Your opinion of yourself is much much higher than it should be. Confidence is one thing, but treating yourself like you’re the next big thing when you have no results in any higher level divisions is only going to hinder you. Try to learn to be humble and treat every opportunity as a learning one. This game has a small community and putting yourself out there as much as you are can end poorly if people get a bad opinion of you, whether that be based on your skill level or personality. Having a good mindset and attitude will make your life so much better and you’ll definitely see improvements.

Practice game sense, for example, positioning, remembering what Uber Charges are on each team, try to survive or get out earlier then you think if you are getting caught out. I think game sense is the most important aspect of being a good player. You can always train your aim, and you will notice that even though you could have mediocre aim, you can win fights depending how your positioned in every fight.

Being consistent in matches is definitely all about the mental game as people have said, it's very easy to get in your own head and judge yourself based on how you expect to be doing, but the best thing to do is to acknowledge those thoughts and tendencies and just let them go. Everyone gets self conscious when they start out a game poorly or aren't playing up to their potential but the only thing to do is to move on and focus on the next moment. The best players on the best teams will play exactly the same whether or not they are down 4-0 with 5 minutes left or at the very beginning of the game. Time to drop some gems. There hasn't been many mentions so Imma talk about the importance of your daily process and how your in real life consistency will more often-than-not translate into in-game consistency.

For example, if you're eating mad big macs and serious processed garbage idk how well you're expecting to play, but the reality is it won't be that great. Do you want your engine to run off that 87 octane bullshit or that 93+ supreme Nitro Gas? Lemme know if you guys wanna know how to improve your diet but it's really not that hard at all, people know not to eat crap but they still do.

One of the other most crucial things that affects my in game consistency is my sleep. Not always how much I'm getting, but the consistency of my sleep (same KO time, same wakeup time). Anything more than 8hrs of sleep and my brain does not work. This is more of you, you have to understand your body and what works for you and what doesn't.

Another huge tip, get some fucking exercise. I understand with the current world situation the lack of motivation and anxiety is real but this is where you have to find the power and do it for your own good. Get that blood pumping to your heart and brain and you will see a guaranteed increase in performance both mentally (decision making & mood) and physically (reaction time & DM). You have an increased amount of oxygen going into your brain, allowing you to focus for longer without anxiety.

Also guys please take care of your fucking joints, do not sacrifice your body to play esports LMFAO. I recommend stretching daily and taking glucosamine and omega-3s for joint health and anti-inflammation if you notice pain.

Learning how to meditate will also probably change your life as you can completely reset your mentality in just 10 minutes. As bear was saying if you can remove yourself from an in-game situation and look at everything from an analytical standpoint, it will be a lot better in the long run. This is especially for newer players who are easily affected emotionally and for those who succumb to mental pressure. It's hard for me to explain but while emotions are good because they help drive your ego to improve, they can sometimes get in the way and cause you to overthink a lot of shit. Sometimes you literally just gotta chill out, re-hydrate, maybe get up and walk around a bit. My team and I have been down 3-0 at halftime only for us all to re-center, re-focus and then reverse 5-0 teams in the 2nd half. Never bend, never fold.

All of these are strategies and life changes that I implemented to my own. They improved my mind and body for the better. this game becomes much easier and more enjoyable to play when you surround yourself with teammates who are invested in one another, the team's goals, and the overall well-being of the team. you should try your best to contribute to this yourself, and alienating people through insulting them or trying to play the blame game (especially among your own teammates) is a definite way to ruin the experience for the entire group. if you want to be more consistent, it begins with having a team environment where everyone is actively communicating and striving to work together rather than screaming over small mistakes.

also, just as a word of advice, put your own ego aside if want to improve by any measurable amount. there's so many people who know how to play this game very well who are willing to help you improve if you let them. listen, apply, rinse, repeat.

Since I live in the midwest i don't get much good weather to go out for walks.The only training equipment i have is a basketball hoop and that doesn't give me that much exercise.I try to meditate but that shit just doesn't work for me.As for my joints I have already fucked them up most of the time when i sit down they wont stop shaking and a lot of other stuff.But thank you for your input I will try to exercise.I will try to get at least 8 hours of sleep but I want the grind time ya know.

If you want to be more consistent you need to control your emotions, like many other people have said in this thread. Based on what I've seen from your stream and from some of your responses in this thread, it seems like you have a bit of an ego problem. That's not an insult, just an observation. When you think too highly of yourself, you tend to blame external reasons for your mistakes instead of what you actually did wrong, and that influences what steps you take to improve in TF2. I know this well because I had a huge ego when I was younger and I'm still having difficulty controlling it now, though I think anyone that remembers me from a couple years ago would agree that I've improved quite a bit in that area of my gameplay.

I'd recommend you watch your own demos and write down or at least think about every mistake you see. If you see the same mistake popping up over and over, think about how you can fix it. Consistency results from making as few errors as possible, and chronic errors are the biggest threat to that goal. Mistakes happen from everyone at every level, but higher level players have ironed out as many as they possibly can.

One more thing I could recommend is have someone else watch your demos, they might see things that you don't even realize are mistakes.

Also, just as a side note, being toxic in a game with this kind of a community is not a winning strategy. In the short term, it might tilt a few opponents and *maybe* you'll get a win or two in a lower div because of it. The issue is that in higher divs, people are generally able to better control their emotions and it's going to be really hard to find a tryout if you build up a reputation of being a dick. If you want to win, win because you're better than the other team, not because you did haha funny pregame taunt and shit talked them before the game even started.

In the short term, it might tilt a few opponents and *maybe* you'll get a win or two in a lower div because of it. The issue is that in higher divs, people are generally able to better control their emotions and it's going to be really hard to find a tryout if you build up a reputation of being a dick. If you want to win, win because you're better than the other team, not because you did haha funny pregame taunt and shit talked them before the game even started.

What Habib said is everything that matters.

You take care of yourself; mentally, physically, and spirtually. Search up "pyramid of needs" and it will give you a lot more insight to how your mental state, physical state and spiritual state matter in not only games but in real life (like dealing with depression).

All in all, take care of yourself and the game will play itsself. Focusing on how to play the game better probabaly will not work, but gaining insight into how you think and making good decisions based on environment is much better than a nomad style of playing.

thank you everyone for the advice I slept on it and I'm starting an exercise routine and I'm permanently disabling my tab button and chat.Next Im gonna work on my ego. unbind y (my chat key)
hud_say_text_time 0 (don’t see people potentially BM’ing - keeps the mental game smooth)
unbind tab (I have the match hud enabled at the top of the screen, so I don’t need to press it to see who’s alive. It also prevents me from seeing my K/D ratio, and where my teammates are on the scoreboard - keeps mental game smooth)

Speaking of K/Ds, one thing I see you do a lot youngman is look at your teams stats on the scoreboard by right clicking on their names or whatever. You need to turn this setting off IMMEDIATELY. IMMEDIATELY IMMEDIATELY IMMEDIATELY. Looking at your teammates damage and kills and deaths is a fast track way to push blame onto them for underperforming when there can be a multitude of TEAM factors that can cause them to underperform. If you’re looking at their stats and going “man my demo is feeding”, “man my combo scout can’t frag for shit”, it will cause you to lose motivation in the current match if your team is struggling, or even worse, make you lose confidence in your teammates for the weeks to come which is the WORST thing that can happen on a TEAM where you need to perform as a singular unit.

That’s all the advice I have youngman go chase those dubs

this is some rly good advice. I turned this setting off since it was added. Since you play soldier, you have to remember that your value will not always translate well into logs or stats. A soldier with 300+ dpm and a 2.0 KD in a scrim can still be a BAD soldier if he's just playing for his stats and baiting his team. The best play will not always look sexy but it will help your team get the win. TLDR; the only stat the matters is the win, start thinking about doing what you can to help your team win, not what you can do to make yourself look good.
