I did a second major in music in college and I swear every course had to start with this "what is music" discussion, which is pointless imo because the difference between noise and music is totally subjective.

I WANT to say that none of the sounds or the parts of the Grateful Dead song that I listened to are music, but that is because I don't like them. I prefer my music to have the tones, chord progressions, pitches, rhythms, etc. from traditional Western music that I am used to, otherwise it is difficult for me to enjoy or find meaning/expression in it. But just because I don't like/understand them, doesn't mean that they're not music... So I guess I would conclude that they are all music because they are all sounds, and all sounds could be considered music.

How many different lobby websites are being worked on now? Wouldn't it be a lot more effective if they all just worked on a single site? Even if all the separate sites are actually completed at some point, the community will probably just gravitate towards one and the others will be kind of useless.

Because usually no one wants to medic or captain and you end up with 20 people added, all waiting for someone else to go medic/captain. Sometimes having more choices in terms of picking teammates results in better/more even teams. And a lot of times being fatkidded means people don't know you or you're not part of the circlejerk, not that you're bad necessarily.

Every other game on tf2mix is limited to 12 though.

I'd like to play medic with an Open team. I'd prefer a team that is mid to high Open skillwise, but really I just want to play with people who are mature, have a positive attitude, and want to improve.

I've played a season of Open (kind of) and scrimmed regularly for longer than that. I haven't played on a team in a while, and have mostly just been watching streams/casts/stvs recently, so I think that while I have a very good understanding of the game it doesn't always come through in my playing due to lack of playtime/experience. But I think that would improve quickly with the right team. :)

The key is probably going to be worth more than anything you'll get out of the crate (other than the 1% chance of getting an unusual).

It runs an ad when you first open the stream. I don't mind enabling ads to support streamers, but it gets kind of annoying when I end up having to watch the ad multiple times because of refreshing or changing size/resolution.

6v6 teams usually consist of 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, a demo, and a medic. Pyro isn't generally used as a main class, it's more situational.

If I remember correctly, you can abuse interp to make people stand still for a short period of time. I don't know of anyone who actually uses that but I would hope that servers block it.

Why buy an expensive laptop? You can build a better desktop for the same price and have something much more enjoyable to play on. You can get a cheap laptop/tablet/netbook too if you really need something portable...my $300 laptop can run TF2.

It seems like everyone started streaming when they wanted donations for LAN, and now that there isn't an immediate need for donations very few invite players continue to stream scrims.

If I'm going to spend my evening watching TF2 streams, I want to watch people who are actually good. Invite pugs aren't the same either. :(
