At the bottom of clientscheme.res, you need to install the font like this:
"12" // this should be a continuation of the last number there, so if it's 6, you should put 7
{
"font" "resource/font.ttf" //the path to your font, relative to custom/%nameoffolder%/
"name" "fontname" // get this name from the details tab of the font when you view properties
}
Then, up in the fonts section (you can do a Ctrl+F for "Fonts ///") you should put something like this:
"Font12"
{
"1"
{
"name" "fontname"
"tall" "12"
"antialias" "1"
}
}
Do this for whatever sizes you want.
Then, in the huddamagecount.res file, edit the "font" value with "Font12" or whatever.

ShrubbishMIndCould someone change the class images to the class logos and give some instructions on how to install on a hud. Would look way better and simpler than the portraits.
Unzip and place into tf/custom/userstuff.
You might have to adjust the classimage xpos and ypos in SpectatorTournament.res a bit.
Doesn't work on sv_pure2 apparently. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

If it's a custom texture then it's for sure not going to work on sv_pure 2, if it's not you're doing something wrong.

The 2nd ones. Is there an easy way to change the color of them within vtfedit? Or should I export then change color?
flatline, if you can find out more about the motd header part, that'd be very much appreciated. In mine right now, there's MOTD_HeaderLabel nested within MOTD_HeaderContainer and that's it. Neither are ImagePanels or ImageButtons.

I think you'd have to change their color manually in an image editing program, I don't know, maybe there's some magic trick that makes you able to change their color in the hud code.
Here's both tgas and vtfs of white versions to save you some hassle.

Dang, I don't know of any other way to change the classimages for the spechud since changing the image path doesn't seem to have any effect. Thought they would work in sv_pure since the ones inside of vgui/replay works.

If it's a border (most likely), you can find it in clientscheme.res and lower the corner height and width values.

Fourth one is alpha or transparency. 0 is invisible and 255 means it's a solid color without any transparency at all. So your colors consist of the following, in this order: Red Green Blue Alpha. In this case, "255 0 0 255" would be a solid red for instance. Use this technique to identify elements in a HUD you would like to modify.

Thanks for the help Voloder but deleting everything except hudlayout.res and hudammoweapons.res still gave me rounded corners. Turns out that changing "CExImageButton" to "ImagePanel" and changing the value of "fillcolor" to the one of "defaultbgcolor_override" did the trick.
The only problem left would be fixing the animations because this method just killed 'em. :c
I think omni solved this exact problem here: http://teamfortress.tv/thread/13903/rectangular-hud-buttons#9
Maybe this was what you were trying to tell me and I just didn't get it because I'm an idiot. Again, thanks for your help :)
Edit:
If you read this and want a bxHUD with square corners, instead of adding
"border" "noborder"
"border_override" "noborder"
in the case of bxHUD, you need to add
"border_default" "noborder"
to (in case of the health panel) "PlayerHealthBG" in hudplayerhealth.res to get it to work.

Since all you did was change a few colours, I don't think it is justified to call this your own hud. Not trying to talk you down, but editing colours is just very basic hud editing, done by nearly everyone and as long as you do not make any major changes, I think you would better off just calling it a modified rayshud.
Also, YouTube videos are a lot of work to show off huds, using imgur is the way to go mostly since it's faster and you don't have to sit through a 3 minute video to know how the hud looks like.

It only shows the latest news and you can't navigate. I also doubt that we could recreate it. Maybe they are going to put the buttons back in again in the next update..
