hey mastercoms! two questions

do you know any commands that would improve visibility through pyro flames? i literally can't see anything if a pyro sprays in front of me rn.

also is there any way for boosting the brightness of players in dark areas (i.e. under badlands mid in that corner of the bridge) or should i just up my monitorgamma

edit: should note i'm using the standard launch options + comp config

I think he means parkinson's flamethrower, which still exists.

Edit: Also, I think tf_flamethrower_boxsize should be changed to 1 imo, only to make the weapon harder to use so you can't just mongo and shred everything. I tried testing tf_flamethrower_boxsize 0, but it's like super inconsistent for no reason? 1 seems like a better choice. Default boxsize is 12, for reference and the hitbox is fucking ginormous.

- Updated cp_badlands
- Disabled collision on a bunch of props (mainly lights/lamps)
- Reduced attackers' spawn advantage by 1 second when working on final control point
- Upgraded the small ammo pack to medium in the yard (on the porch)

it's hard to tell right now because like it demonstrates in the video vipa linked flames are retarded but all i really want is some goddamn skill indexing in this class. There's a problem when random pyro publords have like the same dm as most plat pyros because hardly any mechanical skill is needed.

airblast stunlock being gone is a good thing, new airblast that makes the floor an ice rink is pretty dumb.

good direction by valve, questionable execution.

also i wish dragon's fury either had much more range or like no range cap at all with the tradeoff of no afterburn after a certain distance, so you can't just combo snipe somebody from a distance with no falloff. it's super unsatisfying to use when a scout just holds the s key and the projectile fizzles out of existence in front of his face(damage and fire rate could be changed as compensation for this if it's really needed, I'm not great with numbers). Hitbox is also the size of a barn it could use some toning down.

yes i know u can record a demo but i think it's pretty reasonable to expect that that major of a glitch doesn't exist

The only update they've ever reverted was the first sticky nerf right? Seriously hope they don't go down the Blizzard route where they have so much pride they leave shit that's completely aids in the game.

Also I think new update makes pyro less gay to play against (big plus) but also reduces his skill ceiling a lot because flames are now so good and they're stupidly easy to aim. Less aids to play against than stunlock combos but man this class still takes little to no mechanical skill it's kinda sad :(

Edit: For context I don't think I can remember a single memorable reflect kill/flamethrower kill. Winning shotty 1v1's versus buffed scouts I remember, and having massive brain plays as a result of good positioning I remember, but actual displays of mechanical skill that are specific to only the pyro class, practically none.

On that note remove grenade launcher spin/drag/whatever it is that makes it feel so much more..inconsistent? than the iron bomber.

Also make no damage spread apply to fall damage right now there's a 20% random variation on fall damage because apparently the no damage spread cvar doesn't apply to environmental damage (ty to DarkNecrid for details)

wtzspringrollsIMO there are only 3 pre pyro update weps that really need to be reconsidered: natascha, machina, and cow mangler. Banners I was iffy about in the preseason but it didnt look like a problem really in EU, although someone with more experience feel free to correct me.banners are fine and anyone who says otherwise is a filthy scout main
machina is ok idk why people hate it

its rather polarizing in the svs matchup, obviously not as bad as darwins pre nerf but enough that hl snipers felt that they had to switch to the wep as well (like the dds)

other reasons include lack of neglible downsides (tracers are lol and quickscopes are pretty much as good as noscopes, plus the bonus fact that you might hit a headshot on accident), encouraging lower skill plays through increased bodyshot damage(that one taps scouts unless theyre 100% on the beam, also shits on demos)

also penetration is dumb and ruins my 1 million iq medic bodyblock plays :(
