slamBergalfaYes please try to go back to CEVO and boycott ESEA, that worked really well last time. Btw your "high level" died quite some time ago if that wasn't obvious.

I miss when alfa played

I won ETS does that count? But thank you for comparing me to the best player in TF2, see at least I don't deny actual achievements and skill level with personal attacks like previous posts. While b4nny is hillarious to me, he is still the best TF2 player to have ever played the game and no matter how much anyone hates him they can't deny that. Same way, I can't take personal attacks any serious or IM players who post stats of 1 match, when I placed top 4 on every class in the game.

You can talk shit on my CSGO skill tho, I'm like C+/B- in pugs and can't climb up.

I don't really care much for what people consider the highest level of comp as compared to past seasons, that discussion doesn't mean anything. Old players left and very few newer players / teams have worked to fill the void.

The last time we have had an invite division with more than 2 Championship caliber teams was back in Season 20. Ever since then it has been a 2 horse show between the same teams and players. Maybe that is why the newer players lost motivation, who knows.

The only thing we should be striving for is competitive matches in our invite division. There are so many players from low invite to high/mid IM that are honestly on or near the same level of skill. These players and teams stepping up to invite and having competitive matches with their peers is all the division really needs to continue.

Winning against the top 2 remaining "high invite" caliber teams will probably not happen often. However, if the invite division has 9 teams, it would mean 6 or 7 teams being close in skill level and therefore 12-14 competitive matches per season. That isn't a waste of time in my opinion but I can't speak for everyone's motivation for playing the game. In a purely competitive sense, it seems like fine situation.

Man I just don't want to see high level tf2 die.

It's hands down one of the most unique competitive shooters out there. It has so many awesome possibilities and so many awesome, passionate, people involved in making it happen on a competitive level. I think there's a lot of people who want to see this game succeed. Like holy fuck even people who have left the community for other esports opportunities or to engage in the real world want to see the game succeed.

I always feel like we as a community are on the verge of our next big break. Every single season I look forward to, excited to see the rosters of old teams and new teams battle it out. Every season I'm amazed by the commitment some people have to this game, dedicating so much time and energy into becoming better players. I always hope this is going to be the competitive season and sometimes we get one, it might not be amazingly competitive sometimes, but look at last seasons finals, they were a nail bitter, it wasn't just a roll over and die match. I hope to see that level of competitive, that level of fight again and again every season.

There's so much variation in the format as well, just so many different things that you can do in a match to win or just casually to improve. Every off class is exciting and every weapon switch makes me wonder what's the plan, what's going to happen next? Sometimes it's just players fucking around and that's ok, one of the wonderful things about team fortress is that you can still succeed even if you do some light hearted things or goofy strats. I can't help but love every single match I watch and every match I play. I don't think I've ever seen the same match twice where the same plays were pulled and every match I personally play has so much variety and flavor I always crave for some more.

I don't know if this is the thread to post this whole ode to competitive tf2 to be honest but right now as the future of esea looks uncertain and the future of the i series event looks uncertain I can still hope that everything works out and we pull through again. It's stupid how much I love this game, and how much of an impact this game has had on my life but it's changed me for the better. It taught me so much about how to lead and how to be a nicer person, a friendlier person. It introduced me to some of my best friends and it helped me when I was in the deepest part of my depression.

There's so much potential in this community game and it shouldn't just end and go to waste now, we're a unique breed and there will never be a game quite like tf2 again, not one with the same level of community and customization and flavorful arena style game play. The future may not be the best in some respects, but this game is still unique and wonderful and I believe that there is even more left for this community and game to do and I have faith that the competitive scene will not die and we will be able to keep playing this game we love no matter what.

End of rant/thoughts/shitspewing

Since when has the majority of TF2 players played because of money? I definitely don't want ESEA to die, but marking TF2's survival on the downfall of ESEA doesn't seem realistic to me. The majority of players play because its fun. Being good at the game and improving is fun. Playing with teammates is fun. Obviously some people will leave if ESEA dies, especially at the top level, but I feel like more people would still play than people are expecting. ESEA isn't the only league where people can play at a high level. we may not have that league now but I doubt that we wouldn't form one(or make existing ones better) even if ESEA did drop TF2.

Just make a seperate league for both EVL and FROYO to play in with each other.

I haven't played that game in 6 months nor do I care to make it big in there, OWL will probably flop honestly. Only people who even make any profit are Envy/Rogue.

I mean you could read the entire post before taking half a line out of context but the reading comprehension isn't too high on these forums as proven on the first page. Hint: I replied to someone, not making a general statement about everything.

-Phantom-I'm just wondering, has esea been this close to having issues in previous seasons and we pulled through or is this the worst it's ever been?

The last two seasons, Invite struggled to find enough teams and has only had eight teams (compared to nine). We used to have nine teams since forever ago. IM has always struggled to get sufficient teams, and Open has not had consistently good numbers since like S15.

I really, really, really want to know what's eating up valve's time. I would have known, if they had ever made that what we're up to blogpost. Of course, they didn't. Their community is unarguably suffering from their absence, the relevancy of competitive itself has teetered on eggshells for years, and even now we have no clue if there's even any future to hold out for.

By definition the "high level" is invite and prem in NA and EU respectively lol. Just because it may not be as high as it was (based on your subjective opinion) doesn't mean its not the high level anymore you tit. It is still THE HIGHEST level you can achieve in TF2. Considering they both still exist... they haven't died have they?:))

Furthermore you say "Yes please try to go back to CEVO and boycott ESEA, that worked really well last time." Suggesting that we shouldnt do that because it wont work and will kill the game; If you dont care then why the fuck are you giving your thoughts on the matter?

Starry_NebulaeIf ESEA merges divisions would it be good or bad in the end?

Should we try to go back to something like CEVO?

Or should we hope that faceit/ Valve matchmaking fixes things right.

The future really is uncertain especially since this situation is happening in the summer and almost a year after the release of official matchmaking .

ill answer your questions very easily:

If esea merges divisions it won't matter. B4nny team and one other team are clear top 2 and roll thru invite every season.
CEVO split started the decline of tf2 especially in esea.
VALVE DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THIS GAME. This game was a mere puppet to test stuff for csgo/dota2

I don't know what I was expecting from this thread but an alfa broking war of words certainly wasn't one of them. Aside from that, if there is a solution to get tf2 to grow a bit and show a bit more life I'm not sure what it is. I really don't want to see a competitive scene I've been following/playing in for 3-4 years to die, but the way things have been going just seem to point to a continual slow decline. I'd love nothing more than to be wrong, however.

i can certainly tell you the tf2 team cares about tf2. you have to understand we are not the majority of the tf2 playerbase. the people who make up the actual tf2 community are people who play pubs and never had a competitive thought in their life. they have to come first, valve is a business, why would they allow their employees to dump money in their own individual passion (ex esports).
the team is passionate about tf2, but you cant expect someone to risk getting fired to please a couple (hundred? thousand?) people
