recently I stumbled upon a question, why is arekk considered so good? What makes him that? Like what is the difference between him and the other invites? I remember botmode said hes better than slemnish.
and he did all that while playing only scrims and matches. Bro consistently had like 9 hours past 2 weeks. Imo speaks volumes for his talent on flank scout
he did all this while studying to become an ophthalmologist, which is super impressive as well
maybe the consistently best positioned player of all time. cant think of a player who accomplished more, both passively and aggressively, by just being in the best possible location doing the right thing all of the time. maybe blaze is the closest comparison in my mind

another 9hr/2weeks player IIRC

all u have to do is watch any random demo of his to get a masterclass in vision and positioning. he sees everything

yeah serious answer: playing flank scout on froyo was very demanding, with habib and b4nny both needing a lot of beam, and the fact that they didn't just mindlessly sac both soldiers very often to make free space. arekk had to balance out times where he basically had to take 0 heals with times while still being available to come over and play pocket scout at any moment, and he always balanced it well. he was really disciplined while still having impact. playing vs froyo in that era, every mid fight was like a slog where both teams lost players, but they always had 2 scouts alive at the end and just grinded it out.
also really good scout 1v1s, generally a flank warrior, good comms, good synergy with blaze, etc. etc.
his best season to me was the final esea season where he was probably froyo's best player, I think he got underrated for a while after that because he wasn't trying as hard (even by arekk standards) in some of the rgl seasons. when he was motivated he was pretty faultless though.

Mustard, can I request ur thoughts on all of the froyotech scouts and what sets them apart from one another? Idk how much you keep up with the scene these days but I've always thought you were great at analyzing the habits of other players.
A lot of people look at a flank scout stat and go "wow 190 dpm so bad xD" like they're a brainless HLTV player, but that's not now TF2 (or any game) works. Arekk was reliable to always make the correct play, always be in position, always fill his role. He'd always be a fucking nuisance behind and threatening backcaps. His communication was goated and he always brought positivity to the team atmosphere. If you look at his damage given versus taken, he would have like no spam eaten ever. His movement was just really good. He wasn't as flashy as other scouts, but he was easily the best role player, even if you didn't consider him a star (even though he had seasons where he looked like Froyo's best player).
Also his YT channel was pretty lit

While being a good player, he was also very entertaining, both just to watch live in his play-style and in his own video compilations he made. Genuinely looked forward to whatever antics happened during scrims or pugs that would get edited.
guy was the best flank scout I ever played against. always made the right choices, clutched fights for his team. definition of an amazing flank scout.
kinda repeating what's already been said, but arekk always was a consistent performer and understood his role of flank scout very well. he was very good at knowing when to go for plays vs when he had to stay alive, when to go back to heals, and where to position for fights. while not known as much for it his play-making ability was quite good too, always able to clutch out hitting his shots when needed. i think something that always stuck with me was watching banny watch his guide to flank scout video and him saying that arekk would commit instantly based on the calls he gave him, showing the level of trust arekk had in his team and how much of a team player he was
