Out of curiosity, do you recommend keeping the same interp for all classes? I know in old fps configs it was recommended that you have different interps for projectiles/hitscan classes but you don't seem to indicate if that was still the case or not.

Yeah, the interp in my config is low enough for it to be good for projectile classes while still being reliable enough for hitscan.
whitepuzzlemastercomsHow many times did you run the benchmark? And in what order?
3 times with addon then 3 times without
I think restarting the game in between with the addon and without would get rid of any performance boosts from caching.

So what's up with cl_pred_optimize exactly? I see you've set it to '0' on this one due to a bug with '2'?
I'd also be curious where the '0.02273' value for cl_interp is coming from

It just reuses prediction data from the previous frame that can be slightly off for the server.
That value comes from 1.5 / 66. This is so that you aren't always relying on one snapshot to make it to your client on time.

Hey, so I have used your config and ever since, my TF2 launches up then goes black. Then crashes. I have tried to verify the integrity, that does not work, I have also uninstalled and deleted your config, and that did not work, went back to my old config that I used that did not work. I have copied all the instructions on how to install the config, but it has resulted in my game crashing. Please tell me how to approach this issue.

I created an account here only to confirm that I'm also having this problem right now. The game starts, loads, and when it's about to go to the menu screen, it crashes with no error message whatsoever.
What fixed it for me was just getting rid of mastercomfig. Really sucks though, because I loved using this config! Is it something on my end? What can I do about it?
EDIT: Apparently, installing the .vpk file (for mastercomfig default) instead of using the .cfg files fixed the problem, at least for now.

I have a laptop which cannot meet the default fps cap of 300. Do you recommend having a constant fps of e.g. 67 or it's better to be the default 300?

if you have a laptop its probably better to have a low cap like 125 or less to avoid overheating.
if your framerate is SUPERLOW maybe you find it more comfortable to have a lower cap so that it doesnt fluctuate so much and you dont notice the drops.
if your framerate drops under 66fps often you should lower the cmdrate to lower than 66

Not reaching the FPS cap is fine. That's just there as an upper bound to prevent some possible glitches with an unlimited FPS cap.
Having a lower FPS cap is personal preference, like if you want a stable framerate or want to prevent overheating, as sage mentioned.

I can't think of anything useful besides snd_async_minsize

hey there, can you explain what is net_maxroutable x;net_maxfragments x for and how to choose your value?
Rotten_Mindhey there, can you explain what is net_maxroutable x;net_maxfragments x for and how to choose your value?
This is the maximum size a packet can be before it gets split up into smaller pieces. The default in the config should be fine and the most reliable for most users.
You'll probably need the lower value if you have a lowend router/network or WiFi that can't handle the larger packets and is thus losing them. However, keep in mind that on lossy WiFi connections, the increased split packets from the lower value might worsen the effects of packet loss if it's just a signal issue.
The larger value is to slightly reduce the amount of packets that need to be sent, for weaker CPUs that will largely benefit from less split packets. Also it can be used if you're absolutely certain everything on your route can handle the larger size.

6.4.0 released with networking improvements, performance optimizations and documentation updates
I updated to 6.4.0 version with max performance and badcpu addon and I'm no longer getting any ingame sound. Would like to revert or change whatever I did in the update. Thanks in advance.
fizzwhizmastercoms, from where did you get the TF2 source code to study?
does not seem like something they would be allowed to answer.

Any in-game sound? Only impact sounds and footsteps should have been removed.
What's your CPU?

Installed this new version a few hours ago: tf2 kept crushing instantly for an hour until i commented some commands and now everytime i launch the game it takes ages and everytime a loadingscreen occurs i get black stutters all over the screen... (i use the maxfps tweak and dxlevel 95 and im playing on a laptop). All the other instances of this cfg have been running really smootly on my pc....

I've experienced some kind of crashes on startup using 6.3.0 version. It turned out that texture_preload_list.txt/glbaseshaders.cfg/dxsupport_override.cfg files (or one of them, i didn't test it out honestly) in my custom folder cause the problem.
