#1 voting 2012 in Off Topic

Voting for the first time this year, laughing at this LA County measure:
http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Los_Angeles_Porn_Actors_Required_to_Wear_Condoms_Act,_Measure_B_%28November_2012%29

Anyways, post/discuss random propositions/measures your country or state might have. Rather avoid talking about the election here because it almost always ends up being a circlejerk.

#10 My Comp is p bad in Hardware

I don't get how all these people can call their computers bad when they're desktops made in the last 4 years. There are so many people on subpar laptops and computers that were made before TF2 even came out. Most people have upgraded, but honestly I upgraded from a single core athlon and a 9800 GS to a phenom ii and radeon 4850, which is way worse than either of your computers.

#21 you know what really grinds my gears in TF2 General Discussion

Never got why people have to wait for a response before stating stuff. Most people I know type everything regardless of a response. Get better friends/acquaintances.

I wonder if the estimated damage is going to be more than Katrina because of its reach.

#5 Interesting Stats in TF2 General Discussion

#4 I think it's barely starting to touch the numbers in dota in China or something. Still far away from LoL I'd bet.

#26 $15 Windows 8 in Off Topic

Most windows 7's in computer labs at schools and work run Windows 7 Enterprise and don't use a CD-Key but a license server (basically you connect your network to a license server, and then every so often it checks if the license is valid or else it makes a countdown until invalidated).

#1 Interesting Stats in TF2 General Discussion

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ (lol steam is down though)
Haven't looked at steam player stats in a while, but DOTA2 and TF2 are the biggest ones (F2P and Halloween events). 1.6 is about source and CS:GO combined, which is kinda surprising to me (1.6 is the best though). NS2 is starting out at only around 5-6k but could rise. Just random thoughts here about stats.

It seems all across the board them number of players has been increasing, which is good. Ironically steam store is down for me right now so the link isn't working. Think TF2 is going to the grow the most? Stay top past the weekend? I haven't tracked the stats recently, but I know TF2 was slowly closing in on one of the CSs months ago.

If you don't have people with the bomb killing him ASAP, it's really easy to lose. Also most people rather kill each other anyways.

#7 NS2 Live in Off Topic

Too hard to tell if it's fun when you spike around on because someone bought too weak of a server and then trying to get the proper sensitivity. It looks promising though if you have an amazing comp and the server doesn't crash.

EDIT: I actually get more like 30 FPS.

phenom ii x3 720 OC to 3.4 GHz + 4850 radeon (barely overclocked).

I get 50 FPS, but it's ridiculously annoying to change your sensitivity without console. Games crash all the time though (or it seems like it).

#2 Mumble server subdomain help. in Off Topic

Wait, are you trying to make it so that you can't connect via IP and it forces you to use a subdomain? You can't really stop people from using an IP, because in the end the computer uses an IP address to find the server location.

DNS basically is a database that translates a domain into an IP address. You can't do it the other way around. You can assign a subdomain to point to a different IP though.

If you want to make a subdomain point to an IP, you have to edit your DNS server settings. Varies depending on the vendor like godaddy (either way you're going through a domain vendor). Never actually dealt with it myself though.

I never got the whole "I killed/dominated someone in invite it's so funny I need to brag" thing.

Wow that sucks. California weather is really one of the best in the world. Rather have max 8.0 earthquakes than flooded shit like that. Power loss makes it even worse.
