dashner, I actually did that with a group for a while as well. I lived in Black Lake for months, only periodically coming down to rescue other group members that were injured at the airfield or at BZ, or to use my CZ-550 to save them from bandits. They started calling me Jeremiah Johnson.
Seriously, the best part of DayZ is roaming the countryside between cities with a couple of friends, talking about life, love, drinking stories, etc.
Whenever I hear people complain about the fact that it can take 10-20 minutes of walking through a forest before hitting another point of interest, and I'm thinking, "That's one of the best parts of this game! Why are you playing alone??".
I liked the video a lot, probably would have liked it more if it had clocked in at ~2 minutes, considering the single person focus of the video. Your editing skills are very good though, would love to see more stuff from you.
I knew it! Shade is actually William Shatner.
I really thought that there was no one with a computer that didn't own L4D2. The opening cinematic is worth $20 alone.
The fact that I can make myself look like "Man" from The Road makes this game completely worth it in my eyes.
The ladders work as others have said, and then when there are tournaments and things like that, the ladder placement can help with seeding the tournaments. So think of it as one indefinitely lasting season with periodic tournaments as little exclamation marks.
I've been playing since the first test, really glad to see it finally be released! Hoping to see some of you guys around
"360 girder transfer, no guidelines"
"6 tons of cement in under 48 hours, BAN THIS SICK FILTH"
"M-M-M-M-M-M-M-MEGA TRANSIT"
Is there a reason that we aren't leasing out "billboard" space inside of the maps themselves on match servers? It seems like a fairly easy cosmetic to add into things, and could be an awesome way to add to prize pots/transportation costs.
I know some players would be upset about having things like that in-game, but as long as there are standards put in place for the ads, I think it'd work fine.
Awesome, I've added you! One note, this week one of our scouts has been begging for a review, so if there are any scouts that'd be willing to make an appearance this week, that'd be amazing.
We will be entering Open this coming season (in whichever league ends up being "Open" for the next season). We are using our off-season to get ourselves up to speed and ready for the big leagues.
In addition to our scrims, we have Thursdays from 5pm PST until 6:20pm PST set aside for team mentoring sessions. We bring in mentors to review STVs and specific POVs, and we are also open to alternative forms of mentoring as well. The focus can range from team push/hold dynamics to the fundamentals of shotgun usage for a pocket soldier, or how to properly initiate a fight as roamer.
If you have team-based insights to share, or class specific insights to share, and can be available on Thursdays at that time, please add me! Our team is really low-drama, and very receptive to advice.
tranchemusicThere had damn well better be water in my glass (which I will ignore) or I will do terribly
Goddamn I've ended up with so many glasses of flat, luke-warm soda on match nights.
Also, washing my hands with hot water helps take some of the edge off before I play. I also get amazing DM when I'm drunk, but I couldn't rocket jump my way out of a plastic bag, so unfortunately I have to put my drunken master abilities on hold for match nights.
Well that video was better than the match could ever hope to be. Good job, Ggglygy.
