes because I have been using a spare kinzu for almost 2 years now and I hate this mouse.
I've personally owned at least 6 MX510/MX518/G400s over the years, and only bought two, the rest were all free replacements. I've had replacements on my replacements before even, thats never been an issue for me.
Looks sick, but I hate to say I hate the character design. Going from the over-the-topness of various Nintendo characters to just...people is honestly a downgrade. Even if they're different kinds of people, they're still just people. They need a roster of interesting, unique characters for me to really get behind it.
TuggerBecause its not important and Melee was the game played at Evo.
It might not be important, but its funny, and its also true. Mentioning it would have brought some more humorous lines from the interviewees, and I just don't like rewristing history in general because its embarrassing.
Kind of disappointed and amused in the last chapter, a little bit of fibbing going on that one of the youtube comments reminded me of. The EVO 2013 poll was not, in fact, won by Melee....it was won by My Little Pony: Fighting Is Magic. I shit you not, I remember that really well and how outrageous it was. In the end, FiM ended up bowing out because the game was still in Alpha and the devs didn't want an Alpha on the main stage of EVO, and it went to Melee by default.
Gee, I wonder why they completely skipped over that?
EDIT: I believe I got my facts mixed up. My mistake! Still pretty humorous.
And a second because tftv wasn't letting me put in two youtube embeds at once for some reason.
Some of the most beautiful music is some of the saddest.
So we don't have the same teams coming up every friday, maybe make each week different? Sometimes they'll be standard matches, but say every other week has a strange rule. Something like, No Stock Weapons, Full time sniper/spy, payload maps, etc etc. Not all at once obviously, but little rules every once in awhile to spice the game up, something you wouldn't see in every other stream, and streams going on durring the event. Not every top team can adapt to the changes in rules, so we won't see the same two teams every single week, which would make the event lose its appeal quickly.
trogI don't really understand what the difference is between a steam machine and buying a PC, putting SteamOS on it, and putting it in your living room. Are they planning on charging extra for the branding and putting the OS on it for you?
Not really sure how this is exciting for people who know how to install an OS.
They're not charging anything at all for branding. SteamOS is Linux based, its free and open-source. A PC with SteamOS should in fact be 100 dollars cheaper or so, seeing as there's no Windows license.
KanecoJust wonder how expensive the titan steam boxes will be.
There are no real "titan steam boxes" in a console sense, more like a "Titan PC" thats a PC that happens to have a Titan in it....which is exactly what it is. As I put down in le reddit:
IMPORTANT NOTE: These are PROTOTYPES made for TESTING. A lot of people seem to forget that, and see an nVidia Titan as a sign that all Steam Machines will be over a thousand dollars. These machines for for a controlled testing of SteamOS and how it plays with different levels of hardware. There WILL be low-cost Steam Machines, and don't forget you could simply load SteamOS onto your own PC to make it a Steam Machine as well, or build one on your own budget.
ANY PC running SteamOS will be a Steam Machine.
ErenJayreillyNo linux distro should anywhere near 8gb.Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD
I've only quickly read what an SSHD is, but from what I've read is that it self-determines the most important bytes to store on the "SSD" portion of it.
If that's right, then installing Windows should be no problem, despite being larger than 8GB (I think every Linux distro would be larger than that too actually)?
Just looking through my OS folder
Puppy Linux 5.7.1: 156.1MB
ArchBang 2013.09.01: 440MB
Ubuntu 13.04: 823.1MB
Linux Mint 15 (Cinnamon): 959.4MB
OpenSUSE 12.3: 4.7GB - Biggest I have saved
Looking over some of the sizes of the distros I have downloaded, I'm wondering what size SteamOS will be and, with that, what kind of features it will have. Will it have a window manager/desktop environment under Big Picture, or will Big Picture be the only UI? How easy will it be to access the terminal? I've been pondering this since the announcement...if its Ubuntu based, it should be fairly simple to apt-get a proper DE like Cinnamon or whatever interface you like to it.
And boy will I. Glorious PC gaming master race using SteamOS with a proper desktop UI, can't wait.
reillyI installed Ubuntu on a memory stick, and it took up 11GB. Did I do something wrong, or is there something else?
You likely installed it with "persistence", as in, gave the stick extra space to save things on like a hard drive, so a session could be carried from one PC to another.
Rebumpin', still looking, having the no team blues.

I think the silliest thing people can say to try to talk down on HL is "its an organized pub", because these people seem to forget that TF2 was, from its very beginnings, designed to be a pub game.
I never got into 6s because I could never get into any comp modes that required banning huge parts of the game, including maps, weapons, and classes. I suppose I'm weird in how I love all of TF2, all game modes, classes, and unlocks. I feel like a lot of people here don't actually like TF2, they like 6v6, and they keep those ideas very separate.
tl;dr: People who like all of TF2 like HL because its all of TF2.
As someone whos switched to Linux more or less full time, I wonder how SteamOS would work as a standard PC OS, when you disable big picture? It will likely be Ubuntu or some flavor there of running under it, I wonder if SteamOS will ship with DEs besides the Big Picture overlay?
