when i tab out of my game and tab back in the game is considerably darker - all the colors look deep and vivid when my game normally looks really bright and flat in colors
if i tab out of the game again and then tab back in however it will go back to normal - anyone know why this might be happening?
i updated my mastercomfig a few weeks ago but other than that i havent done anything - this seems to have started happening in the last few days

if you leave the dxlevel XYZ in the start up options tab then there is much less stability when alt tabbing and in general. just remove it from the start up options tags after you open the game.

I think it is related to some unusual launch options from mastercomfig, not necessarily the "-dxlevel" one, I removed any weirder ones today and it seemed to have fixed it

Could you share your launch options so people can take a look at what may be causing it?

yes, I was referring to steam launch options, very weird if you don't have any and you have this issue

this happened to me in csgo, what fixed it was for me was disabling fullscreen optimization

I tested now to see if it's a driver related issue and (for me at least) it is
I used Display Driver Uninstaller and retried with the latest driver (issue still persisted) then I tried with the June one and still the same thing, however the May one (446.14) fixed the issue.
PS: I also tried Jacky's suggestion and it didn't work for me.

if you use nvidia cards you can install the geforce experience (tm) which automatically tells you if there is new drivers or if yours is out of date. may or may not help; https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/download/

If you have "disable full screen optimizations" checked, and you are running on the latest drivers/ windows update, uncheck it. This fixed the problem for both me and yight.
Unfortunately you lose the option to run in exclusive full screen mode. (God I sure do love dx12!!!)
Welcome to gaming in 2020.
Edit: also make sure you have all the windows "epic gamer" settings off. Focus assist, game dvr, game mode and Xbox game bar.
